Designers of the halfpipe design it so they can catch a lot of air but designers are catching a lot of grief saying it is not up to olympic quality. Overnight organizers reworked the halfpipe after the design and some boarders blasted it as garbage and lame. I take it back. Including american shaun white geography his third gold medal later today. Hows the halfpipe . Its not best. I dont want to bag on it but its very disappointing. The riders say the bottom part of the pipe is bumpy and that creates trouble as they transition from high flying tricks on the 22 foot wall. Its just because its so sloppy in there. The snow quality is sloppy. Once they can firm it up, it will be better. Unlike complaints last week over the slopestyle course some riders labeled as dangerous, the concern at the halfpipe is quality. You want it to be a 10 for competition. I would say its like a solid 5 1 2, 6 right now. Riders say the Current Conditions dont hurt or benefit any particular snowboarder, just their ability to perform at their very best. Were all riding the same halfpipe. Its a shame its not perfect. Along with white and davis, taylor and gregg are in the same halfpipe and hopefully conditions will be colder. Matt. Thank you so much. She took bronze in the super combined, an electric start to her competition in sochi. Shes with us. Good morning to you. Congratulations. Hi. Thank you. Well, you really did it. You lived up to your reputation of coming up with a big win in a big moment. Do you kind of just thrive on the pressure . Does that help you perform at your best . I mean, it definitely is surprising for me yesterday. I want ed ed to have a really g race, putting myself in this position after the down hill to be able to ski a solid slalom run was something also questionable for me was really cool. Yeah. Amazing. The pressure i thrive off the atmosphere and the love for my hometown and my family. Its just been awesome. I want to ask you about that slalom. For the first part, this is a two element race. For the down hill, you crushed it, you blew away the competition. Then you are facing the slalom, not your event. I read you hadnt even completed a full slalom in practice in a year. Whats going through your mind at that point . I mean, it was a really tough hill up there. The snow conditions, it was getting warmer and i knew that i just had to make it to the finish and just keep fighting the whole way down. Thats basically what was going through my mind. I didnt know that so many skiers skied out but i knew for my run and to cross the finish line, just to be proud of my race, i needed to finish that run. Honestly i didnt think i would be that fast and thats why i was so excited when i crossed the finish line and saw there was a 3 next to my name and meant i was on the olympic podium again which means i get this medal. Its all the more wonderful because i know you dedicated this race to your grandfather who passed away a year ago. It sounds like he meant a lot to you in your skiing career. Yeah. Hes been an incredible inspiration for me and been a really big part of my family and one of the reasons why my parents got me so into skiing was because of my grandfather. After i won that first down hill it was just him in my ear saying how proud of me he was that i even finished that first round in first so i knew i had to go out and ski with my heart and do my best for him so thanks, grandpa. Ah. Did you do it, really. Your grandmother was there watching as well, i understand. Before i let you go, julia, what do you think about these warm temperatures up on the mountain. Are they helping you out . Its tough. I definitely like the snow a little softer. Its been good for me and theres definitely a fine line and hopefully it stays just cold enough to have good races. Julia mancuso, were so proud of you, too, congratulations and we look forward to your races coming up. Thank you so much. Thank you. Shes cool. I like her. Amazing. Jenna bush hager is with us now. What is the conversation thats going on online right now . Natalie touched on this amazingly heartwarming story earlier. You guys may remember it from the vancouver olympics when canadian skier Alex Bilodeau dedicated his gold medal to his brother, frederick with Cerebral Palsy and we saw it again monday when alex won gold in the moguls. After winning he rushed to embrace frederick and called frederick his greatest inspiration. The touching moment has everybody talking online. Andrew tweeted the love between Alex Bilodeau and his brother is the most beautiful thing ive seen this olympics. Nothing brings you more to tears than Alex Bilodeau and his brother. Thats what family is all about. Brothers by blood and best friends by choice. This got us thinking for your greatest inspiration, let us know using the sochi today and well hear more from alex, matt, i think you will talk with him later on. Thats right. It is an amazing story. And the hug. What is your greatest inspiration . We have to think about that. Let us know. Pop quiz from jenna this morning. Thats a big question. Answer it. Jenna, thank you.
