In britain yesterday as a snap election gamble backfires on theresa may. Now shes facing grows calls to resign. Did the terror attacks in manchester and london sway the results . Prosecutor claim she may have stolen more classified documents. Was she planned to use them to in her words burn the white house down. And a woman learns a hard lesson about texting while walking. Why your wifi in the sky is about to get much better. And the penguins roll pittsburgh on the cusp of hockey history today, friday, june 9th, 2017. From nbc news, this is today with matt lauer and savannah guthrie. Live from studio 1 a. Thanks for joining us on this friday morning. We have everything you need to know to get started. How about this wifi story at 30 or 25 or whatever thousand feet . I love a technology story. This is tom at 25,000 feet above new york city right now. When you say can you hear me now, the answer is yes. Well tell you about this new technology coming up. They are saying the wifi will be as good as it is on the ground. So its a big deal. Lets test it out. Let us start with that closely watched appearance on capitol hill by james comey. Accusing President Trump multiple times of lying and trying to derail the investigation into his former National Security advisor, michael flynn. But comey stated unequivocally that the president never tried to stop the overall russia investigation. Our Political Team ready to break it all down and well talk to corey lewandowski, but first haley jackson. Good morning to you. And this morning for the First Time Since this testimony, the president himself is responding to james comey and hes doing it where else, on twitter writing today despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication. Adding, and, wow, comey is a leaker. The president picking out the parts he prefers from comeys testimony but implying much of the rest under oath wasnt true. We will hear from the president later on in the rose garden where he set a News Conference and take a victory lap. This morning team trump arguing james comey didnt deliver a knockout blow after his testimony. Those were lies, plain and simple. That push back coming against the president s claims, comey was fired partly because of low moral at the fbi. I know i was fired about something of the way i was conducting the russia investigation was in some way putting pressure on him and irritating him and he decided to fire he because of that. The president s son saying the president is ready to move on. I think now he can go back to doing what he promised he was going to do. The president not saying whether he believes comey told the truth. Do you think he told the truth to the senate . But his lawyer did, zeros in on comeys claims the president asked him to let flynn go, referring to fired National Security advisor michael flynn. The president never in form or substance directed or suggested that mr. Comey stop investigating anyone. The president also never told mr. Comey, quote, i need loyalty. I expect loyalty. Flynn had no comment arriving in d. C. Overnight and the president had no comment on line either thursday. Turning not to his twitter followers but his faith at a speech in washington. As the bible tells us, we know that the truth will prevail. But the truth is what comey think it is president has a problem with. I was honestly concerned he might lie about the nature of hur meeting and so i thought it really important to document. Comey acknowledged during his tenure, the president was not under investigation and that the president did not try to stop the fbi inquiry. Comey was less conclusive when it came to their testimony about flynn. Do you sense the president was trying to obstruct justice. Thats a conclusion im sure the special council will work towards. That and implicit confirmation the special counsel is looking into whether the president asked comey to dial down an investigation, what comey hoped might be triggered by sharing his account of the flynn consideration. I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with the reporter. Didnt do it myself for a variety of reasons. But i asked him to because i thought that might appropriate the appointment of a special counsel. Pointing comey as a leaker for that move made days after the president tweeted about tapes of the conversation. I have seen the tweet about tapes. I hope floor tapes. Release all the tapes. Im good with it. It wasnt just the Trump Administration in the spotlight. Loretta lynch asking him to call the Hillary Clinton inquiry a matter, not an investigation. We had an investigation open at the time. And, so, that gave me a queasy feeling. A person familiar with lynchs thinking tells nbc news comey never said at the time that he wasnt comfortable with the word matter, which lynch words so as not to confirm or deny an investigation. The Senate Intelligence committee expects top president ial advisor and the president s soninlaw Jared Kushner to meet with Committee Staffers this month. Two sources familiar with the planning are telling nbc news the committee expects kushner will meet with staff, provide documents and ultimately take questions from the senates the two sources said. Although, a third source says the timing conversation is is still ongoing. All of this an indication that the russia investigation will remain front and center. Matt, savannah. Thank you very much. Corey lewandowski is a close confidant of the president. Nice to see you. James comey called the sitting president of the United States a liar, not