They wilt very quickly but if you think about them as little flowers and do it bouquet style, whether its basil or parsley, put them in a little cup or vase. On the windowsill in your kitchen. And you can do the same thing by arranging your asparagus. You can put them in and have your little bouquet of asparagus. Theyll last longer because this water seeps up through the stems and keeps them fresh. They all need water, every one of them. Can you guess whats happening here . Youre making ice cubes out of things. You take a bunch of herbs, chop them up and stick them in ice cube trays, and to preserve them you make little cubes out of them. You put water in it so when you need them, you go one at a time. Throw them in soup or whatever . Thats right, because the water evaporates thats so smart what about apples, onions, potatoes . You look and say, what am i supposed to do with onions and garlic . Just get a little bag, poke a few holes in it and you can store them at room temperature. You dont want to put these in the fridge. This can be true for garlic and onions. If you want to get fancier, you can get some of these bamboo steamers and store your garlic on the counter. Theyll last for weeks. What about apples . Apples will leave the same kind of ethylene gas. You know how they say one bad apple ruins the bunch . You cant store these with the vegetables because that gas gets on everything. There are ways around this. You can store your produce sometimes people use bags. There are these special produce bags that can work for people, like those. Most important, when people are thinking about we always cook with potatoes and onions. We cant mix them because potatoes can sprout which makes them not good to use and they can have some problems.
