Apr 14, 2021 Ex-Brooklyn Center Police Officer Kim Potter will be charged with second degree manslaughter for killing Daunte Wright a prosecutor second on Wednesday (April 14). Kim Potter shot and killed unarmed 20-year-old Daunte Wright during a traffic stop. According to reports, she is claiming that she meant to grab her taser when Wright tried to get back in his car, but grabbed her gun instead and shot and killed him. The charges against her comes a day after Potter and the police chief both resigned from their positions at the Brooklyn Center Police Department. Massive protests have taken place each night since the killing of the unarmed Black man by the white ex-officer. Those protesting are demanding justice for not only Mr. Wright, but for the countless Black bodies that are beaten and killed with little to no accountability from the officers who do it.
