Its due to arrive in the uk just after midnight. This is gb news after midnight. This is gb news across the uk on tv , in your across the uk on tv, in your car, on Digital Radio and on your Smart Speaker by saying play your Smart Speaker by saying play gb news. Now lets get straight back to josh. Straight back to josh. Welcome to mark dolan tonight with me, josh howie. Come up on this Christmas Eve special. This Christmas Eve special. First, my big opinion someone travels thousands of miles just to throw an egg at gb news. People dont have to agree with everything that we say. Thats the point. But i think we are providing a vital forum in the big story. Jeremy hunt says that britain has turned a corner economically , and only a scrooge economically, and only a scrooge would talk us down. Finance expert Jasmine Birtles is going to tell us if she agrees. Myself to tell us if she agrees. Myself and my pundits are going to discuss the big stories of the day, including a dodgy joke about a date rape drug by home secretary James Cleverly. Should secretary James Cleverly. Should he resign. And in my take at he resign. And in my take at ten, im going to get a bit angry and ask if its right for the pro palestinian activists to try ruin christmas. I think try and ruin christmas. I think you can guess what my answer is. You can guess what my answer is. First things first, let me introduce the brilliant guests whove come on these balmy whove come out on these balmy Christmas Eve to join us in the studio and studio we have campaigner and author chris wild broadcast. Author chris wild broadcast. A comedian and old friend, sajida kersey and yosef david, political commentator and social worker, as well as the big topics they will be telling us about their christmas nightmares. Im guessing with yosef itll be a hanukkah nightmare. Plus, the most important part of the show your emails. Let us know what you think. Gb views at gbillionews. Com. Mark has a golden rule we wont be breaking it tonight. We all have to hold hands. No, thats not it. We dont do boring and two big hours to come. Then so let us start with my big opinion. Okay start with my big opinion. Okay now check this clip out that somebody put on instagram learning there is a fox news in. London apostasy brookside. Who. Apostasy brookside. Who. Apostasy brookside. Who. Wow , someone hates this wow, someone hates this channel so much as someone who no doubt has never watched a second of what we do here that they travelled across the ocean to throw an egg. I mean, its so misguided and stupid, but its also very telling as to how some people view Public Discourse nowadays. If you dont like what someones saying, throw an egg. Now, for most of us tomorrow entails one of the trickiest navigate of the trickiest to navigate quagmires calendar year. Quagmires of the calendar year. The family christmas dinner. Forget not mentioning the drama when auntie sue didnt buy presents for your brothers stepkids, when your mother in stepkids, or when your mother in law drank on medication and groped washing groped you during the washing up. It. Nowadays, more up. Im over it. Nowadays, more and more , it seems that the old and more, it seems that the old adage applies you should never discuss religion and politics in polite now firstly, im polite society. Now firstly, im sure jesus wouldnt getting sure jesus wouldnt mind getting a his birthday. Mazel a mention on his birthday. Mazel tov but point family is tov but the point is, family is not polite society. Just look at the animals my lot turn into when the roast potatoes emerge. Still a few years ago, in the aftermath of the 2019 general election , my sister put out election, my sister put out a message on the Family Whatsapp Group that she was banning any mention of politics at the christmas lunch she was hosting that year now, to which i informed her the turkey wasnt the that could get the only thing that could get stuffed. And i were stuffed. My wife and i were still emotionally bruised from fighting corbynites and their supporters, turned out supporters, some who turned out to and neighbours and to be friends and neighbours and even a few family the wake of even a few family in the wake of losing and my place amongst losing work and my place amongst the Community Good the community of the good culminated in violent threats made against me, i vowed to never , never, ever again let never, never, ever again let anyone ever shut me down. And now here were my loved ones, trying to do precisely that. In the end, we all had a family powwow on zoom. Everyone got to calmly ish explain their positions. A few tears were shed , misunderstandings were sorted , misunderstandings were sorted, compromises made. Christmas dinner ended up being delicious and we had a great visit until my dad and i both got a bit drunk and started screaming at each other insisted each other because he insisted on language on using inappropriate language in front of my which in front of my kids, which ironically resulted using ironically resulted in me using much language. The point much worse language. The point is, think its not being able is, i think its not being able to talk about politics nowadays, even with your family, especially with your family. Thatis especially with your family. That is partly responsible for bringing us to this very toxic place in our society where rather than listen, people will throw eggs. Now, of course , throw eggs. Now, of course, there are others that will say its the chicken and the egg, but toxic politics is what got us here. Although ironically , us here. Although ironically, most of those people are unlikely to ever come this unlikely to ever come on this channel we talk it channel so we can talk it through. Now, im sure some of you family you will be around family members who think that members tomorrow who think that this is this channels existence is wrong, even evil. Very nice people have come up to me in the street to say how much they love gb and how much they gb news, and how much they appreciate its existence, but they keep it a secret appreciate its existence, but they they keep it a secret appreciate its existence, but they they watchep it a secret appreciate its existence, but they they watch us. T a secret appreciate its existence, but they they watch us. Andecret appreciate its existence, but they they watch us. And aret appreciate its existence, but they they watch us. And a few that they watch us. And a few days ago i had an old, uh, friend admonishing me friend drunkenly admonishing me for even on here and how for even being on here and how disappointed he was in me. But ill you what i told him ill tell you what i told him with swear words and with less swear words and slurring our bubbles, be they on social media or our friendship groups are destroying us, that thatis groups are destroying us, that that is why gb news exists. That is why it needs to exist to pop the bubbles. Just like a family christmas dinner can pop the bubble. Theres a reason why the higher ups here make a big deal about the people who work at gb news. And you, our audience, all being a family. Its the reason why the channel one most loved media brand of the year, what were not trying to do is create just another bubble. Were not just another bubble. Were not fox news. Instead were creating fox news. Instead were creating a family because with family you talk and you listen. Family talk and you listen. Family means that you dont have to agree about everything or even anything. But still, you can say anything. But still, you can say your piece and still you can be heard. Now when im in the office back there before the show, the channel plays in the background , or im driving background, or when im driving with the radio. There with gb news on the radio. There are loads opinions make are loads of opinions that make me slap my head in me shake or even slap my head in incredulousness. Sometimes i talk back to the empty air and i bet i have listed the same exasperated reaction over the last two years from many of you. And im not under any illusions that the majority of you will probably vote differently in the upcoming election, and thats fine. Yeah yes, i still would have remain. Fine. Yeah yes, i still would have remain. Im still fine. Yeah yes, i still would have remain. Im still not have voted remain. Im still not a trump supporter. I still think that zero is needed. Still that net zero is needed. I still think necessary. Think immigration is necessary. But also i have listened to those i wouldnt have been able to before. I understand the factors better for brexit and agree with the necessity to solve them , if not the solution. Solve them, if not the solution. I understand the danger of the largest democracy in the world behaving in a non democratic manner. I understand the route to net zero should be more flexible and transparent, and i think we need to control our borders to ensure our values are compatible with those who would join us, and to not have our generosity exploited. The channels critics argue that we stoke divisiveness. Id argue its the exact opposite. The real danger is when people dont feel heard, when we wail against the walls of our bubbles and only hear back echoes. If all only hear back echoes. If all you ever do is preach to the converted, you convert no one. We have to pop our bubbles. Then maybe we can find consensus , maybe we can find consensus, compromise, and common ground. We need to have this space to be able to talk to and listen like we have with our family. What do you think . Vaiews gbnews. Com. Ill get your email shortly , but first, your email shortly, but first, lets hear from tonights top pundits. The enigmatic campaigner and author chris wilde. There replaceable broadcaster and comedian sajeela kersh, and lovable political commentator and social worker yosef david. Now youre all here on the channel. Uh, do you think that the channel actually helps pubuc that the channel actually helps public cohesion, or do you think it polarises people more . I kind of agree with you in the terms of the family thing. The terms of the family thing. Like, i thought that was quite nice because ive always felt nice. Come quite nice. Come on. Quite nice. Come on. Quite nice. Than that. No, no, no. More than that. No, no, no. Like ive only like i mean hello. Ive only just started. Let carry just started. Let me carry on. Let continue. Um, it is a let me continue. Um, it is a family vibe when you get here. Like, i dont know what the naysayers think, that you come in and, you we have doing in and, you know, we have doing battle and stuff and kung fu and jiu jitsu whatever to try and get studio because of jiu jitsu whatever to try and getthese studio because of jiu jitsu whatever to try and getthese haterino because of jiu jitsu whatever to try and getthese haters around. Jse of jiu jitsu whatever to try and getthese haters around. And f all these haters around. And its that at all. Its its not like that at all. Its really lovely. The teams are lovely the screen, you lovely behind the screen, you know, is first know, and everyone is on first name terms, which i really like. Um, is lovely. Uh, um, its it is lovely. Uh, though i would disagree that its like my family because my family , nobody listens. We just family, nobody listens. We just talk each other. Talk over each other. Yeah. I mean, yeah, chris, i mean, youre politically on the left, i think. Is that right to say. Yeah. Mean, do you get say. Yeah. I mean, do you get any from coming . No. Any grief from coming . No. Absolutely to give any grief from coming . No. Abs im going to agree im not always going to agree with what gb news and what they put that freedom put out there, but that freedom of a reason. Of speech is there for a reason. Theyve been open and theyve always been open and really to come really welcoming for me to come on here point my points of on here and point my points of view ive always view out, and ive always been respected and i respect people back and thats works. Back and thats how it works. I think platform back and thats how it works. I think youve platform back and thats how it works. I think youve got platform back and thats how it works. I think youve got a latform back and thats how it works. I think youve got a diverse where youve got a Diverse Panel where youve got a Diverse Panel, have those panel, you can have those debates, theyre not. Debates, but theyre not. Theyre debates. Theyre not evil debates. Theyre not evil debates. Theyre not evil debates. Theyre not theyre debates theyre not theyre not debates which be which are going to be