Helping mothers and babies fully, humanly flourish. Id like to tell you a story about a young woman named rachel who found herself in a difficult situation about 10 years ago. She had a very rough upbringing in her family and she left homee involved in a relationship that wasnt the healthiest. She was 19 years old and sadly, her boyfriend was physically and emotionally abusive. She became pregnant. And so she stayed with him. The father continued to and she found out again that she was pregnant in really pregnant. In really what could be considered a desperate situation, she reached out to a local Pregnancy Care Center whon fredericksburg, virginia, marys center. There and received the support for a couple of years to choose life for her second baby and fully flourish. Rachel went on to get her g. E. D. , then she became a certified medical steapt, then she went and graduated from as a registered nurse. Now at the age of 28 she is working as a registered nurse in our local area and just a couple of years ago, rachel bought her. [cheers and applause] friends, studies shown that 60 of women who choose abortion would have chosen life if they felt that they hadand not only n four women who choose abortion are coerced to have that abortion. What does a woman most need when she is facing an unexpected pregnancy . She doesnt need shame. What she needs to hear is, youve got this. And i will help you. She needs to know will support her in this act of courage and bravery. She needs to know that she is not alone. Marchers, i have a question for you. Will you be that someone . Lets hear it louder, let me 45er you say yes. Ls yes] often the back bone of help is the Pregnancy Centers. They offer help to women facing unexpected pregnancies every singleea popular. Wildly popular. 83 of americans support centern eight in 10 prochoice americans. In 2022 alone, pregnancy resourceenc get, this 358 million in resources to w facing unexpected pregnancies. Such svi housing, counseling, prenatal medical care, baby supplies, diapers, clothe, formula, parenting classes, adoption support and so much more. While the false narrative persists thatnore babies after e real story is that Pregnancy Resource Centers and maternity homes d you are for women. You substantively support women, their children, and their beforg after the babies are born, walking with them every step of the way. Do you agree . [cheers and applause] so much good has happened sinc of roe v. Wade on june 24, 2022. Nearly a year and a half ago. But we are not done. Our work to build a culture of far from finished. We will keep marnling every january at the National Level keep marching every january at the National Level, as well as in our states, until our nations laws reflect the basic truth that all human life is created equal andf protection. To help make that happen we began a state march initiative in 2018, long before roe was ti, and in the next year ahead well be in 16 states. Were comi to a state near you, folks. If were not there yet, we are coming. In the next six to seven year, we will march not only in d. C. But in all 50 states. Changing laws to prot a noble ay cause but you know what, even more important is changing hearts and minds. Make no mistake, we will march until abortion is unthinkable. My sonographer really encouraged me to see how continuing with the pregnancy would add to my goals and vision. I ended up calling to make an appointment with the resource center. They had diaperspermula, free cg she encouraged me, loved on me, let me know that i could do this. Whei was i found out i was pregnant. I was terrified. I was scared. The babys father wanted me to have an abortion. The first thing i did was run to a Pregnancy Center. I would not be here today if it werent for them. The Prolife Movement wants to be there to help you. Pregnancy centers want to be there to help you. We here at heart beat are an International Network of prolife, lifeaffirming organizations. Pregnancy centers are all over, opening their doors,ng that hop. We are alongside our friends at march for life, with every woman, for every child. They are freezing. Its my great privilege to stand alongside jeannie and all of my great colleagues who are joining us here today and so many extraordinary leaders who are braving the weather to join us for;m this important tradition. And it is an important one. Were so encouraged to see all of you. Everybody, from across the land they feel beauty of this seventh that its a beautiful picture of america. E people from all walksf life. All ages. All experiences. All backgrounds. Were all joining to celebrate what it means to be an american. Thank you for being part of that. [cheers and applause] it was Great British statesman, g. K. Chesterton, who famously observed that america is the only nation in thea cree. He said it was listed with theological lucidity in the declaration of independence. What is that creed . What is it that makes us who we are . We know the language so well. We hold these truths to bent. In other words, obvious. That all