On March 19, this 38-year old resident of KR Puram, was prescribed a course of antibiotics for his fever. When his condition did not improve after a few days, a RT-PCT test showed that he was covid-positive. Though he did not have any other symptoms, he got himself admitted to a hospital in Hebbal and even then a CT scan of his lungs showed no sign of a lung infection. But from there on his health worsened. He was also a witness to another 31-year-old in his room, deteriorating, and not responding to treatment. “When the virus started attacking my lungs, I faced the worst moments of my life. I couldn’t breathe, talk or even sleep. I felt I need to talk to my wife before things worsened. Though I tried to hide what I was going through to protect her, realised I was taking a long time to speak. I was choking and no words were coming out of my mouth. I found it hard to breathe and speak. She realised that I was critical and sought special permission from the doctor to come and see me in a PPE kit. Her presence gave me the courage to fight back.