disrespectful. Were talking which are going to be disres|things. Were talking which are going to be disres|things. Were are,. Ing which are going to be disres|things. Were are, you about things which are, you know, behind know, we talk about behind closed and think that closed doors. And i think that for gb news does, it for me, what gb news does, it gives you that and that gives you that space. And that flexibility express those flexibility to express those opinions flexibility to express those ophlons flexibility to express those oplii mean, yousef, do you agree . I mean, yousef, do you agree . I mean, you fought in the 2019 election famously against i mean, you fought in the 2019 electionthatously against i mean, you fought in the 2019 electionthat greatagainst i mean, you fought in the 2019 electionthat great footage corbyn. That great footage of you behind and your you standing behind him and your wonderful eyebrows at work . Yeah. There well, so its incredibly important in Public Discourse to be heard , but its discourse to be heard, but its equally important to listen to things that you dont agree with. And thats why gb news is so important that its allowed popular debates that were marginalised to come to the forefront. Its allowed communities that traditionally were ignored to be given a voice. So when people say that gb news has has dirtied the waters or the discourse, they couldnt be more wrong. What its allowed is for people who maybe wouldnt have been given the opportunity to have a media platform to come here and to share their views. And actually, i think thats the reason why traditional media is so concerned regard to is so concerned with regard to the person who threw the egg. The person who threw the egg. Unfortunately, we live in a society that rewards idiocy with attention, but that social media, thats instagram, isnt it . That guys doing it for, for likes. And youre right. But thats the way were going. This media is becoming going. This media is becoming ever more prominent. Going. This media is becoming ever more prominent. And for ever more prominent. And for this, this chap who thought it was a good idea to come and throw an egg at at the public broadcaster, probably broadcaster, he should probably reflect as to as to if thats something which which is helpful in way its going to in any way or if its going to just him likes. Yeah. Well, just give him likes. Yeah. Well, it doesnt any it certainly doesnt push any dialogue. I mean, dialogue further. I mean, sajeela do you think that things have become less toxic, more toxic . I mean, arguably, as toxic . I mean, arguably, as yusef was saying there, its people not having a voice that led to things like brexit. Oh, i agree, i agree. Like when you, when you, when you, when you, when you, when you, when you, when you, when you, when you reasons as well. But there are also i agree when you, when you silence people um its a recipe for disaster. But i mean, im not saying i agree the content like agree with all the content like yourself you in your yourself or you said in your monologue , i dont agree with yourself or you said in your motheigue , i dont agree with yourself or you said in your mothe content. Ont agree with yourself or you said in your mothe content. Ont know, with all the content. You know, sometimes im sometimes when i listen, im like, i like someone like, what . But i like someone like, what . But i like someone like know, the like mark, you know, come on the show. Me address that. Show. He lets me address that. And thats we dont get that anywhere else. You dont get like saying, you like someone saying, look, you dont what were dont agree with what were saying, what have you to saying, but what have you got to saying, but what have you got to say and say in response to that . And thats space that you thats thats a space that you wouldnt any other. Wouldnt have in any other. Agree you. But its i agree with you. But its also same as like also the same as like universities way were also the same as like univerforward way were also the same as like univerforward about way were also the same as like univerforward about way so are Going Forward about its so important these debates. Important to have these debates. Its to be this, to its so important to be this, to have a division as well, because thats only way you get any thats the only way you get any positive outcomes in these kind thats the only way you get any posbutz outcomes in these kind thats the only way you get any posbut itstcomes in these kind thats the only way you get any posbut its also es in these kind thats the only way you get any posbut its also how these kind thats the only way you get any posbut its also how you;e kind thats the only way you get any posbut its also how you comei of. But its also how you come up with your own opinions. Course, contrast to of course, in contrast to other people. Mean, you other people. I mean, do you guys politics with your guys talk politics with your with around with your family around the dinner absolutely do dinner table . I absolutely do politician very much so. And for us, its something that that we enjoy talking about. And i think maybe its not so controversial because we tend to share the same opinions. Think what you same opinions. I think what you were describing that there same opinions. I think what you were some bing that there same opinions. I think what you were some very that there same opinions. I think what you were some very disparate ere were some very disparate opinions. Yeah. And that would opinions. Yeah. And that would that bubble but that would bubble over. But i actually think that family is where should share your most where you should share your most intimate opinions. Thats where you should have that to and fro. You should have that to and fro. Yeah. Be a safe space. Yeah. It should be a safe space. And whats happened recently is that weve become so entrenched in our ideologies. Yeah family meetings and gatherings have the potential for real arguments. Um what we need is to come to a realisation that you can share , realisation that you can share, um, you know, love with someone who has a very different opinion to you. Have to Share Society to you. We have to Share Society with people who have very different opinions to us. And for me, coming on this show , for me, coming on this show, ive interacted with more left wingers, more people who are avidly in the centre then i would have otherwise. And i think that its provided an opportunity to learn. If we think about when we change our opinions, its usually when weve come across somebody whos really felt very strongly and argued a of course, very argued a point, of course, very well. Yeah, yeah. So its well. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So its about yeah. Is about growth. Yeah. Life is about growth. Yeah. Life is about growth. Yeah. Life is about growth. Absolutely. I about growth. Absolutely. I mean, youve been on the channel since the beginning. Really. Yeah. Noticed . Because yeah. Have you noticed . Because one noticed is one thing ive noticed is theres definitely less uh, frankly, just less hate frankly, theres just less hate out there anyway. I mean , im out there anyway. I mean, im getting it from other people, but the point is that when i came the before, it came on the channel before, it felt if you if you said an felt like if you if you said an opinion that disagree opinion that people disagree with, bonkers, with, people would go bonkers, whereas now think people are whereas now i think people are willing listen and go, okay, willing to listen and go, okay, that persons got that opinion, that persons. Thats different. Is the well, point at hand is the transbay, know , um, i transbay, which, you know, um, i mean, obviously, andrew, im very grateful that andrew doyle got the channel and that got me on the channel and that was that was such a toxic , thick was that was such a toxic, thick conversation. It was like, why . Why have we shut everyone down . We cant talk about this. And as we cant talk about this. And as a woman, it was like, why were all talking amongst ourselves and as you say, like safe space and as you say, like safe space and families , but like minded and families, but like minded people, like were all saying these things, but one is these things, but no one is giving voice a public giving that voice on a public platform. Did platform. And i guess that did happen. It did , it did. And happen. It did, it did. And talking about families like , talking about families like, obviously when im on, you know, my watch, um, my family watch, um, unbelievably , a lot of the asian unbelievably, a lot of the asian community, believe it or not, what do watch they what they do watch it and they oh, i really found that interesting that so and so said this, i like they said interesting that so and so said this,i i like they said interesting that so and so said this,i iwhat they said interesting that so and so said this,i iwhat that they said interesting that so and so said this,i iwhat that said. Said interesting that so and so said this,i iwhat that said. And and i like what that said. And so might not have watched so they might not have watched normally, theyre normally, but when theyre watching also watching it, theyre also changing way theyre changing the way that theyre thinking. And you said youve not had any hate like like you obviously , you know, you get the obviously, you know, you get the im so disappointed. Obviously, you know, you get the im so disappointed. And i im so disappointed. And i actually makes me more resolute. Actually makes me more resolute. Its like, you know, dont tell me what to do. Like i make my me what to do. Like i make my own decision. The fact that im an adult female, i can make my own decisions. I think weve all well, i think weve all decided that were pretty great. Uh, was a very serious uh, that was a very serious start. Were going to a bit start. Were going to get a bit sillier on. Uh, right. We sillier later on. Uh, right. Come up next in the good luck. Come up next in the big story. Well be joined by founder of money magpie jazz birtles to discuss economic doom mongers. Rail fare increases and Christmas Shopping footfall. I Christmas Shopping footfall. I know you guys love a bit of Christmas Shopping. Football talk. See you in two. Right. Your listening to gb news radio. Radio. Its time now for the big story. And tonight we are talking big money with fears that britain is on the brink of a potential recession. Chancellor jeremy a potential recession. Chancellorjeremy hunt has chancellor jeremy hunt has delivered some festive cheer by insisting that britons can look forward to a brighter year ahead and that Decisive Action taken by the government means that britain has turned a corner. By the government means that britain has turned a corner. But britain has turned a corner. But have we to discuss this . Im joined by founder of money magpie, Jasmine Birtles. Hello jasmine. Hello there are things genuinely looking up for next yeah or is this jeremy hunt trying to put a positive spin on things . Well, they do it every year. Well, they do it every year. You know, whoever it is, whether its the Prime Minister or in this case, the chancellor. Every year round about time, they year round about this time, they say going to a great say its going to be a great yeah say its going to be a great year. Is. Look at year. No, really, it is. Look at all things all the marvellous things that weve you hes weve done. And, you know, hes got much of the got a point that much of the economy is about confidence. It economy is about confidence. It really is if and weve been heanng really is if and weve been hearing this from retailers, they want to see more confidence in consumers, confidence that they will be able to pay for purchases. So theyll go around. So the more confident there is, its a self fulfilling prophecy. Its a self fulfilling prophecy. We however , jeremy hunt himself we however, jeremy hunt himself and this government has done everything they possibly could. It seems to me to dampen down our economy. We certainly, when our economy. We certainly, when it comes to tax , we are more way it comes to tax, we are more way more taxed now than they were. More taxed now than they were. We were just five years ago. Its horrendous. We have a big its horrendous. We have a big problem with Interest Rates when it comes to borrowing. And this is already affecting mortgages. Its affecting the Housing Market and its certainly affecting businesses. Um, and affecting businesses. Um, and what ive been saying