Cant yes good. Do you hear me well you had me when. Sonia was shot ski lives in kansas city her granddaughter leah is a seattle based filmmaker and shes making a documentary about her grandmothers past and more recent past hello sonia you know oh are you good im curious how do you think those experiences of your youth those experiences that are so hard to imagine for most of us how how they shaped this woman that you are 7 decades later. Well. Never. To leave. Our. The. Lights on. I am no longer. There is a lot of. Time to. Have time any time so i could. Ok 32. Other good if you have been coming here for 14 years this is a place like no other week if you just say. I think its going to be 2530 years were going to. Do it. Just. A straight. I usually you know have a good. Drag i say if someone doesnt ask me ill say it day to day ask me if you can do it you know the benefit. Of us etc ok. Look for see the excited. Thanks i measure by. You are no offense but youre no longer a young woman in fact you are one of the last living survivors of the not the last and im aware of it. And im wondering how clear your memories of 70 years ago actually are. I think very clear you leverage it. All your life. They forget and they. Know i was in the. Sea when the one. To. Day came and they come and i so i was close almost 14. Years to get to pertain to a place. I shall never forget in my life because i was like an ethic looking over what a statement played. And i witnessed myself. Horrible horrible time. Looking down. And had bullets hellish time. Sometimes of people tried to escape. Hiding places was never a bad image was. Cut out. Down close that we didnt have any and no. Linda. They had they came with a gentleman. And he took us out. And they were bringing other people from the hiding. And we knew it was a major shock to us that i dare. To go to. My father. Never saw. My little sister escaped. And. Stage. The kids. Impassable. When you have such a horrible experiences as a youngster its left to fear some kind of fear. That you cant at a normal person would not even on the stand. Because those horrible things what i have see in the skeletons of those people. And only dead looked around was death and fear death and fear. So i have them etched there is no doubt about that if i would be not i would be like. So i keep myself always busy in this this helps me not to think. So much about what i went to this dark 8 terrible spot. In my great honor to introduce. Her daughter regina. To my mother is the only holocaust survivor in the kansas city area who is out speaking regularly about her experience. So im going to start my presentation with an overview of what happened to my mom chronologically before during and after the war then my mother will come up and speak. I want to star was one of the only remaining of my family for the war my mom has highlighted the medal her sister is the little girl in the back row with pigtails. Everyone else in this photo was murdered. And his sister survived the war in the forest with the partisans and lives in israel. My mom story of survival is incredible to. Capture as a teen just like you are witnessing the worst in 3 different doesnt he and. Her liberation and marrying another survivor my father. Then settling here in kansas city to raise me and my brother and sister. I know that you have made it your part of your business to tell people firsthand what happened and i wonder what what happens to that he. Story what happens to the stories when you are gone this is there is speaking about speaking out and i will tell you what to prompt me. It was an awakening for me when i heard skinheads denying. That never happened it was just like a tongue and to my brain to my mind to say hey sonia this was the reason you survived you have to speak for them. In beer that now auschwitz when one day when we are account that and s. S. Men went door to door duros and just you know how to talk our numbers and they start calling all of those numbers where they supposed to go to the guest i used to say to my daughter you fail each one heart i come please something my greatest fulfillment is speaking to a disturbance in schools because this is our future generation and then in a few minutes when you see this horrible horrible. Clouds. From the chimney. So you can imagine i dont know if you can imagine. Because you never knew where it would be you are. Speaking from your heart and speaking what took place and you were the witness if a reach their hearts in their make a change in their lives and take out the hate this would be my greatest accomplishment. Well i want to thank you very much for coming and listening to tell me i was a little narrow and i hope youll forgive me for that me for fame for one. d but. You could get part of the book to. Talk about the. Military uniform share of a good citizen do so you can call upon your local coop bucking the. Clock john avlon. Still a piece in all these shows all of the stuff but dont take care of the song was fake fixing because if you put stinky everybody we know its way to normal more like big a lot more see every mall. Less dip by your lights dim up box in the swish of the politically to go music functionally to the bank lady to the police and. I know that something is likely to finish it shes vicious but not. Odd no team no crowd. No shots. Actually helps because. Well its crap no 1st. Point should your thirst for action. Is there a great. Rule. That was a little have this is you want to hear. From our 14 anger up in a really small town in missouri and. My mom grew up in illinois and she saw. Her dad i