Lost and friend, the bridal party, family members getting the call they awaited for. There she is. Baby where are you . The happy homecoming today, thursday, september 18, 2014. From nbc news, this is today. With matt lauer and Savannah Guthrie live from Rockefeller Plaza. Im matt lauer, and savannah continues on maternity leave. Nice moment for the bridal party. Captured that live, cant believe we had that moment, amazing. Fell out of communication after the her cane in mexico, and, by the way, the remnants of that storm is causing problems in the southwest. It really is. This is a long lasting system. In fact, take a look at the flooding falling in the southwest. This was el paso, etexas, heavy downpours, flash flood warnings overnight, high water rescues, parts of i10 shut down, and it continues today as we show you the latest, the rem napts of odile stretching from dallas to south of austin caught up in the stationary front. We are watching the activity, and its going to keep falling, the rain will continue and continue. Were looking at during the day today that remnant low, whats left of odile, moves slowly east. As it does, heavy thunderstorms train over the area. We have flood watches and warnings on into west texas far east as austin. Flood watches as far east as houston as well. Rainfall amounts, though they dont look heavy, but an inch and a half to two and a half inches per hour in the southwest and up to 3 to 5 inches per hour in southeastern texas. Thats where we look at the big flood threat. Theres a lot of rain that fell overnight in arizona, and thats where we find dylan dreier by one of the washes, and that looks fierce behind you. Reporter good morning, al, these washes are designed to take water that rushes down the mountains and steer them in the right direction. Opposed to this traveling along the roadways and in areas where we could see more flash flooding. A lot of the water is actually originating from mexico, the Higher Elevations out there that, which, as you know, was hit hard by the hurricane. Combine that with two and a half inches of rain the area picked up yesterday yesterday alone, the fact that its seen five inches of rain in the last 48 hours. That raises the flooding issue in the entire area. However, residents were on top of things sandbagging early and well prepared this time around because it was just ten days ago that the remnants of hurricane norberg caused so many issues in the same area. Now the threat is pushing into new mexico and panhandle of texas so thats the next area well watch. Al . All right, thank you so much. Again, this will continue right on into the weekend as that system gets caught up along the front and mean more rain and more flooding for the midsection of the country into the southwest, guys. Were going to see the effects of odile into the weekend. Amazing how long it lasted. Al, thank you so much. A chilling terror plot foiled in australia overnight. Supporter of isis were going to randomly grab people in sidney and publicly execute them. We have more on the story. Jim, good morning. Reporter good morning, hoda. Australian Officials Say Counterterrorism Police intercepted a phone call two days ago in sydney between amar, 22, and another, 33, believed to be a high ranking isis operative in the middle east running a unit in australia. According to the police, the ore was to show isiss reach by carrying out and videotaping a public beheading of someone, as you say, picked randomly in the streets of sidney. One still at large with an arrest warrant out for him. Police say the plot had been in the works since may, and it was just last week that the Prime Minister raised the terrorist alert in australia from medium to high. This is just the kind of nightmare scenario, hoda, the u. S. And allies fear. In this case, dozens of isis veterans return from the fight to commit terrorism at home. This one, it appears, was caught in time. Thank you so much for that report. In the meantime, the nfl deals with another Domestic Abuse case this morning. A member of the arizona cardi l cardinals now deactivated after being arrested. This as corporate pressure is on the league and its commissioner, roger goodell, mounts. Peter alexander has the latest. Good morning. Good morning to you. As nfl kicks off another game tonight trying to put the crisis behind them, one more arrest offering a new face of the leagues Domestic Violence scand scandal. The Arizona Cardinals dwyer charged with aggravated assault after two fights in july. The alleged victims . His 18 month old son and childs mother. After he was physically assaulted, he took a shoe and threw it at their 18 month old child. The woman denied he was home, but he was hiding in the bathroom and threatened to harm himself. The suspects threat of commits suicide occurred in an attempt to keep her from calling the police. She had fractured bones, and another