Republican president ial candidate says he will not attend the Republican Convention this center. On the democratic side its full speed ahead for Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. They are on the campaign trail once again today as is donald trump. The messages are clear. Trump is hitting clinton, clinton is hitting trump, and sanders is hitting both of themes he keeps pushing ahead to the democratic convention. West virginia is next up for the democrats this coming tuesday. Kentucky and oregon are the other big prizes before we all go to california on june 7th. Republicans, meanwhile are coming to grips with donald trump as their presumptive president ial nominee. And miss shifting his campaign into general election mode. Lets bring in our panel. Our chief politicalist analyst Gloria Borger and mea malika henderson. Gloria, he has named a new National Campaign chairman, finance chairman, to go out there and raise money, steve mnuchin. This is significant. Very significant. Dont forget donald trump has spent the entire Campaign Calling his opponents puppets, thats the word, puppets because they relied on super pacs for their funding. He has also got a super pac now. We have to wait and see how donald trump is going to raise money. He is obviously going to put some of his own money into this. But he understand whaz a juggernaut he is up against with the delts. But it does represent a huge change for donald trump. And were going to have to see, will he say okay im going to limit those contributions to 100 . Im going to make them 27 like Bernie Sanders. Will they be 1,000 . He still has to be able to make the case he is not bought and sold. Thats the case he was making against his opponents. He has been making it against Hillary Clinton. Individual contributions can go up to 2700, Something Like that. Will he limit that . Will he make it lower . I mean were going to have to wait and see. Because they are going to need the money to compete with Hillary Clinton. Do you want to weigh in on that . I think thats right. If you look at 2012, a billion a piece, mitt romney and barack obama in terms of running for the white house. Donald trump is in i think a bit of a pickle here, not only in term of the branding and what it means now for his brand that he is going to raise money. But he is also behind because you have had Hillary Clinton and the democrats really shaking the money for eight months. Shaking the trees for nun and being successful and raising it and building the infrastructure. I think it will be interesting to see whether or not donald trump, sort the small money donations he was able to do some of that on twitter, raised 12 million that way. They are going to need more than that. The Hillary Victory Fund has raised 60 million. It is a lot of money. He is suggest he may need a billion dollars to be competitive against Hillary Clinton. He is very wealthy, as he tells us, but how much of his money he says he has put over 30 million into this campaign. Yeah. There is going to be a question how much he is willing to spend personally. Mitt romney not attending the Republican Convention in cleveland this coming july. We know that john mccain will be attending. Neither of the bush president s will be attending. Is this a statement they are making . I think it is. Mitt romney already said public publicly, gave a speech against donald trump, said he is not going to vote for donald trump. We dont know if he is going to vote for a Third Party Candidate. Im assuming he is you know, i dont know about Hillary Clinton, but not going to theson convention is a statement. And i think you know, its quite stunning. And now were also hearing that there are some republicans out there who cant, you know, stomach voting for donald trump or Hillary Clinton for that matter. They are looking for a Third Party Candidate, senator ben sass of nebraska, he posted this on facebook, why are we confined to these two terrible options . This is america. If both choices stink, we reject them and go big he. Thats what we do. Is that really a viable option, though, a Third Party Independent candidate . I mean the problem right now seems to be who would that be . Right . I mean never mind all of the red tape that they would have to cut through and terms of getting on state ballots, in raising the money and all of that. Its who would it be . Ben sass doesnt seem to be coming forward. He seems to be raising the idea. Bill crystal for a while talked about jim maddis, this general who also seems to be reluctant. But there seems to be moftd around his candidacy. He seems not to be interested. If there is a Third Party Candidate, i think we know what would half. It would be very likely that it could give the general election to Hillary Clinton. And if they do that, i mean its sort of their ultimate way of stopping donald trump. So well see if they are able to get this together. Quickly gloria, if there is a Third Party Candidate i dont know if they could put that together, but lets say somebody impressive does energe and prevents the republican or democratic nominee to reach the candidates from getting 1237 delegates. Then it goes to the house of representatives. Presumely the republican nominee would be elected in the house of representatives. I think there is such an intense debate going on inside the Republican Party right now about whether you do this or as the wall street journal wrote say to the people you had your shot, you lost, and now lets reconstitute the Republican Party. But you know, there is the Eric Erickson group who says you know what, we owe it the ourselves to run somebody else. Gloria, thank you very much. And donald trump was the only candidate able to do that in the early stage. I think thats why his campaign caught fire and thats why he was able to prevail ultimately in the primary. He eviscerated 16 other politicians, many of whom have excellent resumes, elect sd officials. Did they underestimate him . I think everybody underestimated donald trump. If you look back to the beginning of this campaign, nobody thought that donald trump would be able to do what he did. If you look at the candidates who lets remember, this was seen as the most talented republican field in a generation with rising stars. People were talking about two or three potential president inside this field when we first started out back last year in New Hampshire and iowa. What trump was able to do was they didnt attack him until it was too late. Their campaigns were in mortal danger by the time they got wise to what was happening and it was too late. We saw it with ted cruz this week in indiana. You say he revolutionized the way campaigns are won n. What w way . He basically had a campaign he didnt have a lot of money men, didnt have pollster, didnt have a Grassroots Organization in many of the states early on. Thats the traditional way the campaigns have been run. Thats why many thought his fire would burn out. He based the Campaign Around social media, around his personality, about his ability to capture the news agenda every single day. I think we have to go back to the fact that he was speaking for people in a way that president obama spoke for people in the 2008 campaign. We had an interesting he can change on raising the nations federal minimum wage. Ill play that for you. You are happy with 25, the current federal minimum wage. You cant live on 7. 25 in america. Im actually looking at that. Im very different from most republicans. You have to have something that you can live on. What im really looking to do is get people great jobs so they make much more money than that. So they make much more than the 15. If you were president what would you im a looking into night but you are opening to raising minimum wage. Im open to doing something with it. Donald trump needs to talk to the people that i meet day in and day out. The woman i met in detroit who slept in her car the night before she slept in her car with her three children because they didnt make ends meet. Thats what Hillary Clinton is all about, making sure people can earn a liflible wage. She has been consistent in showing she can break down barriers not only by raising minimum wage. And those of them sitting there saying they are not going to be a part of the movement or cannot support donald trump what is your real intentions . Its obvious if you look at it, the American People, the republicans have spoken and they picked up. The primary season is over. 17 options out there, folks, the reality check is mr. Dont insult his supporters and sit there and say their voice doesnt count and that yours as a politician is better valuable than theirs. I am hoping the republicans grow up and get on the trump train. I said there are 4,000 roops troops now in iraq. How Many American troops are close to the front lines in these roles . He says a few hundred. Now weve seen everything from the loss of territory, isiss loss of some towns. They also havent had any campaign where they gained territory though u. S. Officials still say its holding at approximately 40 of their territory lost since the Coalition Campaign began. Interesting, the same poll, the cnn orc poll, we asked does isis have terroristser already 78 say they believe isis does have terrorists in the United States. It was 81 back in december. Frankly im sort of surprised it is not even higher than that given the fear thats out there right now. You do also have a number of Administration Officials explaining the process that there are people getting radicalized over the webb and the kind of attacks weve seen in brussels and paris could eventually happen here. But they say they think that theyve caught and are watching most of the people who have traveled to syria and come back. And since then, tightened up monitoring and tightened up access to the war zone. I think this poll was taken before we learned of this u. S. Navy s. E. A. L.