for a little while now is that i personally am more concerned about recession than i am about inflation, and i am concerned that that the bank of england and the government generally seem to be obsessed with bringing down inflation down. Whereas really, to my mind, the main problem, the big bugbear thats sort of coming up potentially is recession. Potentially is recession. I mean, linking to that , i i mean, linking to that, i mean, its been reported that this years Christmas Eve, the, uh, shop footfall is down about 30 compared to last year. Do you think that the economy has really hit retail outlets this christmas . How do you think christmas . How do you think thats going to impact the economy next year . Yes i mean, to be honest, its not a surprise cause theres been a concern from retailers about this. And im on my side is a sort of consumer facing journalist that i talk about investing and also sort of consumer issues. I investing and also sort of consumer issues. I know that consumer issues. I know that theres been a lot of talk about doing second hand christmases , doing second hand christmases, free stuff for christmas. People saying, im not going to buy anything. So, you know, and anything. So, you know, and again , people like me have kids, again, people like me have kids, by the way, i just want to make sure with a lot of kids. No. And you know, people like me are encouraging consumers, not to spend too much because its been a tough year. Its looking like its going to be another, um, interest hinckley tough year. But i think what this does is and again, from from my side as being interested in business, um, it means that probably in january, february, we are going to see some more names falling. Falling apart , um, high street falling apart, um, high street names, potentially going under, um, because that does happen. As you know, sometimes its in a january that we see a few names just crashing. Just crashing. Would you dare to name any or would that lead to legal repercussions . Repercussions . Exactly. It could lead to repercussions , right . You know, repercussions, right . You know, doing the opposite of jeremy hunt saying, ooh, this could be bad. Soi hunt saying, ooh, this could be bad. So i dont want to. I dont want to jinx it. Um, but i think its just being, you know, its worth being aware that that could happen. Uh, also , it was sure. And, uh, also, it was announced friday that, uh, announced on friday that, uh, train ticket fares are to rise by 4. 9 in march next year. Uh, thats an increase thats expected to exceed inflation. What do you think, jasmine . Is it is it fair to do you get it . Is it fair anyway . Are we getting ripped off . It always feels like were getting ripped off. I do get it now. I didnt get it just then. Youre absolutely right. No i dont think its fair. I mean, really, we need it. We need the hole in the it. Like we need the hole in the head. Know, another head. You know, its yet another rise. Seeing rises rise. And we keep seeing rises everywhere. I mean, i was just talking just the other day about car insurance, which in some cases have gone, has up cases have gone, has gone up by 50, five, zero, and and it 50, five, zero, 50. And and it just feels as, as a consumer that everywhere you look prices are going up and you do wonder why with some of them you can think, well, its food restaurants. Yeah, i can see that. Thats thats kind of understandable. That is as you say, fair. But with rail tickets every year theyre going up and yet at the same time the service we get is worse and we dont have an option either, because , have an option either, because, well, were told that we should be using , uh, public transport be using, uh, public transport for you know, net zero. And, you know , being good to the planet know, being good to the planet and all that. And then it and all that. And then it becomes its already dodi too expensive for many of us, and theyre just making it even more expensive. So do we do . Go expensive. So what do we do . Go to you cant. Those are to cars or you cant. Those are expensive as well. So it feels as though were being forced to stay indoors for whatever reason. Yeah. No, its the same old story. But i mean, do you have any tips . Youre obviously youre an expert tips to save us money. Tips to make us money, tips for things to buy in the new year. The sale is going to be then, unfortunately. I be good then, unfortunately. I mean, exploit mean, i dont want to exploit the too but if the retailers too much, but if they have a lot of extra stock, does mean theres to does that mean theres going to be out there . Be some real bargains out there . I think there will be actually , yes. Seen im actually, yes. Ive seen im sure the high sure youve seen on the high street already. Sale signs street already. The sale signs are there. I saw some a are up there. I saw some a couple of days ago. Um, online. Couple of days ago. Um, online. There loads of sales as there are loads of sales as well. Hate to say it, but well. I hate to say it, but Christmas Day , Christmas Day Christmas Day, Christmas Day itself is one of the busiest shopping days online, which i feel i find a bit sad to be honest. But, um, you know, a lot of people are going there. Then on tuesday theyll be going into the high street, wednesday onto the high street, wednesday onto the there will, as the high street. There will, as you say, there will be a lot of bargains, its the usual bargains, but its the usual rule. Buy it just because rule. Dont buy it just because its a bargain. Only buy it if its a bargain. Only buy it if its something you would have bought otherwise, and youre just getting a cheapie. Youre getting a Good Discount and you need to know what it would have been, um, it was, you know, been, um, if it was, you know, the full price. Be the full price. So. So be careful with the sales and also watch your purse. Theres a watch your purse. Theres a whole lot of sale times. That is whole lot of sale times. That is a great time for fraudsters , a great time for fraudsters, pickpockets, online fraudsters is on the high street. Fraudsters so you have to be very careful. There and when it comes to making money, there are loads of ways. And to just blow my own trumpet here on my website money magpie. Com, we have hundreds ways have literally hundreds of ways that can make money. But that people can make money. But the first thing i think in january is to get some of your unwanted stuff, your unwanted presents or unwanted presents. Im sure nobody has any unwanted presents, unwanted presents and other things, you know, stuff in your cupboards. Its a great time to declutter, put them on ebay , put them on etsy, put them ebay, put them on etsy, put them on gumtree, nextdoor. Com, whatever. On gumtree, nextdoor. Com, whatever. Um, on gumtree, nextdoor. Com, whatever. Um, get on gumtree, nextdoor. Com, whatever. Um, get some cash in that way. And also over the, you that way. And also over the, you know, twixt miss basically tuesday onwards until the new yeah tuesday onwards until the new year. That sort of weird time when nothing happens and you wonder where everybody is. And unless of course , youre on the unless of course, youre on the high street shopping. But but twigg smith is a great time to get on top of your finances. Is, um, its a good time to go through your bank statements, see any money going see if theres any money going out. Shouldnt to , be um, out. That shouldnt to, be um, switch your insurance policies to have a look at if you can switch some, some other things, like , you know, gas and like, you know, gas and electricity, etc. And also a time to look at your pension statements , which nobody ever statements, which nobody ever does because theyre awful letters, you know. But if you can get a few of those things donein can get a few of those things done in that boring week, maybe in front of the telly , you could in front of the telly, you could potentially save £1,000. Today, sarah vine wrote worker. Today, sarah vine wrote in the daily mail questioning if christmas is mainly all womens work. Why is santa a man . As we all know, sarah is the ex wife of government minister michael gove, so maybe this is an insight into how christmas went down in their house. Speaking of his santa right now, there , his santa right now, there, bosnia there, this is the live feed of the norad santa tracker. The north American Aerospace defence command and he is monitoring their monitoring his movements. And it shows that hes right now hes just heading over venice. Hes just left bosnia. So theyve got all their presents. And hes his presents. And now hes on his way. Lucky venetians, way to venice. Lucky venetians, venice, venice , i dont know. Venice, venice, i dont know. Theyve been tracking his annual trip, norad, since 1955. After one child phoned the command centre asking for santas location. Anyway, what do you location. Anyway, what do you all think . Should santa be all think . Should santa be a woman . What do you think now, gina, youve got a special story here. Weve heard about before the show. Yes, i to play, um, yes, i got to play, um, a female santa, a few years back at the poodle comedy club. Um, it was kind of big thing for adults, like for adult people to come along. And i played santa. I didnt, i mean , you know, i i didnt, i mean, you know, i didnt want to wear a white. So i said, look, im just going to wear dark beard. So i put wear a dark beard. So i put a dark far more dark beard up is far more authentic. Yeah, far more authentic. Yeah, far more authentic. I authentic. Dark beard. I was a young santa, obviously young young santa, obviously a young santa , early santa, early santa. Santa, early santa, early santa. And like, basically i just looked like a bin laden santa and having his adult men sitting on my come sit on my knees are what have you been a naughty boy . 7 you 7 you know, 7 you know, i . You know, i was i was 7 you know, i was i was santa for years at my childs nursery. Me and all the kids, i kept on being there and they would just spot because i had to wear my glasses. Literally i glasses. I literally one year i didnt glasses and didnt wear my glasses and i couldnt anything. Was couldnt see anything. It was just it it just falling over. It was. It was terrible. Blind santa. Thats where the disabled community. Yeah. Eh e in your house, so yeah, in your house, i dont i mean, youre dont know. I mean, youre married you the married yourself, do you do the work . Do you . I mean, obviously you dont celebrate christmas. I imagine i am actually single. Um, you really saying i am i um, are you really saying i am i am, um, i always this assumption. Hes like a young josh howie. Hes like a young josh howie. Look, what do you put together . Look, what do you put together . You just feel like we look the same, similar age or something . No, no. No, no. Oh, no, hes very young. Oh, no. No, hes very young. Oh, no. No, hes very young. Saying all jews are you saying that all jews look same . I dont know, look the same . I dont know, its me. Weve had bin laden santa comments yes , now santa comments and yes, now were going with. Yeah, you got to get yourself on jdate there. Well, much. Ill well, thank you very much. Ill hook hook you up. Hook you up. Ill hook you up. My cousin after the show. Well steering yes. Well steering the conversation back to back to santa. Conversation back to back to sar um, no, conversation back to back to sarum, no, i think that every um, no, i think that every time a festival comes around , time a festival comes around, theres contingent of people theres a contingent of people who anything thats who want to bash anything thats traditional. Ive said traditional. And as ive said before, theyve gone for james bond. Theyve gone for doctor who, and now theyre coming for santa. Um, so i think we should we should keep our traditions in this and just for this country and just just for a serious quote that i love, uh, tradition is the answer to questions that we no longer remember. And if you do away with the the question remember. And if you do away witareie the question remember. And if you do away witare sure the question remember. And if you do away witare sure to the question remember. And if you do away witare sure to come question remember. And if you do away witare sure to come back. Tion remember. And if you do away witare sure to come back. On remember. And if you do away witare sure to come back. So we is, are sure to come back. So we need role models. We need need male role models. We need female female role models to. But santa male. And but lets keep