Well have more on that later, but lets get right to the top story on a friday morning. The latest on this ebola crisis. Nina pham arrived at National Institutes of Health Facility in maryland overnight. Her infected coworker may have shown symptoms earlier than originally believed. So the cdc is now adding hundreds of names to its list of people potentially exposed to her. And as we mentioned, a coworker who handled the specimen from an ebola patient and is being monitored for signs of infection is actually on a cruise ship right now. Officials are now working to pick up that woman at sea and bring her home. Nbc correspondent kate snow is in dallas, good morning to you. Reporter good morning, matt, the Ripple Effect from the very first patient from flew from liberia to dallas now extended to two airline flights, and this morning, fears on a cruise ship on edge because of a passenger, this as both have been transferred to other facilities. Nurse nina pham seen arriving in maryland overnight getting helped into a waiting ambulance. The final leg of her journey to the National Institutes of Health Facility for treatment. Just before she left, a first look inside an Isolation Unit at Texas Health Presbyterian dallas, the hospital releasing this video of pham talking with her medical team. Pham wiping away tears. Her colleagues chanted and held signs as phams ambulance left the dallas hospital. The presbeproud and support the skrugs. Signs of support too for amber vinson whose travel as the cdc scrambling to identify more passengers who may have come in contact with her. On thursday, a centers for Disease Control doctor said they kbaent sure when she first showed symptoms and it may have been earlier than they thought. More information thats come through just recently would say that we cant rule out the fact that she might have had the start of her illness on friday. Reporter thats one week ago, the day she flew from dallas to cleveland from Frontier Airlines to plan her wedding with family. Authorities are trying to find everyone on that flight in addition to tracking down passengers on her flight from cleveland, back to dallas on monday. When vinson told the cdc she was running a fever. Anyone who shomed that the bridal store where vinson spent time last saturday is also being asked to call a special hotline. Dr. Braden says its been difficult to get a clear timeline from vinson herself because shes sick. Overnight, news about a Lab Supervisor at the hospital who the u. S. State Department Says may have had contact with clinical specimen from Thomas Eric Duncan and is now on a Carnival Cruise ship. She is not sick. Shes at very low risk for ebola, just to be safe, she remains isolated in a cabin. An official from the dallas hospital testified remotely at a hearing on capitol hill. Apologizing for mistakes and vowing to find out how the two nurses became infected. We know that they are both extremely skilled nurses, and were using full protective measures under the cdc protocols. So we dont yet know how or when they were infected. But its clear there was an exposure somewhere, some time. Reporter at the same hearing, the director of the cdc telling lawmakers that disspite missteps, hes confident that the American Public is safe. Theres zero doubt in my mind that barring a mutation, which changes it, which we dont think is likely, they will not be a large outbreak in the u. S. Reporter Health Care Workers who came into contact with duncan today are being asked to sign an agreement that they will not get on a plane, that they wont be in public areas here in dallas. Ebola symptoms, remember normally manifest within 21 days. Important to note that the woman has been symptomfree for 19 days already and the family and friends of duncan, theyll be up with their 21 day window this sunday. So thats some good news from here. Matt, natalie, back to you. That is encouraging news, kate snow in dallas this morning, kate, thank you very much. Of course all of the talk of ebola has a lot of people on edge, fears that are in most cases unfounded. Nbcs Peter Alexander has that part of the story, peter, good morning. Reporter natalie, good morning, this is the clinical center, this is where nina pham is being treated this morning. Medical experts here and kreesz the country say it is extremely difficult for ebola to be passed from one person to another, but that hasnt stopped our fear of ebola from spreading. Its a nationwide outbreak, ebola fear infecting much of america, but when does caution become hysteria . The ohio bridal shop that amber vinson now closed. A nearby Elementary School shut down simply because a students mom spent time with vinson. Even though vinson had no contact with the womans daughter. And near san diego, just word that a students sister was hospitalized with flulike symptoms was enough for officials to evacuate and briefly cordon off a college building. What if we run out of bags, two days ago. Reporter they are fueled by images fueled for the movies, not real life. Twitter users had their own diagnosis for the man without a clipboard, the only one who escorted vinson aboard her medical flight. He may want to the strap on a hazmat suit. Phoenix air said suits can block your field of vision and hearing which is why its part of their protocol to have one specially trained person not in a suit keeping his distance. A passenger donning this homemade hazmat suit at the washington airport. A virginia psychologist says his patients have expressed fears about the virus. Im finding that children and teens are walking in and talking about ebola and saying, im wondering why is ebola on your mind. And after speaking to these kids, right away they tell me, i just saw it on the tv. Reporter comedians have mocked the media coverage. And the inevitability of all of using it now, run. Reporter we have anxiety. There is a lot of doomsday processing going on about ebola, and thats caused a lot of people to be confused with, with nowhere really to turn. Reporter the experts say there is some good that comes out of these fears right now, if it leaves american to focus on the things that we can control like washing our hands and covering when we cough. All of it could make a big difference as we head into flu. Season. Definitely, thanks so much. In the meantime, Texas Health Presbyterian hospital is exponding to responding to our interview with a nurse that are