once, not twice, but multiple times. He did it under oath. He did it methodically and seriously he basically said i will stake my reputation as a career prosecutor who kept notes, my word against the president. Who do you think the people will believe . Weve seen he has made numerous mistakes when sworn in under oath. The previous time he testified in congress, he had to go back and clarify his statements because he made a number of misstatements. What we have seen from jim comey and we need to be very, very clear. If for any indication, any reason whatsoever he ever thought the president did something that was obstructing him of justice, he is obligated under 18 u. S. Code section 4 to report that. And if he does not, he is guilty of a felony. Hes said i turned my memos of my conversations. To the new york times. But hes also turned them over to the special counsel. Thats mighty nice of him after he gave it to the new york times. He said i turned them over, so now wouldnt it be a great idea, those tapes the President Trump tweeted about, let him turn those over to Robert Mueller and let Robert Mueller decide whose word is right. The story coming out yesterday was the president , candidate trump, president elect trump has never been under an fbi investigation. Now, thats very clear. He was very clear about that. He told the president directly that he was never under an investigation and all of a sudden, jim comey, who mind me is a career prosecutor, spent five years as the fbi director was so stunned he had a oneonone private conversation with the president of the United States. He didnt know how to report this to the attorney general to say im concerned. You dont get to have it both ways. According to you. According to you. So wait a minute. He gave his notes to a columbia law professor because he wasnt man enough to give the notes directly to the media when he wanted them out to the media. Whats happening here and that you and presumably the president are saying comey is telling the truth when it is good for the president and when it is bad for the president comey is not telling the truth. Thats not intellectually honest. There is a clear dichotomy here. Either you are or are not under investigation. You cant be kind of under investigation. And what director comey said is that the president has never been under an fbi investigation. He also said the president demanded a loyalty oath. Would you agree that would be inappropriate. Its subjective. If it was inappropriate and if jim comey was so concerned about it mind me he also testified Loretta Lynch asked him to speak about an Ongoing Investigation in a manner that wasnt comfortable, but he had to change the verage he was using. Is it ever appropriate for a sitting president to ask an acting fbi director for loyalty . Look, he has to be loyal to the country, of course. To the president of the country, not the president. The president didnt say he wanted loyalty from is it ever appropriate for a sitting president to ask an acting fbi director to let go of an investigation into a close associate. He said i hope we can get this resolved. If you listen to the testimony closely i hope you can let this go. And what director comey said under oath was in his experience he has never hoped something would happen. The last one, was it ever appropriate for a sitting president to clear everyone else out of a room and keep an acting fbi director in that room and ask him about an active investigation . You know why thats appropriate . Because jim comey is the one who originally asked for a oneonone private meeting with president elect trump on january 6th in trump tower. Something he denies. That was to brief him on a dossier. A false dossier that he knew was false. But jim comey is the one who asked for the private meeting the first time. So the pattern was set by jim to say i want a private meeting with President Trump. Comey stayed after to avoid embarrassment for the president saying you should know this is out there. Okay. Just real quickly because it seems like there is debate over what really happened, what was said in the oval office, the president has hinted that he has tapes. Comey says release the tapes. I give you permission. Youre free to do so. Will the president release the tapes . Are there tapes . I dont work for the white house. I dont work in the white house. I dont know if tapes were made, are made. If they are, look, i think jim comeys credibility is at about zero right now. Thats from the democrats who questioned him. Its from the republicans who questioned him yesterday. Marco rubio from florida said, dan, the only leak not coming out of the fbi was that president elect trump and now President Trump isnt under fbi investigation. If you were advising the president today, would you say, sir, release those tapes if you have them. I think the conversation actually didnt take place in the oval office. I think jim was referring to a discussion they had over dinner. He said he had tapes of these key conversations. He didnt say there were. Theres that word hope again, corey. Corey, thank you. Lets bring in Nicole Wallace right now. What were the Big Questions that lingered to you after james comeys testimony . Well, if you needed any more evidence that we live in america, corey just gave it to you. Trumps enthusiast are going to stair at the trees that paint the picture of the forrest they want to live in. The truth is what we learned yesterday is that donald trump had a lot of interactions with fbi director jim comey