santa male. And what do you think, chris . Have you got a better than you got a better quote than that . No im just going to quote shakespeare, ive forgotten. Shakespeare, but ive forgotten. Do know what im now, do you know what im raising Year Old Girl and raising a ten Year Old Girl and its and its the world is changing. And just ideologies and just to these ideologies and culture differences, i just think certainly can be think it certainly can be whoever wants to hes whoever he wants to be. Hes just this magical figure. They they, they want, want to they, they want, they want to be. But you know, in my house, my wife is , you know, mrs. My wife is, you know, mrs. Claus, shes the one who does all the rapping. The all the rapping. Shes the one who everything. Of who does everything. I kind of hibernate because im just hibernate away because im just useless anyway, stuff like that. But i think thats what it comes down to. The is, im comes down to. The fact is, im a better yeah, yeah. And a better rapper. Yeah, yeah. And im better cook, so thats why im a better cook, so thats why im a better cook, so thats why i it all. My brother i have to do it all. My brother in law doing all the cooking in law is doing all the cooking tomorrow, so he it every tomorrow, so he does it every yeah tomorrow, so he does it every year, really pride year, and he takes really pride in cooking the turkey and stuff. Theyre like, theyre and theyre like, theyre great and my great team. My sister and my brother and all. But theres been a shortage of santas this yeah been a shortage of santas this year, for some santa year, so i went for some santa gigs okay. They a gigs okay. Because they pay a lot the way. And lot of money, by the way. And they were like, no, we only want white theres white male santas and theres a shortage you shortage of them. Can you believe its terrible. Believe it . Its terrible. So guys there next year get guys out there next year get that gig going. Growing beard. Im growing the beard. Im growing the beard. You got beard, got im growing the beard. Beard. T beard, got the beard. Uh, during annual address uh, during his annual address to the nation tomorrow, King Charless Christmas Speech is set a message about charless Christmas Speech is set environment. 1essage about charless Christmas Speech is set environment. And|ge about charless Christmas Speech is set environment. And it; about charless Christmas Speech is set environment. And it seems the environment. And it seems that he has an eco friendly theme his pre recorded theme to his pre recorded speech. Has been speech. An image has been released next released of him, stood next to a tree with roots intact tree with its roots still intact and sustainable decorations made from materials. So from recyclable materials. So what do you make of this . Is there any harm in the king using his platform to address the environmentally , uh, concerned environmentally, uh, concerned issues . Or should the kings issues . Or should the kings speech remain traditionally apolitical . What do you think, chris . No, i think giving that platform let him speak about the environment, because, you know, its something ignore its something we cant ignore for you know, we are killing for we you know, we are killing the environment. We are. You the environment. We are. You know, were so focussed at the moment and all these other things which is affecting the political kind of environment and war, and we forget about these really, really important issues, which hes always addressed , hasnt he . Hes addressed, hasnt he . Hes always been that kind of environmentalist and, you know, good for him. Use that platform. Do it, change the speech. Why not . But do you think use of i mean, hes going to start off, um , start small and then next um, start small and then next year its going to be like, youve all got to heat pumps youve all got to get heat pumps and hes breaking us in with these sustainable Christmas Decorations. Ive read the decorations. Ive read the article that that were talking about here. And it does, um, state or intimate that he will be trying to get his message across by having this tree there. I dont think hell be talking about it overtly. Its talking about it overtly. Its important that the royal family remains neutral. I think the royal family is as popular as it is because its managed to remain neutral under the leadership of the queen, so leadership of the queen, and so king charles going to have to king charles is going to have to straddle a very careful line. But hes hes a man who has long standing views on the environment. I think we can expect that the queen would find ways of slipping in her views very subtly. Ways of slipping in her views very subtly. Um, and we have a new king. I think we should support our king. I think the monarchy for me is, uh , integral monarchy for me is, uh, integral part of our culture. So, yes, he has to be careful about taking sides politically, but we should also give him a bit of rope to establish himself and his style as monarch. As monarch. Yeah. Bravo. Interesting because im a completely kind of like having a different view on this. Hes 70. When he got to the 70, right. 70. He got to the job. Hes not going to change. So hes always talked about the environment. So hes always talked about the envi weve nt. To so hes always talked about the enviwevent. To get so hes always talked about the enviweve nt. To get that so hes always talked about the envi weve nt. To get that that and weve got to get that that hes got his own thing kind of happening with what youre saying. Think why not saying. Yes and i think why not just say what he wants to say exactly. Fair enough. Hes the king. Fair enough. Hes the king. A hypocrite. Hes a hypocrite. Hes a hypocrite. There is. Well, right . There is. Well, im glad youre going to be watching tomorrow. James cleverly is today facing criticism for facing strong criticism for reportedly a reportedly making a joke at a private downing street function about spiking his wifes drink with is with rohypnol, which is otherwise as the date rape otherwise known as the date rape drug. It is alleged that he said that the ideal spouse someone that the ideal spouse of someone who is sedated so who always mildly is sedated so she can never realise there are better men out there now. A spokesperson for the home secretary that secretary has said that he apologised meant to apologised for what was meant to be joke in what he be an ironic joke in what he understood to a private understood to be a private conversation big conversation. So the big question should james question is should James Cleverly be sacked for this . What do you think . Sajeela . Was it a private conversation . It was a reception where they had political journalists attending and hes just made some, you know, suggestions for like spiking dnnks suggestions for like spiking drinks on that very day decides to make a joke. Drinks on that very day decides to make a joke. Fair enough. If to make a joke. Fair enough. If youre in any other place , if youre in any other place, if even if its an office party, you remember those office parties love having parties they used to love having years well, even years ago illegally . Well, even if one of those, if it was one of those, it wasnt. It was. It was. It was in his state as as a as a politician that he said that hes not a comedian. And so hes not a comedian. And so making that people make not not only comedians be fired. No. I dont think he should be fired, but think it was it was wrong but i think it was it was wrong of to make a joke like that of him to make a joke like that on circumstances. On under those circumstances. Yeah, but but i dont think he should be fired or told hes apologised and i think thats enough. And hes apologised at joseph but also so, uh, we have to place this somewhat in context because it was their legislation , this government that he is putting to stop putting through to stop precisely surely its precisely this. Surely its actions that matter actions that that matter more than a stupid joke. I think that was evidence that people in stressful situations , actions stressful situations, actions use inappropriate jokes as a kind of cathartic response to some extent. But you mentioned context. James cleverly is he comes across as incredibly devoted to his wife, whos been battling cancer, and hes documented this. I followed him, hes he does not come across as somebody who is in any way abuse his wife or drug her. He was clearly joking. And we need to clearly joking. And we need to ask. Not a joke. Not a joke. Its not a joke. Its not. It was it was a disgusting thing to say, but it was a disgusting joke. And. And what kind of society do we want to live in . You seasonal. Society do we want to live in . Youits seasonal. Society do we want to live in . Youits not seasonal. Society do we want to live in . Youits not aboutisonal. Society do we want to live in . Youits not about the al. Society do we want to live in . Youits not about the joke. Its its not about the joke. Its about his position. You dont use kind of lexicon that use that kind of lexicon in that position. Rape not position. Date rape is not a joke. It is not a joke. Joke. No, its it is not a joke. But he meant it in a humorous way. I think he was trying to say, of course its of course, date rape is not joke. But date rape is not a joke. But i think what he trying be think what he was trying to be was self deprecating. That the only someone like him only way that someone like him would someone, know, would get someone, you know, hes make hes trying to make pay a distasteful is disabled. Its both those things. But at time, i think he did at the same time, i think he did the i mean , you know, he the right i mean, you know, he did the right things. Like the right i mean, you know, he dmade right things. Like the right i mean, you know, he dmade rightlikeigs. Like the right i mean, you know, he dmade rightlike is. Like the right i mean, you know, he dmade rightlike i said, like the right i mean, you know, he dmade rightlike i said, in you dont use that kind of langu doesnt mean to say hes you dont use that kind of langto doesnt mean to say hes you dont use that kind of langto resign mean to say hes you dont use that kind of langto resign like, n to say hes you dont use that kind of langto resign like, i to say hes you dont use that kind of langto resign like, i mean, hes got to resign like, i mean, i agree, you comedians , we do all agree, you comedians, we do all the time, we that and we the time, we have that and we can sort of like, hey, can have that sort of like, hey, were was a joke, were a comedian. It was a joke, but in those tense moments, but he in those tense moments, yes, i agree with you that you but he in those tense moments, yesmakeree with you that you but he in those tense moments, yesmake those h you that you but he in those tense moments, yesmake those jokes, that you but he in those tense moments, yesmake those jokes, but you but he in those tense moments, yesmake those jokes, but itou but he in those tense moments, yesmake those jokes, but it was do make those jokes, but it was the make at the the wrong joke to make at the wrong time. And hes apologised. Ask guys you ill ask you guys this if you guys that in your guys can tell me that in your lives youve never said anything in that would have in private that would have you cancelled or get fired. Do my whatsapp, ill be oh, do my whatsapp, ill be cancelled. Left, right and centre. Centre. T t first date. No, cast the first date. No, i say public. Say in public. No. Well, no. Well, no. But are you talking about greenrooms . Anybody. Greenrooms . If anybody. You guys. Believe guys. You wont believe how evil i know. Know , because course, i know, because of course, its like youre what you your level of acceptable has level of whats acceptable has gone different level. Gone to a different level. I mean, really dark. And the things that we say backstage, we might not say straight after a big , but thats im big thing, but thats what im trying say james trying to say is, james carville, youre welcome to come and join us. Dont but do the dont do that, but do the open for and open mic circuit for years and years. Up in my years. Right. Coming up in my take at ten, im going to have a bit of a moan about the pro palestinian aka pro hamas marches trying to ruin christmas. Showbiz christmas. But next top showbiz journalist nelson aspen will be here to tell us about the biggest stories of the year and what we look forward to in welcome back to mark dolan tonight with me, josh