fight, he threw her phone out the window before leaving arizona contacting authorities last week. He denies allegations, but the cardinals wasted no times with this statement pulling him from all team activity. Wednesday, the Carolina Panthers announced the probowler, hardy, the only player under scrutiny actually convicted in a domestic case is taking a paid leave week, 772,000 a week. Our goal is to do the right thing. Across the league, officials tried to do the right thing, but the right thing changes by the day. Monday, the vikings brought back peterson fighting a charge of using his stick to discipline his 4yearold son. Wednesday, they shipped him out. We strive as an organization to do the right thing. Reporter and not making a public appearance in more than a week, the nfl commissioner, roger goodell, considered the most powerful man in supports 18 months ago. Hes made himself the face of the n phenomena, and hes now invisible. Thats the problem now with this going on. Hes just not there. Reporter the league said dwyers case will be reviewedunderpar the personnel conduct policy which could be a six game suspension. This weekend, the teammate face off against the 49ers, and ray mcdonald arrested for abuse as well. Matt . Thank you, matt lupica, good to see you. Facing witherring criticism for the handling of the situation, most powerful commissioner in prosports r and he did not knock anyone out. He did not discipline anyone with a switch. How much responsibility does he bear . He bears tremendous responsibility because now metaphorically its like hes been hit. Hes been hit and the credibility of the league is hit. He set himself up as the law. He set himself up as the new sheriff this town for the National Football league, but then ae allows prosecutors in Atlantic City to take the lead on the ray rice thing, and i laugh when people stand behind due process. They are not a court. They are not a legal system. They are a great big fat company. The league says itments to do the right thing, the owners want to do the right thing. Occurs to me they make a decision, stand back and wait for reaction, and when its outraged, they make the opposite decision. Theres not a moral compass in that. Not only not a moral compass, but they make up the rules on cocktail napkin, and when they dont like the reaction, they change them again. Rice is suspended for two games, incredibly boneheaded wrong side of history decision. Then the video. The circumstances of the case have not changed. Now theres indefinite suspension. Peterson reinstated and now put on indefinite suspension. Over the weekend in minnesota, a huge legal day, di covered due process, undiscovered it, and now a friend of mine, hill, said yesterday, if doing the right things was a drinking game, they would have been pieeyed by the end of the conference because they said 20 times yesterday, why not do the right thing on monday when they reactivated him. Great for your perspective. An amazing situation. Later in the show, answering questions about the nfl scandals, but right now, heres hoda. According to a police aft, he was a member of the rifle club, and he told police he trained and quote, doesnt miss. The area where he may be hiding . Big state forest that he knows well. Very rural, bunches of places he could be if hes hiding. A man walking his dog tipped police off to the car finding camouflage face paint, military gear, and spent rifle casings matching the ones found at the crime scene. Im convinced hes engaged in a personal battle with Law Enforcement, particularly, the Pennsylvania State police. Will likely stay focused on that fight. Reporter state troopers say the search area is expanding crossing over borders asking people to lock their doors and stay vigilant. Reporter natalie, good morning. Whats your reaction to john kerrys recent statement it was not appropriate to include iran in the u. S. Led coalition against isis . Translator they have formed various coalitions in the region, and what have they achieved . This coalition is somehow ridiculous, and there are people who have created these terrorist groups are now inside this coalition. They are countries who are financing these terrorist groups. They have been financing the terrorist groups, and in this coalition, this are people who are supporting them politically, and they are equipping them with weapons. Reporter the president made it clear iran would spare no effort to help the iraqi government, not ruling out boots on the ground. Translator i said that cities who are hosting our holy shrines, religious, you know, cities in iraq for all the muslims across the world and even in baghdad, this is our red line if they are under danger. I see, so there is a red line . If those religious sites are in danger, iran is prepared to defend them . Translator we use our capability. Reporter what else could be necessary . Translator what is