South African soldiers on border patrol duty have this month recovered five vehicles in the Macadamia area. The vehicles were most likely heading for Mozambique after being stolen in South Africa.
On 19 April, at around 23:30, the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) was informed of a possible illegal vehicle crossing on the border with Mozambique near Macadamia. This information came after vehicle detecting sensors placed in the area were activated.
Soldiers from Macadamia Base, Mpumalanga, conducted a thorough search and at about 03:00 the next morning, an abandoned Toyota Hilux worth around R330 000 was found in the bushes behind Steenbok Village.