howie. Tonight with me, josh howie. What a year it has been in the entertainment world. We had barbie heimer, the summer where the release of two huge movies revived the cinema going experience for many. Meanwhile, p0p experience for many. Meanwhile, pop star taylor swift reached such a height of fame that she was named time magazines person of year, an honour which has of the year, an honour which has previously reserved previously been reserved for president s. Business president s. Pope business tycoons and my favourite manipulated child, greta thunberg. And here to talk me through this years hits and misses and to tell us what to look out for in 2024. Its the brilliant entertainment journalist and author nelson aspen. Hello. Welcome how are aspen. Hello. Welcome how are you . You . Thank you. Thank you. Seasons greetings. Its been a terrific year. Im very jolly. Im going to get out of here and go see the tree at Rockefeller Centre as soon as were done. Because im here in new york city. To say, if one city. But i have to say, if one showbiz headline dominated above all others in 2023, it had to be the strike between the studios and the writers and the actors. And the writers and the actors. The wga Writers Union and the sag aftra actors union. It sag aftra actors union. It paralysed not only the economy for the Entertainment Industry , for the Entertainment Industry, but it paralysed viewing habits. But it paralysed viewing habits. So we were we were shortchanged a lot of entertainment packages. That has come back. And as you mention , ed bernheimer , the mention, ed bernheimer, the combination weekend of barbie and oppenheimer , two polar and oppenheimer, two polar opposites kind of films , but opposites kind of films, but they brought in almost 2 billion worldwide. And that really did rejuvenate the movie industry. So those would be the dominating positive stories that they were able to work out. The strike, uh, even though it took a while and the fact that people are going back to the theatres and seeing quality films as well, but how is that going to affect next year . Because imagining with no because im imagining with no tv made for what tv shows or films made for what was it, five months, six months . Uh, thats going to have a knock on effect. Are we just going to be watching repeats through 2024 . There is so much in the pipeline you wont even notice the viewer would not the average viewer would not even notice the shortfall. Uh, even notice the shortfall. Uh, so thats thats the good news. And i think what were also going to see coming up very soon, the first week of the new yeah soon, the first week of the new year, fact, were going year, in fact, were going to see the resurgence of award see the resurgence of the award season, Golden Globes are season, the Golden Globes are back. They are being reimagined now that theyve freed themselves from the Hollywood Foreign press. And were going foreign press. And were going to all award season to have all the award season glitz and glamour with quality films , and were going see films, and were going to see the maestro the the likes of maestro and the holdovers of the holdovers and killers of the flower moon. Uh barbie, even were going to see box office pleasure a lot of time as these award shows dont recognise the commercial successes, but theyve theyve sort of changed theyve theyve sort of changed the rules a little bit to include nominations for those crowd pleasers. And that will get more eyeballs onto the telecast, which will turn into ratings, and the shows will be better. Even the granddaddy of all the Sports Events here in the states, the super bowl is going to be held in los angeles this year, and that will bring on a whole hollywood level to the whole deal. You mentioned taylor swift earlier. It is her world. Were just living in her world. Were just living in her world. But the amount of success she has enjoyed this year commercially , culturally, uh, commercially, culturally, uh, you name it, she is. Its just shes taken over, including the billion dollars worth of sales from her tours from her recordings, a new boyfriend , as recordings, a new boyfriend, as you mentioned, time magazines person of the year. And i dont want to say shes the winner of the year, but we all know she is. Whos the loser of the year . This isnt necessarily my opinion, but according to the hollywood reporter, its Meghan Markle and prince harry, so they didnt have quite the success they were hoping for with their podcasts. And other endeavours. But theyre re imagining themselves and well see if they have a happier 2024. And in, uh, 1 or 2 words, whats the film weve got to look out for . Well, gosh , i dont know. I think, gosh, i dont know. I think, maestro, for me personally, its maestro. I dont necessarily like the crowd pleasers, but i am a music lover, so ill go with that. Bradley cooper for best actor. Best actor. Brilliant. Thank you so much. Thanks for joining brilliant. Thank you so much. Thanks forjoining us. Have a lovely christmas coming up in thanks forjoining us. Thanks, ray. I enjoy the christmas tie you have on. Welcome to mark dolan tonight with me josh howie impressionist, funny woman and all round entertainer Francine Lewis joins me shortly. Well be talking about pantomime and hopefully getting a few impressions out of her. Make sure you stay to hear her. Katie price weve got top chef Andrew Hutton giving us all his top tips to ensure you have a gaffe free christmas dinner. My panel tonight is political commentator and social workerjoseph david, broadcaster and comedian sir geila curci and campaigner and author chris wild. And theyll be nominating their greatest britons and Union Jackasses. Its a packed hour coming up, but first my take at ten. In the lead up to this christmas , one lead up to this christmas, one of the most popular memes thats been going around states that jesus was a palestinian. Now of course, jesus was a jew from judea. Im sure theres a clue in there somewhere. Jesus would in there somewhere. Jesus would never have even heard of the word palestine because it was 100 years after his death at a jewish revolt led to the romans punishing the jews by kicking most of us out and renaming the area syria, palestine. And since area syria, palestine. And since then, there has never actually been a sovereign country called palestine. Our facts are pesky palestine. Our facts are pesky things to pro hamas activists. Theres another meme out there which asks how mary and joseph would make it to bethlehem on this night. Through the present security the west bank. Security walls in the west bank. What they, of course, fail to mention that a jewish mention is that as a jewish woman , mary would most likely woman, mary would most likely have been and kidnapped have been raped and kidnapped with western feminist organisations. With western feminist organisations. Then totally organisations. Then totally ignonng organisations. Then totally ignoring joseph would have had his head cut off. Now all of that activity is online. It doesnt affect the real world. Or does it rival Media Organisations are making this big deal about how this year in bethlehem, christmas is supposedly cancelled with blame predictably being directed at israel because of the israel gaza war, a war that israel did not start and what those Media Organisations always mysteriously fail to mention is how, because of islamist persecution , the number of persecution, the number of christian palestinians in bethlehem has decreased from 86 of the population to now just 10 in gaza. Since hamas took overin 10 in gaza. Since hamas took over in two thousand and seven. The 3500 christians are now to down 1000, and in israel, its the only country in the middle east where the christian population has actually increased. And what about closer to home in the west . Yesterday, pro palestinian activists shut down the entrance of ohara airport in chicago. Just as airport in chicago. Just as thousands of people are trying to get home to their families for christmas. And look at this clip from australia in melbourne, a Christmas Carol event was disrupted by activists storming the stage, ruining the hard work of the performers and marring a special evening out for families. And even closer to for families. And even closer to home today. Yesterday actually in londons oxford street, here we are , the now weekly outing of we are, the now weekly outing of islamist and far left crank succeeded in shutting down shops and preventing people from getting Christmas Shopping getting their Christmas Shopping done. The getting their Christmas Shopping done. The met police then had the temerity to post online that the temerity to post online that the march peaceful , as the march was peaceful, as though intimidating to though intimidating shops to close on one of their busiest days year somehow days of the year is somehow peaceful acceptable. Whats peaceful and acceptable. Whats even more insane is that that particular shop in the clip, zara has absolutely nothing to do with israel. Its a spanish do with israel. Its a spanish Fashion Company that i sometimes buy shorts from. Activists have buy shorts from. Activists have taken offence at an Advertising Campaign that they feel mocks tragic gazan civilian casualties. Except the link is tenuous at best, not least because the ads were conceived and shot in the months before the pogrom against jews on october 7th. Now, this isnt to say that there arent any legitimate questions to ask about the conflict between israel and gaza is israel doing everything it can to prevent civilian deaths . Whats the best way of getting the hostages home . What does the future for gaza look like . Ask these gaza look like . Ask these questions, sure, but dont lie. And in corporate terms that dont apply, like genocide and ethnic cleansing and apartheid. Now heres a clip from yesterday in gaza. Oh, wait, it was in gaza. Oh, wait, it was actually Turkey Bombing kurdish positions. How strange to not positions. How strange to not see that on the news or being condemned by the islamists and the far left cranks. What a bunch of hypocrites. There happy to try and ruin christmas for everyone else. But they wont protest or post stuff when its muslims killing muslims when hundreds of thousands were murdered in syria. I dont remember activists trying to shut down christmas. Then and why not . Because simply it didnt involve jews. So id like didnt involve jews. So id like to say to all these supposedly pro palestinian activists and by the way, i consider myself pro palestinian. Please its christmas. Leave jesus alone. And whilst youre at it, can you leave his people, the jews , leave his people, the jews, alone as well . Right. Lets hear alone as well . Right. Lets hear from tonights top pundits. Yosef david, political commentator, social worker sevilla kirsch , broadcaster, sevilla kirsch, broadcaster, comedian chris wild, campaigner and author. Now now lets go to gila , my friend. First weve had gila, my friend. First weve had some little for online there. Im honey , who hurts you . Who im honey, who hurts you . Who huns im honey, who hurts you . Who hurts you . Well, who hurts you . Was it well, who hurts you . Was it a muslim . Was it . No no, because theres a lot of anti islam mc like. I dont think theres any anti islamic force. It is like beheadings and, well, these things did happen. Rapes, you know, they didnt happen 7th. Happen october 7th. Talking about youre not talking about october 7th your monologue october 7th in your monologue because it twice and because i read it twice and i obviously i knew today i thought, lovely thought, josh, my old lovely friend, doesnt like some of thought, josh, my old lovely frieistuff doesnt like some of thought, josh, my old lovely frieistuff iveesnt like some of thought, josh, my old lovely frieistuff ive said. Like some of thought, josh, my old lovely frieistuff ive said. So some of thought, josh, my old lovely frieistuff ive said. So hesie of the stuff ive said. So hes going to come in there with all guns blazing with one of his monologues. Right. And monologues. I knew it right. And its christmas, its its fine. Its christmas, its christmas. Ones to christmas. No ones trying to cancel ones doing cancel christmas. No ones doing that. Literally that. There are literally protests out there of protests out there of exactly people doing that , stopping people doing that, stopping people going home, stopping people stopping. You were pro palestine, right . You just said were pro palestine. Said you were pro palestine. Yeah, doesnt im yeah, but that doesnt mean