Hours after Concord Police Officer Jason Shuping was killed in the line of duty, tributes like this one have been popping up along I-85 along the procession route where Shuping is being transported.

A police officer and a suspect were killed in a shootout Wednesday night at a fast food restaurant in Concord that also injured a second officer.

The City of Concord said 25-year-old Jason Shuping was the officer killed; Officer Kaleb Robinson sustained "non-life-threatening injuries."
Concord Police say the incident started around 10:20 pm when officers responded to a report of a disabled vehicle and an attempted carjacking near the Sonic restaurant on Gateway Lane, across I-85 from Concord Mills Mall.