men are created equal. Not born equal. Created equal. Thats what the founders said. R3thats right. And that they are endowd by their creator with certain inalienable rights, including the right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. Those are inalienable rights they cannot be taken away. So its from the very beginning that our founders boldly proclaim those selfevident truths. Our rights do not come from government. They creator. Thats right. And it also means that every Single Person that is inestimable dignity and value. Our value is not related in any way to the color of your skin or what zip code you live in, how good you are in sport, where you went school. It is inherent because it is given to you by our creator. The National Creed is the essence of who we are in this country. Principle that made us the freest, most powerful, most benevolent nation in the history of the world and we can never forget that. I am, myself, a product of an unplanned pregnancy. In january of 1972, exactly one year before roe v. Wade, my parewh the time chose life. And i am very profoundly grateful that they did. [cheers and applause] see, what we have to do right now and i believe the reason al of you are here is you understand we have to build a culture that encourages an assists more and more people to make that same decision. This is a critical time to help all moms who are facing unplanned pregnancies to work with foster children and to help families who are adopting. To volunteer and assist our vital Pregnancy Resource Centers and maternity homes. And to reach out compassion ande truth in love. Thats what we do. All of us can play a role in that really impoant wo. Pivotalo promote Quality Health care for both women and their unborn children. This week in congress youll be encouraged to know the house passed t pregnant students rights act. Thats right. [cheers and applause] because being while finishing your degree can be really difficult. But women should not be presented with a false choice of being a mom or being a student. Thats right. [cheers and applause] we also passed the supporting pregnant and parenting women and families act. Thats a big one too. Right now, right now, you should know, the Biden Administration is proposing a regulation to restrict fundsrenners. [crowd boos] we know those are the centers that states relie on to assist expecting moms and dads. This would undercut that work the important firsttime and expecting mothers get from these centers. Our bill would prevent that from coming into effectnd the state can use these centers to help those in need. We are passing these bills and marching today because it takes a lot of work to convince people that every single human child, every unborn child has a value thats too precious to ignore. We have every reason to be optimistic that we can change Public Opinion we find encouragement from the lead turnovers previous generation. We can learn if the great americans who cha history. Abraham lincoln, frederick douglass, susan b. Anthony they challenge the prevailingnary toifs the day and they succeeded. We have toremember this, this is the key. Their success was grounded in our nations creed that we just spoke reminded their fellow americans about our founding principles and as line con said, the better angels of our nature. We should do the same thing today. My friends, lets be encouraged. Lets press on in hope and we can join together and make this great difference. I believe we can. [cheers and applause] congressman smith has been a prolife champion for many years, serving as cochair of the congressional prolife caucus for decades, tirelessly working on behalf of unborn children and their mothers. Thank you, congressman. Mr. Smith thank you so very much. First of all, on behalf of my wife marie and my very distinguished and courageous ls stage and a few others that couldnt be here, thank you, Jeannie Mancini for your leadership. It ladies and gentlemen at a new jersey Pregnancy Resource Center, two women expressed through tears of joy their deep and abiding■ gratitude for the incredible love, rcht, and care that persuaded them to reverse their decision to abort their by bay babies. They spoke of how desperate and even hopeless they were. And they thanked the director for being there in a nonjudgal and very gentle way to persuade them to have their child. They chose life. Then, two teenage girls got up, took to the podium, stood sidebyside, and they talked about their lives. School. Their family. Their friends. Sports their reverence for the sanctity of human life. Near the end of their remarks, however, they turned toward the director of the center and said, if you didnt persuade our moms to let us live, we would be dead. I was so moved. And to hear that kind of testimony. There are more than 2,700 Pregnancy Resource Centers throughout the United States. Each and every one of them an oasis of love, compassion, empathy, respect and care for both mothers and their children. As judy mentioned earlier,icans. The new Marist National poll found