im going christmas for going to shut down christmas for everybody shut down christmas. Nobodys shut down christmas. Nobodys shut down christmas. Which theyre protesting, which is our in this our god damn right in this country. Thank god to be able to protest wouldnt to protest and i wouldnt want to lose. Dont think you want lose. And i dont think you want to lose that. I dont think anybody but what do is to what i dont want to do is to shut the right of people to shut down the right of people to enjoy festive period. Enjoy the festive period. Well literally did. Well literally did. They thats what they were literally thats what they were lite projects protested projects protested for womens projects protested for w how do you think shutting down zara is going to in any way help the Palestinian People . Doesnt. And ive got, you it doesnt. And ive got, you know, treading cautiously know, im treading cautiously here two i here because i want two things i want want children in gaza to want i want children in gaza to strip being murdered. Want i want children in gaza to stripi being murdered. Want i want children in gaza to stripi want being murdered. Want i want children in gaza to stripi want the ing murdered. Want i want children in gaza to stripi want the israeli, rdered. Want i want children in gaza to stripi want the israeli, uh,ad. And i want the israeli, uh, people come back people captives to come back home. I want two things want home. I want two things i want peace. Yeah, pro human and peace. Yeah, im pro human and people protesting. You know, i people protesting. You know, i have a ten Year Old Girl who wants to go out and protest. She wants to go out and protest. She wants to go out and protest. She wants to show her her solidarity to the palestine and to the israelis well. And youre israelis as well. And youre right. Not right. Stopping christmas is not going to do anything. But unfortunately, we cannot we cannot eye to cannot turn a blind eye to whats happening at the moment with getting murdered. I mean, you know what youre saying but, saying about your daughter, but, you you go on these you know, when you go on these marches, no one is saying there are posters are no posters on these pro palestinian saying pro palestinian marches saying free, the hostages or free, uh, free. The hostages or saying hamas. Uh, so stop firing 10,000 missiles now at israel. So it doesnt seem like a genuinely fair thing. I so it doesnt seem like a genuinely fairthing. I mean, you said its not a fair thing. Its not a fair thing. When the idf are shooting , are the idf are shooting, are shooting a shooting, hostages are shooting hostages in their homes. But i have a word here. But the point is that we do live in a society where protest is a big part of that society. Its integral to the way that we live our lives. Um however, we should we should look at the nature of the protests. You mentioned. The protests. You mentioned. Your daughter wants to advocate for the for the israeli hostages and for the palestinian children. There isnt such a protest. And the reason there isnt such a because these a protest is because these are partisan protests taking place, particularly on, on, on, on the sides of people who are advocating for palestinian rights is theyre completely ignonng rights is theyre completely ignoring the fact that there are two sides in this, uh, conflict and that both are in an incredibly difficult situation. Incredibly difficult situation. The people marching arent asking hamas to do anything that would limit the conflict. Theyre not using their platform to say, please return the hostages, because for all the bellicose language that comes from politicians , if the from israeli politicians, if the hostages released, would hostages were released, it would change facts the ground change the facts on the ground immediately and are immediately. And those are movements show any movements that didnt show any respect veterans. And respect to our veterans. And they marched and i dont they marched anyway. And i dont expect respect for expect them to show respect for christmas. And theres one more christmas. And theres one more point. Ill say on this is that when children are dying and ive seen that are horrific seen things that are horrific and that i will never forget it with regard to what people are going but did going through in gaza. But did we just understand . Did we just learn that war is horrific, that war hell , war learn that war is horrific, that war hell, war is learn that war is horrific, that war hell , war is awful, learn that war is horrific, that war hell, war is awful, and war is hell, war is awful, and hamas thought about hamas should have thought about it, they went and it, that before they went and butchered so murder butchered the people. So murder is one two wrongs dont make absolutely , absolutely. Absolutely, absolutely. I understand but but understand that, but but but israel needs to be able to go in and hostages back and and get their hostages back and the protest completely ignore the protest completely ignore the fact that that this conflict was was precipitated by, by butchery. Mhm. Yeah. Its uh butchery. Mhm. Yeah. Its uh look, i, i appreciate its a tncky look, i, i appreciate its a tricky thing. Its an emotional thing for, for all of us i think, i mean and we are lucky enough here we are to be sitting in safety, relative safety. In safety, in relative safety. I guess for me its just there is hypocrisy and maybe theres hypocrisy and maybe theres hypocrisy on both sides. I get that, know, but at the same that, you know, but at the same time of shutting time its this thing of shutting down. Theres a need. I understand that protests have an impact when they when they get attention. But to i dont see that it helps any cause by shutting down, uh, family event out where theyre all seeing Christmas Carols. Well, its interesting because it goes back to just stop and know weve done stop oil. And i know weve done shows where weve both shows together where weve both been angry just stop been angry about the just stop oil, ive really had oil, and ive really had to rethink you know, going rethink this as you know, going on these shows does right. And i on these shows does right. And i do our right to protest do think our right to protest has to be upheld above any discomfort that we feel as shoppers. We still get a christmas tomorrow, but you know, all those hostages , all know, all those hostages, all the people in gaza, the people who couldnt get to , they who couldnt get to, they couldnt get they couldnt get a hotel. They will get to them. Its an inconvenience because the airports were blocked with the airports were blocked with the airports. This is in chicago, at ohare airport. Blocked. Airport. They were blocked. I dont about chicago. I dont know about chicago. Im about london. I dont know about chicago. Im more bout london. I dont know about chicago. Im more than london. I dont know about chicago. Im more than anidon. Its more than an inconvenience. But inconvenience. Yeah, but its ruining inconvenience. Yeah, but its ruirokay. Okay so thats an okay. So. Okay so thats an interesting point you raise because globally have because globally there have been marches all over the world, globally saying that whats happening, is israel is happening, what is israel is doing right now with netanyahu. Doing right now with netanyahu. I never pronounce his name. I can never pronounce his name. Yeah. The end, man, what hes yeah. At the end, man, what hes doing thats doing is not right. And thats thats also you cant you cant be deaf to those those voices that are speaking out throughout the world and saying , this is the world and saying, this is this is wrong. I just also this is wrong. I just and also sympathising with the hostages, of young people sympathising with the hostages, of angry young people sympathising with the hostages, of angry. Young people are angry. Theyre taking the streets theyre taking to the streets because dont know because they dont know what else do, because else to do, because i think were first were watching this the first time were a war or time were watching a war or images on social media, images unfold on social media, and im not on twitter anymore because but because i got i got hacked, but im um , instagram and ive im on, um, instagram and ive never seen a dead body of a horror before in life. Horror before in my life. Every night, if im like, but every night, if im like, i to stop because its like i had to stop because its like these dead children and these arent made up things. These are arent made up things. These are things. This is real. This is really happening in time. Really happening in real time. The one just having the one side just having things social things about social media because the same i because but at the same time, i dont someone your dont believe someone like your daughter necessarily seeing daughter necessarily is seeing the full story understanding the full story or understanding the full story or understanding the complexity of the historical complexity of the region the historical complexity of the reg i n think anybody cares i dont think anybody cares about the history right now. They care. They want, they they dont care. They want, they want. Say these people want. I dont say these people arent marching because theyre thinking history. Thinking about the history. Theyre thinking right theyre thinking about the right here, is here, right now. What is happening . My point is devastating. And i would say yourself, you might have seen the video of people protesting last week at zara, where they shut it down, where they were asked, where they were being asked, why are here . No one are you protesting here . No one had an answer. No, theyve just been ive been on protests been told. Ive been on protests my entire life. And people you always and people you would always get why you get people like, why are you here dont know, unity. Here today . I dont know, unity. Thats what you mentioned. Thats what you mentioned. Oil there. Just stop oil right there. Tactics have undoubtedly raised awareness , but theyve also awareness, but theyve also caused people to become entrenched and to really take issue with theyre doing. Issue with what theyre doing. And want , um, issue with what theyre doing. And want, um, others and if people want, um, others who outside of the movement who are outside of the movement to look in and think, oh, theyve got a message which has utility, got value. It utility, its got value. It dont, um, interrupt christmas celebrations. Dont interrupt armistice day. You know , show respect. But i you know, show respect. But i understand where youre coming from, that people are angry. People want to go on the streets and to advocate for people who have no rights by what they can understand. But at same time understand. But at the same time , we can be balanced with this , we can be balanced with this, you know, so there was there was 300,000 people on, on, on the streets of palestine. There was 100,000 people on the streets against anti semitism. And there was a which at both was a march which looked at both sides. Think had sides. And i think they had maybe 100 people there. The point we were allowing point is that we were allowing ourselves entrenched point is that we were allowing ourselvehave entrenched point is that we were allowing ourselvehave to entrenched point is that we were allowing ourselvehave to try. Entrenched point is that we were allowing ourselvehave to try. Ientrenched point is that we were allowing ourselvehave to try. I agree ched point is that we were allowing ourselvehave to try. I agree 100. And we have to try. I agree 100. Try to empathise with with the other side, and we dont need a ceasefire. Need peace. Thank ceasefire. We need peace. Thank you. Okay also i just say, but also can i just say, well, were talking about outside together outside about working together and communities like i do a lot of interfaith and i think of interfaith work. And i think thats us thats really important for us to and because to keep talking. And because what was really sad for me and i talked my show talked about it in my show before, watching friends before, is watching my friends and friends, kind and our friends, you know, kind of taking sides and being really like, on each other and of taking sides and being really like, being on each other and of taking sides and being really like, being and| each other and of taking sides and being really like, being and itsch other and of taking sides and being really like, being and its