Lotomeless people are not a different than everyone else. Intojust have fallen circumstances that eventually got out of their control. Withactually got involved. Ome people homelessly, i became because i got incarcerated. I did my time, and they released me straight onto the street. They gave me no assistance. And excon, just trying to get my life together. , ifor about 12, 13 months stayed in a homeless shelter in washington, d. C. I never thought i would be homeless. But most people right now in the Country Living paycheck to paycheck. I was. The root causes of homelessness are Mental Health, and that is the biggest one, but you also have troubles around addiction. Third is unemployment. Some of these guys truly are unemployed. Fourth is incarceration. Is dissolution of family. Mental illness is huge here. About 60 of guys who come here for services have some form of Mental Illness. Issues of depression, bipolar. These things can just exacerbate homelessness. Dysfunctionasically. We dont really understand how deep a Mental Illness is. Ive seen depression being too much for these guys, and they crumble under it. A year or two after these guys become homeless, it can be severe. Ive seen many homeless we. Aused to be mentally ill Mental Health care is the needed by resource the homeless. The Affordable Care act for all of its troubles and problems has afforded many at the bottom of the barrel the opportunity to get the Mental Health care they need. They cant afford going to a psychiatrist or psychologist. The cant afford the medication. It is absolutely beneficial. Theres no question in my mind. Its disgrace. It doesnt make sense. We know having People Living , we dont want to deal with that. You cant press a button and play god, and make it go away. Lifetime anything this country has challenged itself to do, it has done. You just have to give us the chance. West we are a country where treatment like a person. One of the struggles for the homeless is they become invisible.