says they werent ready for ebola patients. The hospital remains safe. Good morning, today exclusive on thursday, this nurse described the hospital that she says was woefully unprepared to deal with ebola. They should have known that it was getting out of hand, but they should have called in more help. Even to make a public plea and say, help us. You know, help us get the supplies we need. Help us to get the nurses the education and training, were not handling it well. And i watched some basic prince. S of nurse and care. Late thursday night, the hospital responded issuing a statement addressing her concerns, and how she expressed them. Saying in part, it is incorrect and disturbing to many of our staff to hear media exaggerations about their commitment to the organization they love. The hospital also addressed specific claims made by her concerning the lack of proper protective gear, the hospital provided during Thomas Eric Duncans care. Is it true that some of the nurses were wrapping tape around their throats trying to cover that space that was left exposed . Well, when i, when i started expressing that concern, the infeshs disease nurse at that time said we know, we know that thats an issue, and our, our stance on that is that we are taking tape and we are taking, at that time it was four or five pieces of one inch tape, and we are closing that gap. The hospital acknowledged Staff Members concerns over the suits, but says they followed cdc guidelines and standards. We have conducted interviews with well over 100 care givers involved in mr. Duncans care. Some multiple times. The consistent and universal theme we have heard is that all care givers reported being consistently compliant with utilizing the appropriate ppe in accord dance with the guidances from the cdc. They changed frequently, and those changes were frustrating to them and to management. They added it was the cdc who recommended how to close the exposed gap in the suits. Two onsite cdc members approved and recommended that they pinch and tape the necks of the gowns. Because they continued to be concerned, particularly about removing the tape, we ordered medical shrouds. The statement points out that the hospital has two different ways they can raise issues about safety concerns, but says, no one did that, adding third parties who dont know our hospital, our employees, and who were not present when the events occurred are seeking to exploit a National Crisis by inserting themselves into an already challenging situation. So clearly a lot of back and forth there now. But the bottom line is hopefully theyre getting the oversight they need now if they were to have to deal with another ebola patient. Yeah, you would hope so, defini definitely. And this sunday, chuck todd convenes a summit on the ebola crisis. Check your local listings for that. Now the twin monster storms that are now churning off both the east and west coast. We have both covered beginning in bermuda, hurricane gonzalo is bearing down, good morning to you dylan. Reporter good morning, natalie. You know, hurricane gonzalo is going to pass about 20 to 50 miles just to the west of where im standing right now, as a category three hurricane. We are such a tiebny little tiny little speck out here in the atlantic, but this island had natural defenses. Theres a reef than surrounds the island that will prevent against a massive storm surge we so often see out of these hurricanes, and in addition to that, the elevation of bermuda is fairly high. While we will see coastal flooding, were not going to see the effects of major flooding further inland. Now residents are cautiously optimistic, they are buildings are made for these hurricanes. Theyre built out of solid cement to so they can handle those winds, and we are though keeping an eye on the fact that the causeway out to the airport, was destroyed during hurricane saban, sergeant three storm that hit in 2003. Well see how the replacement bridge holds up. That is our lifeline to the airport. Hurricane winds are expected later on this afternoon. The height of the storm should hit between 5 00 and 8 00, well see how this tiny island holds up. So thats the latest near bermuda, natalie. All right. Dylan driver in bermuda, thanks. Meantime evacuation shelters are being opened in hawaii today. Residents brace for ana. Halle jackson is in kona, good morning to you. Reporter good morning, matt, right now this is the calm before the storm. The states Emergency Operation center is set to open in just a few hours because even though Tropical Storm ana is tracking further h than expected, hawaii will still feel an impact were talk about progress longed rain, potential for flash flooding, mud slides, and definitely some very high and dangerous surf. Schools here on the big island are closed for the day and folks all over are getting ready. One local store ran out of bottled water, people are filling up tanks in case of extended power outages. Thats what they saw during Tropical Storm iselle. Unusual to have two name storms in such a short period of time. Theyre hoping for the best, but getting ready for the worst, matt. Halle jackson on the big island of hawaii in kona, thank you very much. Meanwhile tracking both ana and gonzalo, its time. Gonzalo, this is the one were really, really concerned about. It is a according to 4 storm, right now pushing its way toward bermuda. Currently 250 mimes south, southwest, 130 mile per hour winds, its moving north, northeast at 15 miles per hour. And look at these water temperatures. 80 and 90 degree water temperatures. There is some drier air off to the west. We expect tonight into tomorrow, its still going to go by the island as a category three storm, and there is some concern that it is going to go right over bermuda, and then continue on out as a category two storm, but this is going to be a major, major catastrophe for bermuda. Then we go out into the pacific Tropical Storm ana, 340 miles south, southeast of hilo. 60 mile per hour winds, 80s and 90s, water temperature, it looks like its going to stay to the south, and yesterday we thought it might make a hook towards honolulu. Looks like itll stay south and west of the islands, so thats better news for those folks, much better news than in fact what were watching for gonzalo. This is going to be a very, very catastrophic storm were really worried about loss of life in this one. Thank you very much.