that 83 of all americans including 75 of democrats, support, i say again, support, Pregnancy Resource Centers. They, like all ofs in this human rights movement, stand with every woman and for every child. Wef abortion. Dismemberment. Child beheadings. And Abortion Pills that literally starve the baby to deat know, dobbs conveyed to lawmakers newfound powers led local, to save lives. We are greatly encouraged. Lives are being saved. Well have a setback here and there. Every human rights struggle does. But we are undeterd and we will not give up. [cheers and applause] at least 25 now have statutes that are either in effect or being litigated that protect life my own state is one of the bad ones. We have abortion until birth. But we wont quit in new jersey either and try to overturn a law that was passed by our governor and by the legislature. This week, under Mike Johnsons leadership, two new important prolife bills authored by two courageous bach and ashley hins, passed the house. Were working and were working for the babies and their mothers. Tragically, abortion president , has weaponized the entire federal bureaucracy to aggressively promote abortion on demand, including a fullcourt press to force tax payers to pay for it. Last congress, president absolute support was for this, to say House Democrats passed this, not once, but twice, legislation enable and authorize abortion right up until the moment of birth. Think of it. All nine months. That baby could be kill. Thats bidens view. That extremist legislation poses an existential threat to countless women and to children. The Biden Administration and some governors and lawmakers, including in the house and senate, continue t smear and misrepresent the noble work of Pregnancy Care Centers and we cant let that happen either. We will never, and i know so many of you, especial o the year we will never, never, never, with the grace of god, never quit in our defense for the weakest and the most vulnerable. Thank you. So in addition to that bill, yesterday the house also passed a bill that blocks an extreme Biden Administration policy thats attempting to cut off funding to Pregnancy Care Centers, as youre hear, across the country. However, we still need the senate to vote on these critical bills, and so now what im going to ask you to do is call on the senate to protect and fightt thg to block states from tanf funding that will support p. R. C. s. Heres what i want you to do. Pull out your phones now. Everybody pull it out. I know its cold. I know its cold. But heres what i want you to do. Pull it out, and those of you in the front row, im going to call you out if youre not holding it up. Hold that phone up. Hold that phone up. This quest started in 1988 when i First Contact with these boys. It was when i arrived at the institution of alexander for the young man came to meet me at the door. Right away he said, hey, man, do you want to be my father . And i said, how am i going to be your father . At that time i was beginning understand, that was a divine calling from god. You can be a better human being, my son. There were a total of 200 special boys and girls who had been completely abandoned. They were discarded by society, those kids. They show me a reality i didnt know. Which is how disabled i was. The biggest disability that was my disability because those boys made such an impression on me with their love. I said to god, you condition let these boys live like this, suffering and doing nothing. Thats when i heard g give your. Stay here with them. These boys were my first little family. First house. The young people were hearing this story, they were coming. The Catholic Community of the child■ jesus was born. A work that is spreading around the world. Our job is only to adopt people with disables who have been abned v or survived abortion. In a minute youll see pictures of my son, the reason why i am here today. He s center saved my life. I was trafficked from the age of 2 to the age of 29. At the was looking at death. I was trafficked to 33 different states. I was hooked on crystal meth. I wanted to die. I wanted my son dead. No life. I had no hope. But then i went to a Pregnancy Center in New Hampshire. And a woman named phyllis save midlife. She gave me the word, i know a man named jesus. Yeah. Come on. Yeah. And she said, for god so loved the world that he gave his only believe in him will not perish but have everlasting life. He did not come into this world to condemn thisorwas already co. I gave my life to jesus. Yes come on this is for jesus, come on yes and that woman, i looked at her and i said now what . Im homeless and im pregnant, how are you going to help me . She got me into a program and for there, because i challenged her, with that question, she opened her home called house of hope new h there we worked together and then two years ago she looked at me, the same woman that shared jesus with me and saved my sons life, the same woman that handed me an application for the Pregnancy Resource Center where need help life with women o a woman