never had a grandpa on my side because they were a little someone from. Him and he got shot in the house and. I just know that its something that she had to go through. And i really you know appreciate all my life because she is sort of she is a fighter she kind of. How were so shes definitely a good example for you. My name is caroline i was 14 i am a catholic clone shark injure 14 years old i grew up in wilmington delaware. I am from new york age 13. But i do relate to. The jewish people and how they survived the holocaust because they are like a brother religion tourists knowing that there was someone who just one person could kill over a 1000000 people makes me feel. You know i dont know how to put it its hard for a good person to stand but there it is and it is but you young people i hope and if you do you will be strong. And to really stand up for the right thing. For the right things because all the bad underline the main thing is not to close your eyes when something does go wrong not that i want to. Spend a. Me and wonders. No no my rude. If you think. You know me. I can kind of relate to how you feel because i know like i love my family more than anything like my mom my best. And so i dont know. What i would do. My dad. Those are like all those years of your life they are going to get back. You have their ways. You know 40 year olds would be 50. Thats crazy i just respect. I dont think i would ever be able to. Even. If i was your age you know when the war broke to 14. And to see. Witnessing things what i have seen. It is. I will not get no i cannot this have to come from a higher both. I am not the one to forgive what i see. Taking place. No buck i will not hate because the hate. Will destroy me and now be a hate theyre like them. Your ability to say that youre not ever going to hate. When youre fighting with sylvia like oh i hate you or whatever but you dont hate them obviously but even just to say that is just wrong considering the fact that he actually have a reason to hate me. And i think it. Says thank you for that thank you thank. You. Thank you. For. That saying you. Love you. I never told really. I had a very good eye for clothes but let me tell you. No tailored was really done my hands. In the war. Game mean they had. To. But here you can see him here by the machine sewing. Still. Not that far gone you know thats him and. This is c. N. N. This is the machine over dead if you like to use. The let it go lets for the. Memories said memory its. 9 minutes. Till august when i was seeing myself my motor walking to the guest. Which was really i would say. To left turn right when you are ready to. Spares into camps when it needs. Selection. The ones for they would still make me sick. We were all stay on more. Than the ones we do supposed to deconstruct. Their self to. In the morning i hear the siren sounds. Like something was pushing from. My. Seat. Trying to find a little into a little tiny piece. And i look out except the time that corner. Womens corner i want to. Get into a. New. Specialty when i saw my mouth. So. You. Know. All this i want to show you. Oh ok. This is my bed theyre almost ill the king sized the bet. Slip on this side as you can tell its it goes a little doubt its all on the field ok yeah this is this is it really unbelievable. It at least had to be 75. 00. And this she had to get it with her sin this is was my mothers. Its. This is whats left of this. Weeks yeah you can see the. Beautiful yes. You know. This is a charity. Its so dear to me that no one. No one can. Understand and i cannot even describe it myself when i hold my hand. Whenever i go to sleep she is with me she is always. After the day that we all met so. I thought about it almost every day. She has impacted me in ways i could have never imagined but like what she was telling us about her mom thats what got to me the most because my mom. Is everything to me and if i watched her walk away from me knowing what was going to happen. I just i cant even imagine being Strong Enough to go on from that point. We. Are really hard to reach now theyre just structed with their. Internet social networks and i think that sonia change that for me at least. She had such a personal message that it was hard not to put yourself in her place and think about what it would be like to be her and i think that that got all of our attentions she made me want to change things the way things are she made me want to make an impact on the world and i think thats why its so important that she keeps talking to people and keeps changing peoples lives. Just like she did lie. During the vietnam war u. S. Forces also bomb to neighboring laos it was a secret war. And for years the American People did not know. Until our thelma is a. Heavily battered country per capita. Millions of unexploded bombs still in danger lives in this Small Agricultural country jordyn wieber. Even today kids in laos full victims of bombs dropped decades ago is the u. S. Making amends for their tragedy and. Help to the people need in that little land of. The. People. That. Sell you take. From the assassination of john f. Kennedy and watergate to the attacks on 911 and these in iraq. Citizens both here in the United States and around the world have been witness to lie after lie cover up after cover up added into the mix the echo chamber of social media the rise of youtube prognosticators and entire industries built on cultivating public fear for personal financial gain and fame and is it really such a surprise or wonder that today when global world changing events take place many around the world do these events
