According to research published in the journal Bioscience, Biotechnology and Biochemistry, Chinese black tea extract (CBTE) holds promise. Chinese black tea is made from the leaves of the tea shrub (Camellia sinensis) after the processes of withering, rolling, fermenting, and drying. In the study, CBTE significantly promoted hair growth after two weeks of topical application in shaved six week-old male mice. Compounds in green tea have also been linked to improved hair growth.
