Shortly after 9:30am on Wednesday, February 22, 1995, a Massachusetts State Police helicopter developed engine trouble and crashed into the roof of the Harvard Yacht Club on the banks of the Charles River in Cambridge. 39 year old Sergeant Paul Perry and 33 year old Sergeant James Mattaliano of the Mass State Police Air Wing died in the crash. The Troopers were transporting two civilian communications specialists who also perished. Investigators determined the helicopters engine failed due to contaminated fuel.