as president elect and as president. No one can deny that. In one of them, in none of them did he ask the single question about the ver roracity of russi meddling in the american election. That is the most troubling and really the big structural sort of blow for the president is that hes also worried about his personal legal equities and about the criminal legal liabilities of his buddy mike flynn. It is interesting because corey well let you back in here. But it is interesting to me because on the one hand there were things that were problematic with james comeys testimony. I think it is a fair criticism on the issue of leaking to the going through proper channel like the congress or for example what dine feinstein asked him about. Why didnt you stand up then and there . But there are parts quite damaging to the president. If you listen to the testimony yesterday, he testified under oath. He knew that Jeff Sessions was going to recuse himself. He made that statement knowing on february 15th he said i knew that attorney general Jeff Sessions was going to recuse himself. He didnt recuse himself until march 2nd. He said we had good reason to believe he was going to recuse himself. He also did this. He dropped another little morsele. Our judgment as i recall was that he was very close to and inevitably going to recuse himself for a variety of reasons. We also were aware of facts that i cant discuss in an open setting that would make his continued engagement in a russiarelated investigation problematic. He chooses his words very carefully. He just dangled something there. If you are the president of United States, do you walk into Jeff Sessions today and say, what are they talking about . What else is there . What we have seen in jim comey, his goal is to manipulate the media and the press. Hes everything thats wrong with washington. What happened on march 1st, the wall street journal publish add story about attorney general Jeff Sessions and his unreported meeting with kids lee yak, the russian ambassador. What it said in that story is there were hammering at the department of justice and there was no formal way to remove an attorney general from an investigation. Jeff sessions recused himself the following day. But the testimony was i knew he was going to recuse himself because hes probably the one that leaked the story to the wall street journal. I worked for a president for seven years. I met one russian in all those years. Everybody and around trump and everyone around him, you know, was breaking bread with russians all the time. And when it came time to testify about those meetings, they lied and left them off their forms. What comey was referencing was we mad reason to believe that sessions wasnt going to make it because he hadnt been truthful about interaction with a russ n russian. It is always russia. Its never mexicans and canadians. Has the president ever leaked anything . Has he ever been an anonymous source . What i know is the president is the most open president in the history of our country. Yes or no . One mans openness is another mans leaker. Theyre telling us, really have to go. Thanks very much. During questioning he said that he had no doubt he was fired because of the russia investigation. While also sounding the alarm about the ongoing threat moscow still poses to the u. S. Nbc Peter Alexander is at the white house for us. Good morning. Reporter good morning. This morning the president for the first time responding himself to james comey writing on twitter, of course, despite so many false statements and lies, total and complete vindication, and wow, comey is a leaker. Still even though comey acknowledged the president during his tenure was not under investigation, the cloud of the russia inquiry lingered over the white house. The comey making a striking statement telling senators yesterday the president showed no interest in how to counter the kremlins interference in our elections. In the tense partisan environment in washington, theres one fact both sides find indisputable. The russians interfered in our election during 2016 cycle. They did it with purpose. They did it with sophistication. Reporter but former fbi director testified the president never raised any concerns about moscows mettling. Did the president show any concern or curiosity about what the russians were doing . I dont remember any conversations with the president about the russia election interference. Reporter angus king, for him, that statement was revealing . I thought that was one of the most disturbing moments of the hearing. For months the president has been essentially dismissing the matter as a hoax and a fake. That is disturbing. Because this was an attack on our democracy. Reporter comey insisting the threat is very real. Do you have any doubt that russia attempted to interfere in the 2016 elections . Reporter none. Reporter the committees top democrat pounding home the point, taking a shot at President Trump who has down played russiarelated stories . It is an effort to protect our country from a new threat that will not go away any time soon. Reporter comey indicated russia one of the americas top adversaries is trying to he shape the United States. Were talking about a Foreign Government that using lots of meths, tried to shape the way we think we vote, we act. That is a big deal. Reporter comeys testimony in contrast of Vladimir Putins denials in this recent interview with megyn kelly. I havent seen even once any direct proof of russian interference in the president ial