I think whats happened over time is words that were once taboo become not taboo. There are actually benefits to cursing. Research has shown when you are with a group of coworkers and start cursing together there is a feeling of solidarity. Its funny, right . Stress reduction. When you bang your elbow an bang your toe, what is the thing many of us do . The fbomb we curse, under our breath we mutter it. Research has shown that it actually provides a great stress reducer and we can tolerate more pain when we curse. Do you agree with that . Well, research does prove that. I think it is funny we are doing this story on tv where we cant use any of the words were talking about. Yeah, it is so commonplace to use foul language but when you hear yourself doing it, you get a little embarrassed. I also think that the other issue is it is much more common place in our vernacular to say hey, bitch, whats up . That you can say. Hold on. Can i say it . Hey, bitch you almost said ho. This is great. Im on nbc using the word bitch. I feel dirty. I need a bath. It feels weird that you we say it in playful ways all the time. Lets be it is a reflection on you. If you start using words like that when you are having conversations, people think a certain way about you. They do. It is a slippery slope. If you use that at work with friends, youre likely to slip up with your kids. Theres this perception that people who swear are lazy or uneducated. Thats not the case according to the research. But people perceive you in different ways. If you talk like that in front of your boss or the pta youre going to be perceived. Should we be mindful to clean it up . I think being mindful of our speech is something we should do any way. I think being mindful of use foul language around young kids is really important. We want them to come across as smart and together and intelligent. Im always afraid when i get scared on the air or something that ill do that. It will be fine. If you slip, keep moving. So we sent sara out to about two or three gyms here in new york city to test out the latest fitness trends. What did you find . There is no denying that all work and no play makes exercising dull but im happy to report can you get yourself in shape and have a blast doing it. Really. How similar is this place to p. E. Or recess . Well, it is different because the activities that you are doing are more intense. This is total body like hands on the floor. It is fun. You get a really good workout but again it takes the pressure off you and you can kind of just enjoy what you are doing. This definitely takes you back to Elementary School days. This seasons games is musical boats. It is play on musical chairs. So the emphasis is a great workout and the emphasis is on playing. It is a great workout and you are having fun. First thing i noticed are the strange contraptions. What is going on . This is a modernized version of the old wonder chair Joseph Pilates created in the 1940s but this kicks your butt a lot more and we added this overhead bungee system that sculpts your arms, so you are really engaging your core throughout entire workout. I was in the new York City Ballet and i danced my entire life. Now i own this studio with my mom who is a figure skater and we brought all of our disciplines together to create this fun, vibrant workout. This is focusing on strengthening and toning but because we move fast and we have quick transitions, your heart rates going to stay up there. Aqua sinking is sinking in the water. You work toward the Water Resistance and get a very good massage. Very similar to an Indoor Cycling class. You get a lot more benefits coming from the water. One of them being very little impacts on your bones so it is really good for a lot of people that have injuries. You burn up to 800 calories per hour. It is a very holistic experience and trying to incorporate all the different muscles in the workouts. You feel like you are getting a full body workout. Nice. What about that instructor . The biking one was surprisingly hard because your body never heats up. It is cooled down by the water. The recess class brought out the competitor in me.
