Moderna releasing new results this morning from its lab tests about its new covid booster. They say the new booster creates more antibodies designed to fight the newer omicron subvariant. They also say it offers additional protection against the subvariants currently making up majority of the cases in the United States. But Officials Say those subvariants may be more capable of causing infection in people who have previously had had covid or have had older covid vaccines. They also say it doesnt appear to be more dangerous than previous strains. Thats good news. Weve been covering this recent rise in cases for a few weeks, but Health Care Experts say the good news, we are very capable of handling it now, its tough to say covid is back when in reality it never really left. Were just much better prepared to deal with it. The fda still has to approve the new vaccine that is that is expected to come within the next week. Then the cdc will have to sign off on it. This happened on i280 in burlingame last night. Sky seven shows the traffic jam at the truesdale drive exit drivers were backed up to larkspur drive. Lanes were closed for about a half hour last night. The chp believes the shooting happened on i280, near the Crystal Springs off ramp in san bruno, but theyre still working to determine the exact location. The injured driver then drove to burlingame. M he was taken to a local hospital with nonlife threatening injuries and is expected to recover in the east bay. Community groups are coming up with their own proposals to improve Public Safety. Abc7 News Reporter tim johns talked with local leaders and neighbors who say they have had enough with what seems like never ending shootings. Crime is continuing to spike in oakland. And on tuesday, for were detained and two arrested after gunfire rang out at skyline high school. Oakland is by many accounts, worse than we have been in a long time. Lauren taylor is a former Oakland City Council member who ran for mayor last year. On saturday, hell be taking part in a rally to demand city leaders do more to combat crime, which he says disproportionately impacts people of color. According to the chronicle, the City Attorney believes this ruling makes it easier for San Francisco to conduct encampment sweeps and also enforce some local laws like a ban on sitting or lying on public sidewalks during certain hours. However, the court rejected cited the citys motion to reverse an injunction that blocked officials from clearing encampments. When the number of unhoused individuals is greater than the number of available shelter beds. San francisco officials argued that many people on the streets are refusing shelter. The coalition on homeless says that isnt true. They claim the city is simply marking people down as refusing because they do not have enough beds. The coalition sued last year, setting off this legal battle. They say that yesterdays ruling is a win for them because the injunction was not reversed.