election in the United States. Reporter but the issue of mr. Trumps associates possible meetings with the russians, remains unresolved. He said and if some of my satellites did something wrong, it would be good to find that out. I imagine he meant other people surrounding his campaign. It would be great to know that as well. Yes, sir. Thats what he said. Reporter the russia inquiries far from over. The president s senior adviser, Jared Kushner, could meet with congressional staffers as early as this month. But we are told no date has been set. A tough 2016 for her and she opened up to you. Absolutely. So erin andrews was a rising star in the highly competitive world of sideline sports reporting and then all hell broke loose in her life. Her stalk her been secretly filming her naked in several of her hotel rooms unbeknownst to erin and then the guy posted the tape on the internet. When she found out, it was a moment that would change her life and that would change erin as a person forever. What was that feeling when you first saw yourself . I think to this day how many years later you can still see it on my face, i was just stunned, i was in shock, i was embarrassed, i was freaking out so much that when i called my parents my dad thought i had been injured in a car accident because i was just screaming bloody murder on the other end. Did you know it was you . Yes, you know your body, very quickly. One of the videos we had to watch, you can hear him breathing in it, you can also hear people behind him walking, which is also disgusting. And hes angling the turning it every way i turn, but i think the breathing is the hardest part, you can hear him breathing. What is that like for you . Makes me want to take about 80 showers, so gross. What was the toughest moment during the trial . There were a couple. My mom and dad were the hardest, was the hardest. Theyre my rock. And just seeing your mom just so nervous before she has to walk out there and i said, oh, my god, whats wrong, you know . Is she hurt . What . And then i heard her say, naked. I am naked, dad. They have got me, im naked. That poor mother. And when you talk to erin andrews, number one thing i came away with is how much it was nine years ago it happened. The trial was last year but its still right here. You hear cases about perverts who stalk women or film women, and you think, okay, it is over, 2017, america, like this happens. It is right there. Especially emotional when she talked about her parents and how her parents reacted, you can tell that pain hurt her. If you stop and think, the reason i said it was a tough year for her, she had that episode, but she also had another personal episode. Just as soon as she got through the trial, she got a call from her doctor and was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. And not only was that so hard on erin, as she puts it in the piece, can i get a minute . Can i get a minute . But her poor parents, you know, who are her rocks find out their daughter has Cervical Cancer and what she had to go through after that is all detailed, first time shes spoken out about it. We look forward to hearing from her and well hear that conversation sunday night here on nbc. Look forward to that. Now to dylan with a check of the weather. Thanks, guys. We are looking at a very, very warm weekend through most of the country. Today, were going to see temperatures back through the midwest and the northern plains, get into areas like 100 degrees, in pierre, south dakota, 84 in minneapolis, wichita, 85. Little rock, 83. That heat will continue to move eastward by saturday. Omaha, nebraska, 97 degrees. Chicago, close to 90. Amarillo, texas, over 100 degrees. Were going to see temps stay in the 90s next week as well. Chicago will stay in the lower 90s on sunday, monday, tuesday, making it a heat wave. So we are going to see a very warm temperatures through the eastern twothirds of the country. It is changing, though, out west. Cool, showery weather, starting to make its way on shore. 80s with 60s. We have more rain expected down good morning. Heim meteorologist kari hall. The cloudy skis staying with us for the next several hours. San francisco dealing with drizzle right now. Expect a high of 63 degrees, 60 tomorrow and a few sprinkles will be possible on sunday, warming up next week. For the inland areas, it will be very nice and comfortable for the next few days. Sunday rain mainly in the north bay. Next week a lot of sunshine and feeling like summer on thursday. T. Dylan, thank you. Time for whats trending. Let me ask, you got problems . Anything on your mind . Anything you want to talk about . How long you got . There is an app for that. Can i interest you in a chat bot therapist. A team of stanford psychologists and Artificial Intelligence experts have created i love this the woebot. It provides talk therapy through Facebook Messenger so the robot, the woebot checks on you once a day, uses your ongoing conversations youre having to evaluate your mood. Costs 39 bucks. Would you want to have if i text somebody some emojis, the woebot. Will evaluate that and ask you questions such as, how often over the last two weeks were you bothered by feeling anxious, nervous, on edge, feeling down, depressed, hopeless . How do you feel right now . I think it is ironic, dont you, a robot to talk to. I have been feeling anxious about the fact i dont have any friends to talk to and i have to talk to a woebot. On the other hand, if it was a way to facilitate you kind of getting real about your emotional