As technology dissolves the distances between us we face the challenges that cross borders and oceans, our nations are partners in building a world where we choose creation over distraction. Destruction. Peace over bloodshed and democracy over autocracy. President biden and i are honored to welcome Prime Minister and mrs. Kishida for an official visit with the state dinner tomorrow night. We look forward to returning the hospitality and friendship that we have experienced in our travels to japan. Now please help me welcome our social secretary carlos. Correct thank you. Through. Our fifth state dinner. All it takes is one spring in d. C. To understand there is a special partnership between the United States and japan. Cherry blossoms burst into bloom. Their pink and white blossoms filling the air blanketing the streets. Reminders of the gifts japan gave our nations capitol and the Bright Future ahead for our partnership. That is we hope to capture with tomorrow evening state dinner design. The magic of spring and our lasting friendship. Each detail chosen to create a onceinalifetime experience. Guests will be welcomed by a wall of oversized fans and everyday object transform into into a piece of art. In Japanese Culture the fan is symbolic with the small and representing the beginning of life and each pleat that many paths our lives can take. The fan motif continues on the floor of the east wing enters alongside a design of coy and Cherry Blossoms. And the fan display in the press and the Prime Minister as they deliver their toasts. Dr. Bidens favorite flowers, sweet tea de, roses and peony, common in both the United States and japan, sit alongside cherry placesesomes. On some tables the first lady selected the george w. Bush state Service China to complement the green fabric and the pattern of sparkling Cherry Blossoms that runs through it other tables are covered in pink, ivory lace or rose velvet lin aren, pulling out the delicate design of the flowers on the lyndon b. Johnson state Service China. And tables with mirrored tops glow as they reflect the candlelight around them. Dr. Biden has chosen a menu to highlight the bounty of spring in japan and in the United States. So now its my pleasure to turn it over to our incredible executive white house chefs, chris and suzie. [laughter] [inaudible conversations] [inaudible] white house executive chef, and [inaudible] which is a house seared salmon [inaudible] [audio difficulty] avocado and [inaudible] actually, our inspiration for this dish is iconic american california because it seems such a wonderful [inaudible] a japanese chef basically invented the dish in california and henceforth if here we are still enjoying this dish. So basically its all these wonderful flavors which can i kind of have incorporated into the salad that will be very springy e and very delightfully fresh if. For the main course, i have a dry aged ribeye beef, and it is a sauce with [inaudible] and also since its spring we have some wonderful morrell mush if rooms, wonderful greens and some fava beans and some wonderful [inaudible] peppers. It is really an amazing dish, and we all love what we did. So hopefully you can try them as well. I would pass you on to suzie. Good afternoon, everyone. Thank you for being here im suzie morrison, im executive pastry chef and very excited to stand here before you today to tell you about the dessert well with serving. Well have a salted care knell disif tavern owe cake with [inaudible] if cherry ice cream and rahs bear withly drizzle. So we wanted to bring a little bit of the Cherry Blossoms that are here on the tidal a basin right here to our dessert in order for everyone to enjoy the Cherry Blossoms that we enjoy every year. And so were hoping that with all the decor on the state floor that this dessert will help to the make everyone smile when they see the Cherry Blossoms on here. And then we complement the dessert with cherry ice cream and then also inside is a salt ised piso care knell so the salty caramel so the [inaudible] and the disif catch owe butter disif tavern owe butter cream makes a wonderful combination for everyone to enjoy. Thank you very much. Questions for our chefs . [inaudible conversations] to take into consideration . When we formulate [inaudible] to the state dinner menu, we take into conversation all of the [inaudible] of our guests. This is the perfect time for some beautiful bounties right now with spring coming up, with all the morrells and the mushrooms. And suzie s cherries and all [inaudible] if she as on her plate. So in terms of the real goods [inaudible] take into consideration, hike, vegan and anybody that has any particular restriction on their diets. We accommodate everybody. [inaudible] come from the best with areas of the United States. The morrells came from oregon. Some of our little red grapefruits came from california. Some of our greens came from ohio. So suzies fruits, where did yours come from many . So the disif cash owes came from california, the cherries came, the bing cherries [inaudible] saved from the summer and then we freeze them and we also make sure that theyre very ripe from the season, and then we use them to make the cherry ice cream. And then, so basically, you know, wherever we can [inaudible] in the United States. , . [inaudible] the beef actually came from [inaudible] [inaudible conversations] still pretty much for the spring. [inaudible] [inaudible conversations] dr. Biden and our social secretary as well to [inaudible] try the dishes, and we all try them [inaudible] [inaudible] how long it took to design the menu i and then preparation for this weeks dinner . About a couple months prior to the dinner. Were given dietary guidance, so we [inaudible] if first and, of course, the preparation is the [inaudible] with everything around [inaudible] so we who supply it with a vegetable, hey, what looks good right now . So [inaudible] choices of menu and give them t what [inaudible] [inaudible conversations] from japan . Carlos, would you like to answer that that question . Any drink from japan [inaudible] drink. Oh, drink. No, at this point i dont think were planning on that. The wipes on the menu. But at this point were going to give you all a taste.
