San mateo is just ahead of San Francisco with 453 cases. In the north bay, mendocino reporting four confirmed cases and lake cconfirmed cases. An old ford factory is being converted into a emergency mdical center. These preparations were under way to transform the event center into a makeshift hospital. We are working to double Hospital Capacity from 1,100 beds to about 2,200 beds. Its a giant space and has all of the capable infrastructure to support Something Like this. National guard troops have assembled 250 beds. This makeshift hospital would only be activated if other medical centers end up being overwhelmed with patients. Santa clara county is preparing for a possible surge of patients. County leaders are addressing the question of what happens if they suddenly need to hospitalize large numbers of people. At Good Samaritan in san jose chief nursing officer mark brown has been working tirelessly with his staff to prepare. Its going to be too dangerous. The new federal law allows most workers with children to take up to 12 weeks of paid leave. Officials say that the Families First Coronavirus Response act applies to state workers. The law also gives two weeks of sick leave at full pay for people who meet certain criteria. That includes having a child whose school or day care has been canceled and its also available to workers who have to stay at hominid a quarantine order from a Public Health official or a doctor.