state, maybe thats a good thing. Any way to get it out. 39 bucks, a lot cheaper than a therapist, i can tell you that right now, personal experience. Texting anyway, talking to this box anytime as it is. Good luck with that. Coming to the app store. A lot to get to today. Pop start, and then the daily clip. Yes. Double dose here. Were going to start with taylor swift, pop superstar bringing her music back to streaming services. Back. If you recall, swift removed her hit songs from platforms like spotify after slamming the industry for royalty payments. Taylor announcing the news on instagram late thursday night saying she is celebrating selling over 10 million 1989 albums and thanked her fans by making her music available on all streaming services at midnight. Shes great. In our next half hour. Exactly right. Carson, youre not done though. To the daily click, best video of the day. Dylan this will make sense to you. As a parent, it is hard to get our kids to help out around the house. Thats not the case with this 2 years old. Miles callahan. He likes to clean, hes totally selfsufficient when doing so. Watch the daily click video. It will be awesome. Take a look. Look at that. Look whats happening there. His parents walked in, casually saw him doing the dishes while balancing on the sink using his toddler beer belly. Look at this. He climbed up there by himself. First reaction was that go ahead, get the camera, film this impressive balancing act, but he was in no rush. Miles actually dangled like that for eight hours. No, 15 minutes. But they did eventually bring him a chair to stand on. It is common to find miles doing random chores around the house, but clearly taking doing the dishes to a whole new level. That is very impressive. Amazing. I could watch that for hours on end, your daily click today. You know what i love about that, carson, you said they didnt stop, they brought a chair. Keep the dishes going. Here is the vacuum. All right. Carson, thanks so much. Now to a brandnew rossen reports. If youre heading to the beach there are new gaethts you gadg your family safe. Jeff rossen tried some of them out. He has the results. Are you going to the beach this weekend . Yes. Love the beach, hate the sand. I like the pool. A lot of us are going to the beach. Who doesnt love it . There are issues to think about. What if a thief snatches your stuff from your blanket when you step away . What if your child wanders away . What if im pulled under water . Now, new technology to help solve it all. New devices that are pretty cheap that we found designed to protect you, your kids and your stuff. This morning, were beach bound to try them out. Call it your summer survival kit. This thing says it can protect your valuables. This band promises to protect your kids wandering around. And this can save you in the water. Pulling you to the surface fast if youre drowning. But lets start with your stuff. It is a classic problem, right . Youve been sitting on the beach for hours, want to get up, stretch your legs, take a walk down the beach, maybe go in the water but youre a sitting duck for thieves. They can come by. You dont want to leave your stuff just in some bag on the towel so we found this really cool product called the beach vault. As it sounds. You open ite up, put your valuables inside of it and close it up, screws right on, like that. All done. What you do is, they tell you to dig a little hole, like that, and then you just corkscrew it right in, like this. Right into the sand. It is not hard. Trust me, if i can do it, anyone can. And in less than a minute all good. All you to is just dump sand over it like this, grab any blanket you have, toss it over it, done, cant see a thing, your stuff is safe. Love that. Next up, how to protect your kids if they wander away from you. To show you this one, we have a 10yearold volunteer today, this is andy. Hi, andy. Hi. Thanks for helping us out. It is called the bunny tag. Put it on your childs wrist. It syncs up to an app on your phone. Does a couple of cool things. First thing, if your kid is anywhere on the beach or anywhere at all, there is a black button. Hit that. Thats a panic button. You get an alarm on your phone, which is really cool. Ill reset it. Here is Something Else it does, you can set the distance for your child to stray. If they stray beyond that zone, an alarm goes off again. Run down to the ocean for me. I have this set on medium distance now. So when andy hits the water, the alarm should go off. She just hit the water and look at that. The alarm is going off. And thats not all it does. If youre worried about your child swimming without you knowing, watch what happens when andy gets the wristband wet. There it goes. Shes under water and the alarm is going off. Worked for us there too. But the most important device maybe this one called the kinji, it can prevent drowning and it is important according to the cdc, about ten people die every day from unintentional drowning. Heres how it works. By the way, you can use this in the ocean, the pool, lake, wherever there is a body of water and youre going in. There is a little inflatable here. This little pouch here, it is all packed in. When youre under water and want to be safe, want to come to the surface, you pull this little latch back, this is a co2 and it juts this thing out, inflates and brings you up. Okay, lets do it. Lets go under. Here we go. Whoa. Wow, that worked. And here is the other cool thing about this, it has a compass on it, right over here, so if youre in the