Listen, i think what the republican majority needs first is to grow jobs in the country, prosperity, and what they need to do is tax reform and National Energy policy, and the president has to get that done with republicans in congress, and it should be able to get done. Talk about your travel over the last several months on behalf of the republican governors in tight races, eight trips to illinois, seven to florida, five in maine, four in connecticut, four in mangz, four in michigan, four trips in colorado. You know where im going here. How much credit do you personally deserve for the success of the republican governors across the country . Candidates deserve the credit. Its always about the candidates. They deserve the credit. You raise money and awareness. Candidates have to do what they will, but, you know, listen, this is about candidates across the country making great job. Youre here this morning, willing to be one of the faces of this republican route. Do you think the success that these governors had in these tight races boosts your credentials nationwide, especially two years out from a president ial race . I have no idea. I got legislated by fellow governors to be chairman in a year where we have to defend twothirds of the seat. Thats opposite of what went on in the senate. We did not have a great map in the favor. Nine states defended, the president won twice. We won eight of the nine of the its about our candidates, matt, not me. Happy to help, glad to have their confidence, but thats all it is. First time here since there was a runin with a heckler, a week ago, second anniversary, and the guy would not sit down. You said, sit down and shut up. That response is something staunch supporters love. It makes other people queasy, do you have to control that to be seen president ial . First of all, you assume i was not controlled, and, you know, i sat and took it for a while. Other people, the hundreds of people that were there issue deserve to hear what we have to say that day. Theres anger in the party, finger pointing between Congress Democrats and president obama. They are trying to putt on a public face of conciliation, hey, you know, we heard. The question is, how much will they do that . Theyve done this before, but are you going to see a shake up . See him say, you know, im going to table issues over here that i think well start on ied logical fight between the two parties and just focus on taxes and energy. Governor christies right, if those are the issues they focus on in the white house, they can get something done. They can stoke the fires. Hard to answer if theres more or less gridlock. I think thats right. I think that Congressional Democrats are ready to fight. I think some democrats are ready to put obama in the past, focus on the clintons, focus on 2016. If you look at the actual number of votes, thats less than 2,200 votes that separate the two.