necessary is very clear, but we say the red line remains a red line. Reporter good morning, this is the area where police now believe Hannah Graham was last seen late last night. They started looking for the man that they believe was likely seen talking to her just moments before she texted her friend she was lost and the second the cell phone went silent. Overnight they released under surveillance showing this man following Hannah Graham in a downtown pedestrian mall. Two minutes later graham is seen walking with the same man following her. Shortly after it was released, police say the man in the video showed up at the Police Department and admitted following hannah because she appeared distressed, physically intoxicated adding he wanted to make sure he was okay. The man said he never talked about her and stopped fol her after he saw another man approach and put his arm around her. He told police it seems the other man either knew hannah or were trying to help. They are now looking for that man. Meanwhile, other under surveillance images show her from earlier that evening outside a monita irish pub where she is seen walking by herself but never goes pence the bar. Ten minutes later the second year uva student can be seen running then walking in front of this charlottes villegas station. Police say no one seems to be chasing her. A frustrating police chief wednesday begged for answers. Id be very disturbed that someone in this downtown mall did not see that young lead. Pick up the phone and tell us something. Students painted this plea for their classmates safe return. Meanwhile, grahams parents issued another Statement Wednesday saying it is totally out of character for us not to have heard from her, and we fare foul play. I had a chance yesterday to speak with the parents of a 20yearold woman abducted and killed in this same area in 2009. They told me they feel a special kinship to heather grahams parents. At this time the police insist the cases themselves are not connected. Nonetheless they have looked at the area, that rural area where the first womans remains were found. They are also asking people who live in this area, especially if they own large tracts of land to inspect their property as well, matt. Craig melvin. Thank you very much. We take it up another notch telling our boy to sit alone on a packed bench. The minutes pass with no guardian in sight and no one says anything. Did you notice this child right over here sitting next to you without a parent for several minutes. I did think about why he was sitting there by himself. You never said anything to him. If there was something bad happening i would have stepped in to help the kid out. I would like to think i would notice a child sitting by himself, but i didnt. It makes me really think about it for next time. A lot of people told us they saw our boy was alone but didnt want to get involved because they didnt want to be accused of creepiness. Sometimes just asking are you alone, wheres your mom or dad . E he looked like my older sons age and he walks home or can walk home all the time. If he looked more distressed like scared or lost. Experts say at that age, kids wont always do that. Kids would be screaming. They want to seem like they are in control and figure it out for themselves. Especially now that i live with a higher risk of stroke due to afib, a type of irregular heartbeat, not caused by a heart valve problem. I was taking warfarin, but wondered if i kept digging, could i come up with something better. My doctor told me about eliquis. For three Important Reasons. One, in a clinical trial, eliquis was proven to reduce the risk of stroke better than warfarin. Two, eliquis had less major bleeding than warfarin. And three, unlike warfarin, theres no routine blood testing. Dont stop taking eliquis unless your doctor tells you to, as stopping increases your risk of having a stroke. Eliquis can cause serious and in rare cases fatal bleeding. Dont take eliquis if you have an artificial heart valve or abnormal bleeding. While taking eliquis, you may bruise more easily and it may take longer than usual for any bleeding to stop. Seek immediate medical care for sudden signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. Eliquis may increase your bleeding risk if you take certain medicines. Tell your doctor about all planned medical or dental procedures. Those three Important Reasons are why eliquis is a better find for me. Ask your doctor today if eliquis is right for you. Way, way back to the very first cell phone. We are going back. So glad youre with us for thirsty thursday, september 18th. Youre looking fetching for a woman who has been up since the dawn of time. You look great, hoda. Stop it. Hows it going . Its nice to be here where there are beverages and light dancing. I know. A light dancer, yes. Breaking news, according to one publication that may or may not be