middle of the ocean, you know which way to swim, if you need to. Or how to there is a whistle here in case youre boating or youre swimming with friends. And you can let your friends know. That you need help. And this stays inflated, the company says, for 48 hours. Can really save your life. Really cool. More good news here, all of these items are less than 100. Some less than 50 bucks. We have links to all of the devices and the prices on our website right now, today. Com. Good info. Cool. Thank you. Outside to carson. All right, guys, halsey is in the plaza. Were minutes away from putting on an amazing concert. She has blue hair. Vo rail ling good . New this morning. At least six people rescued after a fire at an apartment a very good friday morning to you. New this morning, at least six people rescued after a fire in an Apartment Building in San Francisco. Im lucky, i have the best fans in the world. And i try hard every day to establish a personal connection with as many of them as i can. Because of that, our relationship is going to last a very long time. You feel that connection not only with your fans but can we point out your family . Its cool to see family members. Thats my brother and my dad, my grandmother and my grandpa. What a beautiful group. Im lucky. Very attractive family. You have a great story about you putting your own music out and getting discovered that way. What advice would you give to somebody thats watching right now and think, i can do that, too . I think follow your gut. When you read a story about a massively successful artist, you hear them say, i followed by gut. I trusted myself. You never hear them say, i did what my gut was telling me to and it didnt work out. Follow your heart. You will manifest what you want, if you believe in it. Halsey is being modest. She cowrote her album on it. Tons of visuals. How do you stay connected to these people . Your relationship with your fans is admirable. I want to say its an extra effort from me. But i have a great memory. I never forget a face. Everyone has a special story. I remember how we met. I always will. That will never leave me. Ready to sing again . I guess so. Ladies and gentlemen, halsey. A good one, sat down with jon hamm, wide rafnging conversatio on life after madmen, his family roots and he worries hell never work again. I think we can all relate to that. All of that on sunday today with willie geist. Walked by the dressing room upstairs and there was a wall there, i realized it was john cena. Apparently hes cohosting the next hour. His room is next to mine. Mr. Cena, nice to see you. The nicest person in the world. So nice. He will break you, probably. He lifted al over his head one time. Wow. Freebie friday. Freebie friday. Lawyers and family connected to derek almena, the Master Tenant and manager charged in the deadly oakland fire. He is facing 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter. Max harris is the second man facing charges. Happening right now, barts president Rebecca Saltzman has proposed scrapping a law that lets bart police fine riders who take up more than one seat on the train. Starting with a little funk this morning. Listening to closer by the chain smokers, featuring halsey, who just put on an incredible live concert on our plaza. Sh shes young, right . Early 20s. 22. And has a Good Relationship to her fans. They were staring at her. And you can tell she is genuinely happy to be there. Well hear from her later this morning. And then, you know them, you love them, your favorite guest cohost. Youre not even a guest. John cena. There you go. Appreciate it. I was holding on to hot packs. Really . Youre holding on to hand warmers. Its always really cold in here. And im the only one that feels it. Youre always hot. Maybe its not cold. Clearly, just you. I guess it is my the hand warmers. If its me, its me. Welcome back. Thanks for having me. Thanks for squeezing us in. Hes a busy man. Let me back up. How is Wedding Planning . The last time he was here, he popped the question in epic fashion. She had the j. Lo fan going. You have fans on the bottom . That was outdoor. That was the citrus bowl. 75,000 people. Al roker was there. I was supernervous. Wwe audience, sometimes they like me and sometimes they dont. I was expecting for them to give me hell. If that happened and maybe she didnt say yes or whatever. Supernervous. Its so adorable. Maybe she doesnt say yes . The audience, its weird. Its weird sometimes. In the moment. Theyre like, no, no, no. She looks at you, kicks me in the face or something. I dont know. Come on. You know what it was . There was a gazillion of us watching . It felt like it was just you and her. She was standing there. And like i said, she had the earth fan going. Its called wind. Certainly enjoyed myself. It was a moment. And doing it on television was a risk. But we have it documented forever. We can relive that excitement. Its really cool. Im shirtless. My manoobs are all out. I dont think were doing wwe weddings. They tend to be smash cakes. Im going to cut my losses and hedge my bets right there. Speaking of wearing clothes for the wedding. Did you see the video what were you doing . Taking off our clothes. This was on the Youtube Channel. We decided to celebrate 500,000 subscribers, doing it crazy style. There was an accident that happened eventually. That was my fault. Oh, no. You got to watch later on. Yeah. What a tease. You have to go to the Youtube Channel and watch it. Did you drop the blur . No. Youre going to have to see. Were