called me at 5 00 this morning and said i need help, my life, my baby is going through a distressed pregnancy, can you heeven though im in d. C. Ive t people that will help you at home. We are here to help. No matter what, were here to help. Were here for the weir here to save souls and save lives. God bless you. ■■y he pregnancy test was positive. I fell to the floor and cried. Jesus i screamed over and over again. What was i going to do . I just quit my fulltime entrepreneur so the timing just wasnt right to be pregnant. Plus i was afraid to tell him because in theack of my mind, i knew that if i continued my pregnancy i would be a single mom. When i worked up the krnlg to barely get the words out of my mouth before he immediately suggested that i have an abortion. Its not like were playing for keep he said. I was devastated but not at all surprised by his response. A couple of weeks later, i when to the doctor. And the doctor confird pregnant. [cheers and applause] i cried. I tried to move forward with the pregnancy, i continued with my doctors appointments. During one of my appointment,000,000 sonographer noticed how much i was try krying shech told me about a local Pregnancy Center. I was so exted about the services so i scheduled an appointment. I wish i could say that i had decided to choose life when i made that call but i hadnt yet. I wanted to but i if i could. There was one particular day when the pressure and the fear was■d■g so ■ dthey pick the phone to call an abortion provider. But god, they did not answer the phone. [cheers and apbxause] i never made the appointment. But do you know who did answer the phone when i needed them . My local Pregnancy Center. As i continued the pregnancy, the pressure and i was trying with every fiber of my being to hold ton my decision for life for my kids. But i was getting wk. One day i was crying and i needed someone to talk to. I knew the center was closed by i called anyway and pleaded with the lord for someone to answer. And someone did. The woman listened to me cry and reassured me that everything was going to be ok. It was what i needed to hear to come to that appointment instead of trying to call the Abortion Center again. And so i am eternally grateful that i found a Pregnancy Center and i remember when i was transitioning out of their Parenting Program at the center, i said, i condition repay you for everything that you have done because my twins are alive. But what i will do is pay it forward. And so today i pray that this is one of many days that [cheers and applause] therefore i want to tell everyone marching today that your work matters. It was because of people like you that allowed someone like me to choose life for my unborn twins. And thereso many people like me who need people like you to be there to give them hope and a pathway forward when theyre experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. I want to say thank you. Go, Nittany Lions i have been given the privilege to talk to you all on this amaidsaig that will happen every year until abortion is made unthinkable in this country. A little bit about penn state students for life. We are a small but committed club promote agriculture of life other a culture of death on campus. In the past two of ours to help out the local State College Pregnancy Resource Center. We have been fortunate enough to build staff and volunteers who constantly provide our local community with Free Services for women and children. And this is just one of the many ways we stay active in the fight to end abortion. My story is not one involving a direct connection to abortion. Instead, it involves a normal college student, who has fears and worries of knowing that i have different beliefs than most of the students on campus. It is knowing that people will call me insensitive and that due to my gender, i cannot have a say on this matter. It is knowing i may lose friends when they find out that i am unapologetically prolife. [cheers and applause] these fears and worries run through my head almost on the daily. However, more than that, thee sf life outweighs any fear or worry i may have. The discomfort of speaking up against the societal norms slowly gets chipped away as i remind myself that i fight for the life of a child to begin and to let the mother know that her life is just as precious and cared for as the unborn baby. And so i urge you all, i urge my generation, to not stay stagnant to not turn a blind eye. Because your voice matters. And you are not alone in this fight. You have a community filled witt bend you and if not, be that community for those to come to. Instead of running away from cod it. Use that energy as use that energy as the will to fight for the child and mother. Let us show the world our radical love for something that should be the norm. Let us show the world that abortion is not■o■ jl the answes it does not produce love. It only produces death. Until the day that abortions gone, let us never let the world forget the importance of the sanctity of life and the protection it deserves.