correct. Yes. And here it is. Harry, prince harry and cressida may be back together. I know. We thought the same thing. He was pining for her and so it was his 30th birthday, and, you know, a lot of people i guess they start rethinking their life at that milestone. They were seen at a movie. Nothing more romantic than that. The sun is a publication, reporting keep in mind, credit or not they said they rekindled their love. Remember that happened to will and kate. They broke up for a while. Yes, they did. They broke up for a while and theyre expecting their second child now. I like those two, harry and cressida. She seems like she doesnt care. She wears scrunchies, she looks a little she dont care. She doesnt care. Which is, you know i would look for that if i was a i do too. Lets hope that is happening. Okay. This is interesting. Now, we showed you yesterday, was it . Yeah, earlier hour yesterday they were showing the ellen show. No, married at first sight. Oh that. You remember we showed you the couple that had not met until their wedding day. She walked down the aisle, practically in tears when she saw him, totally not she looks good, though. We showed you now theyre in love. She declared it for the very first time on television to her which was my first red flag, not my first, about my fourth flag. Anyway so i we never got to the other couples. Hoda got is crying. Which you said i could just be tired, which could be the case. They are happy. I dont know what is reality and what is made up. There are two other couples that did the same thing, walked down the aisle and saw her husband as she was walking down. Courtney and jason, those two are together and after the six month mark, they seem to be happy. Okay. And the last couple, monet and vaughn. They had incredible chemistry right away. They said they consummated their marriage on their wedding night. And they were apparently it was really hot and heavy for months and then suddenly, it wasnt. Listen. Was it always compatible or did it get to a point where one of you was, like, i dont want you to touch me . Yeah. What happened . We stopped having sex or i stopped having sex with him and yeah. I feel extremely frustrated to be around somebody who i know didnt trust me from the jump, but wanted to act super bubbly and out there on camera, but then give me the Cold Shoulder off camera. It would have been nice if my wife, my peace, who i look to as im struggling through this process. No, i was your target. No, you added to your no, you liked to play the victim. I dont like to play the victim. You do. You didnt do this, you didnt do that. Youre a cold person. It is my fault you cant manage your emotions. Youre cold. I wonder if this is cynical. Say it. I wonder if the longer you stay on the show, the more money you make. You wonder if thats whats happening. Sometimes money can be a motivator. Im not saying in any case. But we should consider all these things. That was ugly. That was ugly. I keep my ugliness at home where nobody can see it but the dogs. Can you imagine if our dogs could talk . Oh, my gosh. All three of them in with us last night because cas was home from a very long, very arduous film shoot and those dogs like to bark and stuff. It was i was like this all night long so she could get rest. Every time they barked oh, and david wild, plays keyboards for us, was our houseguest and he had to leave really, really early. Im like im not going to live like that. I hope she got a good nights sleep. She did, i bet you. If you were up late and saw this on fallon, so many great moments. They do this thing called the lipsynch off between gwen stefani, Blake Shelton and jimmy fallon. This is for you, hoda. Okay. Perfect fit putting on the ritz dressed up like a Million Dollar trooper trying hard to look like gary cooper putting on the ritz that was the best song. How about that tapping . Not too much different from the texas twostep. Maybe a Little Oklahoma dancing. Hes adorable. He was here a couple of weeks ago during your birthday, remember that, and people heard him in the the break room . No, where was he, in the dressing room downstairs in the concourse and he was singing endless love. Practicing. Nobody knew why and then they did a song. He did a song with gwen stefani. He was doing the song. Ellen is having some fun. She has a game, a new game she started just this year called this minus that. Usually it is this plus that, they merged two things together, theyre mixing it up this year, this minus that. This is what would be imagined if kathie lee and hoda minus me. Lets take a look. Im nothing without you. My dentist used to say to me, you know what somethings worth. And i said what . He said whatever youre willing to pay for it. See what youre worth in the marketplace and youll find out. Huh . I love that. We took it to the next level and here is hoda minus me. Take a look. Right. And then shake