you really naked . It was a mistake . Were you naked . You have to watch the video and decide for yourself. I dont know what youre talking about. Lets talk about something you can talk about. Yeah. American grit 2 are you excited for that . I am. A little clip of it. We decided to do something different. Last year, we took established, determined people to see who had the most grit. And this year, to be more relatable to our audience, we take a cast of characters that are lost their grit. Theyre going through personal deficiencies or life problems. I have a great set of military mentors that helps them get back on track. Sunday nights on fox, we urge everybody to find their grit. Can we see a clip . I want to hear. This is where we fight it. Somebodys pulling. Back up we go. In the zone, wow. And shes just allsmiles. Were still on. Were still on. Not too bad. You made it through the first drip. There it is. Nobodys pulling. You drop right now, you go home right now. You see, thats on sunday. We had contestants that had fear of water, fear of heights. And like fear of own environment. Being upside down, down in the water and all three of those are my biggest fears. And how about all at once . I know. Shouldnt you not be upside down for that long . They have youll find on the show. They have a rip cord they can pull anytime they want. Its a matter of determination and find your grit. No wonder you had no sympathy when i told you i was tired. Im fine. Its warm in here. Thats good stuff. We were talking before the show, theres so many shows that are being filmed in georgia. Yes. Yesterday, i with us in atlanta to meet the cast of bad moms. Bad moms christmas. Youre going to love it. I told them. The first time i saw bad moms, i was on a plane. I was supposed to be prepping for an interview. I was looking at the movies. I watched bad moms laughed out loud. It was so relatable. We have felt pressure to be the perfect mom. She comes in with doughnuts. I feel those pressures all the time. But dads do feel some pressure. I can relate to the bad mom pressure. They said this time around, even more guys will enjoy bad moms christmas. I think they thought they were going to a chick flick. And the guys ended up enjoying it. This time, its the moms with their moms, their tv moms. Its really going to be good. Thats a good concept. They were very revealing, too. Talked about not only their characters, but their lives. Well have that coming up. I saw an instagram. Were you at a trampoline house . Oh. I dont know if we have it. Its called sports zone. Like a new trampolines all over the room. You can jump all over the place. So much fun. Stupid fun. What do you call those places . Fly zone. I think it was called sports zone. In atlanta . I think they have them all over the country. Can you imagine . It almost reminded me the old show gladiators . Jumping up and down. Thats true. I wonder what that would be like. Can you imagine doing flips on a bouncy trampoline. Im filming called the pack down there and doing something next week with the rotary foundation and the bill and Melinda Gates foundation. I get to speak with bill next week. He has a huge announcement. Im going to keep it under wraps. You can tell me. I cannot. But im very, very happy to be asked to be a part of it. And its going to be a groundbreaking announcement. Very good stuff happening next week on behalf of the rotary foundation and bill and Melinda Gates. Theyre the real deal when it comes to giving. I cannot wait to talk to them about that. Its going to be interesting. Were going to air the interview. I hope so. Its a big announcement. You know what i did yesterday . What did you do . I napped for 20 minutes. Thats kind of a big deal. When did you find time to do that . I dont know. I closed my eyes for a minute. And the house was quiet. Were you out cold . I think i just napped. I looked at the clock and it was 20 minutes. There you go. Kudos to you. Thats what i did. Speaking of secrets you cant reveal yet. You know what time it is . What time is it . Game time. I love games. Im so good at today show games. Anything clever . Its secrets of cena. All right. This sounds like once again. Deodorant. Typical today show setup. Gavin put popcorn in it for you. To make it more appealing . Dive right in. What do i do . How do we play the game . Is it just me purgie ining my secrets . Whats the worst injury ive suffered during a wrestling match. Whats the worst injury i caused. I cause my opponents feelings to be hurt. And the worst injury i ever had, i had my nose shifted to the side of my face. Its documented. And i ended up wrestling 15 minutes with the nose on the side of my face. Could you breathe . Through my mouth. Why didnt you say, lets stop now . I dont do that. Grit. Exactly. You have one of the most famous scenes in train wreck, how many takes did it take to do . What do you remember about that scene . Walking around all day with a sock. Not on my feet. And it took a day to shoot. And the set started closed and private. And by the end, caterers were selling tickets. Thats hilarious. You have to be comfortable with your body. Totally embarrassing. On to the next one. You worked with countless celebrities and comedians. Who do you think would make the best professional wrestler . That is you know . Im going straight to al roker. He had the energy of a ww superstar. He was down to get in there. We have to work on that. His selfprofessed name is chocolate thunder. But he has the basis for superstardom. Coming up, heres a question