like, her and of taking sides and being really like, being and its like, hang|d like being and its like, hang on were here in the on a minute. Were here in the uk, safe. Weve got to uk, were safe. Weve got to stop on. It is an stop taking on. So it is an emotive , it is an emotive thing, emotive, it is an emotive thing, especially when you have children and women being killed in eyes social in front of our eyes on social media real but theres media in real time. But theres anidea i media in real time. But theres an idea i want to share. An idea that i want to share. Chief said that we the chief rabbi said that we are in this country are well placed in this country to peace to to export the idea of peace to the east. Weve got weve the middle east. Weve got weve got great opportunity here the middle east. Weve got weve got theeat opportunity here the middle east. Weve got weve got the communities. here the middle east. Weve got weve got the communities. heron with the communities. Get on right. Part, the right. For the most part, the all communities in uk all the communities in the uk get on and we can show that this can work and can export it to can work and we can export it to the east this is an the middle east and this is an opportunity we have. But we opportunity that we have. But we need to look being need to look at being overly partisan ourselves partisan and allying ourselves with, with groups that only see one side. Well, maybe we can have a Little Christmas miracle. Have a Little Christmas miracle. Very nice sir. Thank you so much, guys. Very. I know were all emotive about this, but very respectful. And was the respectful. And that was the whole its whole point coming up. Its impressionist and all round. Funny Francine Lewis. She funny woman. Francine lewis. Its going brilliantly. Weve its going brilliantly. Weve had packed out audiences today. We had Lorraine Stanley on, um, come in from eastenders. We had Lorraine Stanley on, um, come in from eastenders. She come in from eastenders. She absolutely loved the show. Its absolutely loved the show. Its been fantastic. I mean, im loving it. Im loving being an evil person. Every single day. Its fantastic. Do you think the pantomimes are making a bit of a comeback . I think so, i mean, i know theyre always here, but it just feels like maybe theyre , uh. Its not like theyre going anywhere, but certainly post covid and people now returning to live entertainment, obviously through covid, there no through covid, there was no pantomimes. Pantomimes. But i mean, ive been doing pantomime late 90s and pantomime since the late 90s and i absolutely love it. Its what christmas is about. I love just, you know, meeting. I love also you know, meeting. I love also like just meeting all the children after, but playing a wicked part after playing princesses for years and snow white and its really different because kids are so nervous to meet you and they almost want to look at you. And thats just because im an amazing actress, though. Yeah yeah. Of course. Then they yeah, in real life they, they think youre going to cast a spell on them. A spell. Yeah. And uh, youve been signing a book as well, think. Is that right . Well, i think. Is that right . Its busy. Its pretty busy. There it is. My book. I play and ive been doing book signings and its been just amazing meeting everybody and meeting children, seeing meeting the children, seeing people buying my books. Its absolute lovely. I just love it. Can i ask you a question . Nothing what can i say . Oh, yes. Nothing what can i say . Oh, yes. Well, here we go. Weve got some impressions now, i was going to ask if you, um, ever wear normal clothing. Every wear normal clothing. Every photo, every photo that weve seen of you is just. Im just imagining your wardrobe. No imagining your wardrobe. No i dont i go, i have, um , a dont i go, i have, um, a different outfit, all different occasions , as you can see. Occgsloiis, as you can see. Occasions, as you can see. Um , yeah. No, i was going um, yeah. No, i was going into the politics cause it has been reported in the mail that ticket sales have been slashed because i keep forgetting my lines. But thats not true. I just think theyre script is and i want to make my own art. Weve got a little naughty word, but i should point out that it was. It was katie price who said it. So youre totally fine. It wasnt you. Uh, and, uh, so youve wrapped the presents. Is that all . Nearly done . How does it work in the lewis household . Christmas day, all the presents are wrapped. To be very um, it used to be very different. When the kids were little, was magical. You little, it was so magical. You know, to. Obviously, they know, i used to. Obviously, they believed in father christmas. So the would by the bed. The sacks would be by the bed. Father christmas was still travelling. Hes nearly the travelling. Hes nearly in the uk , so were very excited about uk, so were very excited about that. My santa satnav , you know, my santa satnav, you know, you know, weve had tradition. You know, weve had tradition. We always read the books towards the night before christmas. We had traditions. We put had little traditions. We put all the cat, the carrots and the cookies out. But i dont get to do that anymore because the kids are older. So unfortunately we. How are they now . How old are they now . How old are they now . Daughters 21 my well, my daughters 21 and my sons teen, so okay, it sons seven teen, so okay, so it would stranger if you would be a bit stranger if you were still reading christmas stories that would be a you stories to that would be a you must had them young. Must have had them young. Playing thats me playing a compliment you. Uh, and what compliment to you. Uh, and what comedians are going comedians are you going to be watching . Yeah. And what watching . Well yeah. And what comedians are going to be watching over the festive period. Because i think for a lot of people, this is a time where they want together. Where they want to get together. Their have a laugh, where they want to get together. Their the have a laugh, where they want to get together. Their the classics. a laugh, watch the classics. Definitely. I mean, i oh, definitely. I mean, i love ive always loved abfab. I love ive always loved abfab. I love a bit of jennifer saunders. Ive heard of that. I think shes an absolute darling. Shes an absolute darling. Sweetie, darling, i love jennifer saunders, darling. Um, ill probably be watching all the reruns of only fools and horses and all those kind of things. Um i love comedians like Micky Flanagan and russell kane. You know, weve got some great comedians. So, um, i was only comedians. So, um, i was only watching last night. Um you know, the ten, nine out of ten cats, whatever its called. And theyre just. Everyones just so funny, arent they . And all the kids are brilliant. That they never asked me to do anyway. Lets move on do it anyway. Lets move on quickly. Know how dare quickly. Uh may i know how dare they. But you could probably. Youre like ten comedians and one. Theyd get good value for money. Any , uh, christmas money. Uh, any, uh, christmas disasters going to disasters were going to be talking that later on. But talking about that later on. But any christmas disasters the any christmas disasters over the years that particularly stand out um talking of oh, yes. Um talking of pantos, it was it was i was doing a panto in sunderland and when pantomimes had budgets, they used to fly us there and back , and i was being flown back back, and i was being flown back home. Christmas and our plane , home. Christmas and our plane, the weather was so bad we had to get off the plane and it was me. And i remember stuart miles, who did blue peter. I scared everybody on this plane. I was screaming, but they we ended up getting off the plane. We had nothing. Christmas nothing. We had no christmas dinner organised nothing. So our landlord, where we were renting our digs from, we ended up with his family over christmas. It was crazy. It was a disaster. But when i look back it was very funny. Funny. Thats it. So thats the life of actor, uh, life on the of an actor, uh, a life on the road and are you going to watch any of the Little Britain . I think theyre also coming back this year. Id be very interested to see theyve interested to see if theyve changed theyre interested to see if theyve chang to theyre interested to see if theyve changto sort theyre interested to see if theyve changto sort of theyre interested to see if theyve changto sort of make theyre interested to see if theyve changto sort of make it theyre going to sort of make it a little bit pc, or if little bit more pc, or if theyre going to really go for theyre going to really go for the go for it, i hope they go for it. I mean, i think everyones getting bit too now, i getting a bit too pc now, so i hope for it. And ive hope they go for it. And ive always been a massive fan of Little Britain, so yeah, i mean, its having time to watch tv at christmas, you know, when christmas, you know, uh, when im, when its Christmas Day, were all just having a laugh playing games. I dont really watch lot of anymore. Then watch a lot of tv anymore. Then im back on panto, so i dont think im going to get to watch a lot of films or tv. This year. To honest, i do love my old to be honest, i do love my old films. I always love watching grease. I love watching annie , i grease. I love watching annie, i love old films. Love all the old films. Do an impression of . 1e can do an impression of . Yeah. Yeah. Is that frustrated with me . Is that frustrating for your family, though . Do you do you just go all the way . Do you just talk all the way through each of the films and theyre just like, shut to the film. They are actually, yeah, i do. I do. I always commentate through the film, you know, im like, god, even though through the film, you know, im like, seen god, even though through the film, you know, im like, seen it god, even though through the film, you know, im like, seen it like, even though through the film, you know, im like, seen it like tenen though through the film, you know, im like, seen it like ten times, gh ive seen it like ten times, i still it. Not long now until the big day. And if you are in charge of preparing the christmas dinner, then you have come to the right place at this momentous time of yeah place at this momentous time of year. It is one thing you cant get wrong. But whether its overcooking the turkey or having burnt potatoes , chef andrew burnt potatoes, chef Andrew Hutton has got your back and he joins me now. Good evening andy. Joins me now. Good evening andy. How are we doing . Josh im doing very well. You got your chef whites on there. Have you been cooking today . Well theres this non stop prep, non stop prep, 18 people tomorrow for lunch. Wow. People tomorrow for lunch. Wow. Is that the problem with being a chefis is that the problem with being a chef is that people expect to come to yours . Come to yours . Well , its come to yours . Well, its all family. Well, its all family. Its all family. And thats what makes the Christmas Day, isnt it . Absolutely. That your absolutely. Now, is that your first for cooking christmas first tip for cooking Christmas Day is to do as much prep as you can. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, tonight weve ive got my potatoes cooked my carrots, my parsnips. Uh, the, the ham is glazed. The ham is glazed. Um, the turkeys got to go in the oven in the morning. So is the oven in the morning. So is the beef , um, the oven in the morning. So is the beef, um, you the oven in the morning. So is the beef , um, you know, the the beef, um, you know, the oysters have got to be shucked. Uh yeah. Uh, we go, we go, we go all out. Wow. I really kind of wish i was related to you. Now uh, so , uh. Related to you. Now uh, so, uh. All right, first of all, lets talk through the turkey, because this is the one thing that people seem to get most wrong. Either underdoing it overdoing it . What what is the rule . It . What what is the rule . The rule . I mean , uh, what the rule . I mean, uh, what i find is, is by by a turkey crown, which is just the white meat. Um, you can also buy you can buy the legs separately. Uh, but the crown, theres no waste. But the crown, theres no waste. Um, you know, wrap it in a little bit of bacon so it doesnt dry out on top. Um, doesnt dry out on top. Um, coverit doesnt dry out on top. Um, cover it to start with. And then when it gets, if youve got if youve got a kitchen probe, were not a professionals. Um, probe it when it gets to about 60 degrees. Uncover it and then put it into just cover it on top. Uh, thats thats all you need. You know . And the legs , need. You know . And the legs, um, i always cook them separately. Anyway um, for people that like the brown meat. Um, but thats thats the secret to it. I think. Now, is there anything more controversial than the best way to make a roast potato . To make a roast potato . Everybody has their special little techniques. What are little techniques. What are yours . Yours . Right. So my spuds are already cooked. Wow um. And dont dont be ashamed to overcook them and shake them in the pan. Um, so, you know, you the pan. Um, so, you know, you get them bits falling off of it. Um and then the, the idea get that fat, really hot. Whether its goose fat, duck fat , i use its goose fat, duck fat, i use lard. I mean lard or dripping. Lard. I mean lard or dripping. Um, get it really hot. Put them um, get it really hot. Put them in there, toss them around and then put them straight back in then put them straight back in the oven , you know, and just let the oven, you know, and just let just let the heat do the work. Just let the heat do the work. Okay. Um, halfway through, just toss them through an and youll get the crispy bits. You know, the people the things that people always love. So its all about the crisp, uh, for you and for most people, i love it a bit crispy, uh, salt and pepper as well. Some seasoning. Some people put garlic in all hard herbs in there. Throw your rosemary, your thyme, um, even a big bulb of garlic. Just cut it in half, put it in there as well. And just let, let let it do the work on its own. Uh, you dont have to do anything. Its Christmas Day is simple. And my personal top tip is you can never have enough. And you can never have enough. And youll eat them for the next few days , even if youre. Yeah days, even if youre. Yeah boxing day in this household is just as big as Christmas Day. Its leftovers. Its the its its leftovers. Its the its the ham. The gammon that i even make a turkey curry. I know its, uh. No, its , you know, its, uh. No, its, you know, the thing that people always go turkey curry leftover, but, you know, from scratch , you know, know, from scratch, you know, dont buy any sauces. Just just make the curry, you know, from all the spices and everything else. Its amazing this all the spices and everything else. Its amazing this time of year. Else. Its amazing this time of year. Its else. Its amazing this time of year. Its all family get together. Everyone help each other out in the kitchen at the glass of wine. Glass of wine. Oh, right. Okay. Do you have. Were you, uh, do you order them about or are you kind of like, uh, very sort of keep away. Uh, very sort of keep away. Listen, mate, i am left on my own. And the last is, ive been own. And the last is, ive been bed by six, 6 00. But this year ive been told off to drink in the mornings. Uh, in the morning because. Yeah. Okay, this isnt this isnt your style. Youre not going to go all the way through. Now. Thats true. Ive got eggs benedict going, you know, at in the you know, at 9 00 in the morning. Uh bucks fizz and everything else, you know, you know , my chefs are like, i, i, know, my chefs are like, i, i, you know what to get out of it. I agree to work tonight. So i agree to work tonight. So its so i do know what its like. One final question. Brussels. One final question. Brussels sprouts. Yayi or nay . Yay yay. Yay yay. Yay yay. I love sprouts. And they are i love sprouts. And they are we all throughout the year. Um, and with bacon and chestnuts. Um dont overcook them in boiling water. Crispy five minute water. Second refresh them and then just toss them with bacon. Just toss them with bacon. Right. You know, give them a go. Maybe not the bacon bit, but ill try the other stuff out. Thank you so much chef andy hutton. Thank you so much for joining us. See welcome back to mark dolan tonight with me. Josh howey. It is just over an hour until the big day, so what better time to celebrate by asking my panel if they have ever had any christmas disasters . Chris, any bad disasters . Chris, any bad memories for you . Or has it always been smooth sailing . No. Never. Never. Smooth. Smooth sailing. For me, its smooth sailing. For me, its always been alcohol problem. Always been an alcohol problem. Not personally , but i not not not personally, but i think one Christmas Eve had gone out, had got drunk and for some crazy, silly reason i invited everybody to the house on Christmas Day. I totally forgot Christmas Day. I totally forgot about it. And im living with my grandparents 4 00 in the grandparents about 4 00 in the afternoon. Like an abundance of people turns up with gifts people just turns up with gifts and and my grandma was and stuff and my grandma was like, these people . And like, who are these people . And the is, i didnt know the thing is, i didnt even know who they just random who they were. Just random people out and people who id met out and ianed people who id met out and invited back to invited them back to my grandmas, telling all, grandmas, telling them all, its party, its a Party Christmas party, and there christmas party. But i did have a party or not. No, no, no, you said i was gonna call it my grandma called the police. I thats cool, because its like jesus , he had loads of like jesus, he had loads of people turn but he didnt people turn up, but he didnt know either. Unfortunately, was and unfortunately, chris was unable water into unable to turn the water into the necessary wine. And bread the necessary wine. And bread wasnt old enough yet. He hadnt learned. Havent learned that skill. What about you . Skill. Whegod. Yut you . Skill. Whegod. So, iou . Skill. Whegod. So, um , uh, early oh, god. So, um, uh, early days, like , uh, were talking days, like, uh, were talking about, like, you know, immigrants, uh, assimilating and stuff. So. Attempt to stuff. So. And our attempt to assimilate in the early days, my mum get, like, a turkey , mum would get, like, a turkey, but put tandoori spices on but shed put tandoori spices on it, so. And it was just like. It, so. And it was just like. Its just more bland. Mum, what are just. Just bland food are you just. Just bland food like else. Um. And now like everybody else. Um. And now weve perfected it, like, so, you getting pop on, you know, like getting a pop on, but one of the other things youve a hybrid. No, youve got, like a hybrid. No, no, proper like, its like no, its proper like, its like we bay leaves inside we put the bay leaves inside and the that they, they the skin and so that they, they glisten its all crispy. Glisten when its all crispy. The turkey outside. But yeah, the turkey outside. But yeah, growing up we had curried growing up we had like curried brussels sprouts you know, brussels sprouts and you know, everything curried everything was curried basically. Was like oh , basically. And it was like oh, this is rubbish. This isnt christmas is rubbish. And we, we. Yeah. Anyway its really embarrassing. But we found a box of something we thought were Christmas Decorations thought were christmas decor sures thought were christmas decor sure how christmas worked. Quite sure how christmas worked. And then put like what we and then we put like what we thought were decorations because people think had things dangling and then hadnt realised that they were tampons. So any children watching this . Children watching this . Thats a type of christmas bauble. Yeah. Christmas decoration. Thats a good one. Decoration. Thats a good one. I hadnt decoration. Thats a good one. I hadnt even thought about that. What a wonderful. I mean, they are designed really. I mean, you can paint scheme. Yeah, theyre very useful. Um, brilliant. Uh , what about you, and, uh, what about you, yosef . Any hanukkah. So i. Yes, ive got a hanukkah disaster, and, uh, we like the menorah, obviously. And the obviously. And youve got the candles lighting. We managed to set fire. Wow. Set our curtains on fire. Wow. Um, and that could have been really neighbour came really bad, but a neighbour came and just at the and got involved just at the last minute. And i think sometimes when these disasters happen, thats when you the happen, thats when you have the most experiences. And most memorable experiences. And i we to door i remember we went to next door and we had the hanukkah night with it it was with them, and it was it was something really so these something really nice. So these are that memories are are the things that memories are made of actually, think made out of actually, i think when little bit when something goes a little bit wrong. Uh, ill tell wrong. Yeah well, uh, ill tell that to my tomorrow as the that to my son tomorrow as the switch that i bought him has not turned up. So ill say, look, look at what you said. Look what . Look what . I laugh about this. Hes gonna be funny. Im sure his little ten year old self will be totally fine. Yeah. Oh, so i had not had some gifts turn up, and i was like, oh, please turn up before i left. But they hadnt. No. So. So guilty. Can just bring up so guilty. Can i just bring up one £40 cheaper . One thing about £40 cheaper . Not worth the money it was not worth the money andifs it was not worth the money and its more cheaper when you it was not worth the money andinto more cheaper when you it was not worth the money andinto thee cheaper when you it was not worth the money andinto the afteraper when you it was not worth the money andinto the after christmas you it was not worth the money andinto the after christmas. Ou get into the after christmas. Anyway, can i just raise up one issue about mistletoe very, very, because weve very, very quickly because weve got Great Britain got to do some Great Britain like miss it. You it, like i miss it. You miss it, want back its. Yeah, want it back because its. Yeah, i it back. Why mistletoe i want it back. Why is mistletoe being right now theres one well, right now theres one above and chris. Right. Above you. You and chris. Right. Its time for our panels greatest. Britains and Union Jackasses. Chris is Great Britain nominee is kelly welsh. Britain nominee is kelly welsh. Rebecca welsh, rebecca welsh. Got to get the name right. Yeah. Brilliant. I think is yeah. Brilliant. I think he is there. I this is there. I think this is a phenomenal story. We need it right now a female hero and especially when im raising a ten old girl. Ten Year Old Girl. Very yes. And josephs very good. Yes. And josephs greatest is alex greatest britain nominee is alex batty. Man batty. Hes the young man who ran from france to return ran away from france to return to his legal guardian in in the uk for a better life. Okay and sevilla your greatest britain nominee is its warm with last christmas finally number one after 39 years. Its what he would have wanted. George michael , who also wanted. George michael, who also died tomorrow. Um, how many years now . 4 or 5 years ago now . Um, but yeah , 39 years later and um, but yeah, 39 years later and its one of my favourite songs of christmas. Oh, no. I mean, its the its the quintessential love. It . I love it and it isnt it . I love it and its great. And even my kids, even the little ones, the six year old, theyre all just singing along and where you and youre like, where did you even learn but it sort of even learn that . But it sort of just permeates. Yeah, the, the, the space not so much the space somehow not so much slayed yes slayed this year. Yes soledar seems to be dying out , but wham is the is the one, the big one. And just any other favourites of you guys go christmas . We dont really have hanukkah songs, do we . Well not so much having a gay or whatever. I think mariah carey, my little , loves that one. Little girl, loves that one. Yeah, i mean, thats her favourite, yeah. Favourite, isnt it . Yeah. And out that you and finding out that you cant stand. Cant her warbling. I cant stand her warbling. No oh. Jonah, lewis. No oh. Um. Jonah, jonah lewis. Um. I was at home for um. Uh, wish i was at home for christmas. Da ba da ba dum dum. That bit makes my heart. Please sing again. Right please never sing again. Right thats why you didnt get that. So now todays Great Britains, uh, winner is, of course. Wham yes uh, congratulations on finally making that number one spot. Now, chris is a Union Jackass. Nominee. IsJames Cleverly. Yeah. And its just unbecoming. So just entirely unbecoming. So youre incredible. And also, shes , oh, yeah, was not shes like, oh, yeah, i was not lying. But lied. Gina, who is lying. But i lied. Gina, who is yourjack lying. But i lied. Gina, who is your jack carson god . Bah humbug. Uh, the bah humbug.