it. I dont even remember what we are were talking about, do you . That was genius. Thats that was genius. Somebody said one of the funniest things you can do is just mute us and just, you know, watch the closed captions. By the way, i think it was buzzfeed put up our show with closed captioning, you couldnt see there was so much babbling. So sad. Anyway, this is fun. Cheerios debuted a new commercial honoring shift workers. Lets take a look. I know. The third shift is rough. It is just a few more weeks. Max, what are you doing up . Its late. I just wanted to have breakfast with you. Oh, my god. Oh, my god. That, i love. Okay. So sweet. The writer of the commercial drew upon his own experience, growing up with a working parent wanted to show breakfast can be anytime. Thats really sweet. Beautiful. Lets make it do we have to ruin it with your play list . Were going it ruin the mood. Im going to educate you about the music. Okay. You know the song anaconda by nicki minaj . Yeah, one of my favorites. Some people thought she wrote the whole thing, but there is actually a track in it by a guy who i love called sir mix a lot. And he has he has a song called i like big butts. And i cannot lie, that one . This is the original song. Okay, go ahead. Work out takes my fonda fonda aint got a motor my anaconda dont want none unless you got buns hon please dont lose that butt they toss it and leave it im quick to retrieve it i aint down with that to the bean pole in the magazines you aint it miss thing i cant resist her every word is so distressing to me. Thatse ed thats sad. Thats sad. Is it almost over . When the butt is round okay. So that isnt that awesome, though . No. Not awesome. Audra mcdonald singing somewhere from west side story, or Something Like that, i save the word awesome for something awesome, hoda, okay. So anyway nicki minajs song, that came from that. Remember whenever i go to a broadway show, i go, that song, thats from that . Now you can say it. Thats from that. That is from that . Hoda, there is a difference when the song is some enchanted evening from south pacific, or your favorite, your Favorite Song you thought of all time what . Send in the clowns. And were at a little night music on broadway, and Bernadette Peters is singing her heart out and you said, thats from this . I didnt know. Now i returned the favor. Now, anyway, sirius radio, were on sirius radio, sirius xm. Thats the other thing that scares me. Channel 108. Were on channel 108 with none of the visual stuff. No sense. No sense at all. Were sorry. Is it okay or not okay to stretch out birthday celebrat n celebrations . Lets see what we had to say. It is not okay, hoda. You almost killed me. It is okay, but only if it is a milestone birthday, like 50, or are 50. Maybe 50. Arent you 51 by now . Im over it too. We did kill that one a little bit. Mirror mirror on the wall, will these two lucky women like that they see when they check out their brandnew makeovers. It is awkward when they dont. If youve been looking for a way to give back to your community or the world, have we got something for you . It is called inspired by women and it is a special project that is part of an ad campaign that has actress and filmmaker Bryce Dallas Howard teaming up with beauty brand moroccan oil, which we love. Uhhuh. To highlight some exceptional winnerers. On the heels of wrapping her latest movie jurassic world, bryce found time to direct five inspirational short films about extraordinary women. Take a look. Im always curious and im always suggesting a new way of doing things. I simply hate complacency. Create the future you want. So much of making a difference is just understanding that you are enough. You have everything you need to take the first step. You meets they remarkable women and realize it really is true. One person can make a difference in the world. It is almost like were building an army, were starting a movement. Bryce is here with rebecca welsh, who is a Nonprofit Organization halo is featured in one of the films. Welcome, ladies. Thank you. Beautiful project. Yes. And youre going to give your dad a run for his money. Hell be nervous. Not at all. I think hell always be ahead. But this is incredible. It is a wonderful series, like you said called inspired. And it really is about it shows what it takes to live an inspired life. And we profile these five extraordinary women who are doing just that, theyre making changes around the world and, you know, like rebecca your tshirt says i believe in you. Something tells me thats your motto. It is. It is a movement we started for sometimes all they need is that belief and belief in them, we want people to wear these shirts so that they can kind of spread that word. Films are so beautiful. Theyre short films. Theyre beautiful. For you, rebecca, what drew you to the cause . About ten years ago, i went to honduras and met a little girl