That s right hyper competitive world here for these high school seniors who are just learning roughly this week or 10 over the next couple weeks whether their applications are accepted to the universities that they want this is gotten more and more competitive over the last few years for a number of reasons in part because it s so easy to apply to a lot of schools or something called a common app that allows. Students and their parents to apply online. And we re probably at a little bit of a demographic bubble as well and so what s happening is these especially the prestigious universities are admitting you know somewhere around 5 to 10 percent of the people there are there are getting up locations from one figure in the story in The Boston Globe to morrow that jumped out at me was now mighty the the great University here in Cambridge is receiving 21710 applications for the class of 2022 and as of March 14th which was admissions day it offer all entry to only 4964 students I think that s working out to roughly 7 percent I didn t do the math myself what s happening here is that these students then have to sort of think about their 2nd choice so there are there are 3rd or 4th choice obviously there s financial considerations here some of the elite universities provide financial aid but some of the less than elite ones the middle tier ones might not or might not offer as much financial aid as possible so there s a lot of pressure on these kids right now and they re having to make a lot of difficult decisions I think usually they have about a month or so to do this the parents are usually involved the notice of personal experience.