named daisy. She was 6 years old and had warts from her knees to her toes and her hair was falling out. We work with homeless and at risk foster youth. Thats awesome. It is hard to find the five women, there are many, many women out there doing incredible things. To narrow it down. It is humbling. When we were first reaching out to individuals to be part of this, i just felt like such a slub, getting to spend time with all of them, and, you know, having an opportunity to tell their stories is it truly has been life changing for me. Youre directing this while you were doing jurassic world. How did we manage to do all that . Well, it was it was a very organized project from the beginning. And i worked with a Wonderful Company called radical media. And i truly could not have done this without them at all. And i mean, it was a bit of multitasking, for sure, we were shooting the films on the weekends, and on your days off. Right. And then right after we wrapped i went and shot quite a few of them as well. I mean, Something Like this is not it is obviously not work. This is an opportunity to grow and to learn from others. And i mean i would finish the weekend of shooting and just feel, i dont know, feel so much energy monday morning because it is just, you know, it was like a wakeup call. And last time you were here with us, you had youre expecting your third child . Yes, i am. Congratulations. How are the kids . Theyre awesome. Theyre great. Being with them also during this process of just thinking about, Inspiring Women and what inspires all of us, and seeing my kids, obviously theyre such an inspiration, but i think it is because and also what i recognized from the five women they dont wait for inspiration to do, to play, to be active, to follow their wants and their dreams. Thats what these women have done. Terrific. Congratulations. Congratulations. Thank you. When will the movie be out . Jurassic world . Next june. Great. Great to see you both. In march, 2003, i was diagnosed with parkinsons disease. I was in my second decade of teaching speech and english at Reynoldsburg High School in central ohio. Our beautiful daughter was in college. Like most parents, we had made our child our priority. And bubbled with pride at her accomplishments and milestones. Bill knew my independence was very important to me, so he supported my decision to continue working until symptoms forced me to leave the job and students i loved. Again, bill supported me fully and then rallied around my efforts to begin tackling my life list. I know he worries about my balance issues and increased tremors, when im too fatigued. He knows our adventures together fuel my soul and keep me feeling vital. We can laugh together that when i have increasing tremors, it is not really shaking. Im just grooving to the music. He knows that parkinsons in no way defines me. Nor can it deter us from continuing our love story for years to come. I may awaken each day grooving to the music, but i also awaken with a gratefulness that Bill Anderson loves me unconditionally and will do so until my last breath. Wow. My word. It is a great day today, seeing two couples like this, who have been through so many years together. Devoted to one another. And ja janie and bill are with us. We picked that song we had to call the song grooving to the music. We fell in love with you when i read your letter. Tell us about this man you want to honor so much today. Oh, my gosh. There is not enough time. We need more segments, but this man is the most decent, honest, kind, caring, supportive and gorgeous man ive ever known. Ever. How are you feeling, by the way . How is the parkinsons . Im feeling better than when i had to get up at 4 30 in the morning and do the 12hour days because you had to get up early just so the medicine would kick in so i could drive, a 45minute drive and my kids were waiting outside the door to get in to have breakfast before class at 6 45. But i have a wonderful neurologist at the cleveland clinic. I just oh, my. Just amazing. And i think they worked on what they call the parkinson cocktail of the right medicine blend through the years. And im telling you, as long as i get some get enough rest, im ready to party. It is fun with her. I bet it is. Sometimes it is harder to be the one next to the person, the one who loves the person who is going through something than it is to actually go through it. You want to take it on yourself. I know she keeps you positive. We can tell just now. Yeah, yeah. Thats how shes been her as long as ive known her. Always had this positive attitude and she doesnt let anything get her down. Shes just a go getter and if something will start to get her down, she fights that much harder. And did you know she had written the letter to us . Or was it a surprise to you . It was a huge surprise. Youre a humble guy. I about had a heart attack. I couldnt believe it at first.