for you. Would you fly on a pilotless plane . Completely is there anything you wouldnt do . Yes. Back, now, with more of todays take and our cohost, john cena. Hey. Pilotless planes. I knew you were giving me that look. I tgo like this. Boeing, is the Worlds Largest plane manufacturer. And theyre now exploring jetliners that would fly without pilots. Cars without drivers. Now, planes without pilots. Theyre talking about, you know, already we can take planes can take off. They can land. They can cruise. Automated. Now, they want to remove the pilot off the plane. Im all for it, why . Matt cede thsaid this morniny sullenberger. Things are going to go wrong. Technology is not 100 . I feel like dylan dropped the mic. Im pushing forward to get there. Whats saying that the plane cant be completely digital and the people can be at desks like with pilotless drones. What if what ifs hold back technology. Lets fly these things. Ill be the first one to tear a ticket and get on and sit down. Lets look at twitter. 87 of people said no. Well, okay. They would not fly on a selfflying plane. Well, my message was rather convincing. We might see those numbers change. What was that quote . What ifs, hold back invent n invention. It wasnt invention fail. Something deep. Youll all be laughing when youre in the pilotless planes. Dont you want that guy to say, good afternoon, theres a tailwind of 50 degrees . What planes were you flying . Yesterday. Were about to face turbulence. Im not saying that pilots are bad. But if we can automate it, lets go. And dont forget selfdriving cars. Theres things you need people. I do, too. Theres certain things you can use bread for. Tell me more. Tell us, john. Anything. Sliced bread is the best thing since sliced bread. And we dont need no hightech, fancy inventions. What are you doing with the bread . Apparently in Country Living magazine, they say, apparently, you can cut off the crust. The crust is the best part. And you can try this at home. You make the bread into a perfect ball. And they say, with this, you have the perfect what am i rolling into a ball . You eat that part. And the middle part, you roll up. You have the Perfect Cleaning tool. It does come off. Will it come off with my fing center. You have that big bread smear. A few scuffs on the table. How what . If you spill something with ino bread is like a sponge. And theres no wifi needed. Its a loaf of bread. No automation right here. This morning on today food getting ready for the Big Apple Barbecue Block Party this weekend. This festival brings pit masters from around the country right here to the streets of new york city. And one of our favorite pit masters that stops by, is chris lily of big bob gibsons in alabama, who is cooking up his World Champion pulled pork barbecue sandwiches. Good morning to you. This is what i do every year. I come up here 15 of the top pit masters around the country, representing nine different states. Me, alabama. I am from kansas. And i always say we had the best barbecue. But this is pretty amazing. Start with the ingredients. Do the grid. First starter with an eight. Pound pork butt. We have amazing spices and indirections. This is a little worcestershire, apple juice, salt and sugar. And you whisk that up. Thats what were going to use . Thats what were going to use. You have a where did you get that . This is cheap. Any big box store. Couple bucks. Theyre almost disposable. This is my favorite injector. To get flavor and moisture all the way to the bone. Its a tenhour cooking process. This is long. We want to inject. We want to go in and inject. John, he knows what hes doing. Eight pounds of pork butt. Thats the bigs butt . Thats the top of the shoulder. The butt of the pork shoulder. Come on. Hear more from halsey and all our summer concert artists at applemusic. Com today. Our thanks to halsey. Back in a moment. This weekend is going to be a wild one in the world of sports, with not one but two championships on the line, in the nba and the nhl. And plus, if thats not enough, how about one of the most prestigious races in all of horse racing. Here to help us break it down is nbc sports mike tirico. Good morning to you. Who is this lady behind me now . Youre a rack star. Youre everywhere. I cant pretend like im a diehard hockey fan. What is this . The energy of hockey is great. If you go there live, its even better. And the scene in nashville, thats as cool a scene as ive seen for any sport, in the 25 years ive been doing this. Pittsburgh won last night. Theyre one game away from winning the stanley cup for the secondstraight year. But the nashville fans are nuts. As loud as i ever heard. You heard hoda lost her voice. Well see if they can force a game seven. Fun to watch for everybody. Ill be at the belmont tomorrow. You will . Betting on horses like i did. First time youre at the Belmont Stakes. Are you getting into the horse racing thing . The people around horse racing is great. It was so much fun. The derby and the preakness winners on there. But we have patch. This horse is so cool. The horse has one eye. He is able to do it. And he has a chance to win this race because hes bred from horses that have run well. Like a childhood storybook waiting to happen. I got to meet him. We have some nba history. Tonight. . Golden state. The first time to run through the playoffs without a loss. If they beat cleveland, they will win the nba finals. An incredible team. Superteam put together, when they added kevin durant. Theyve kept Lebron James Team in check. There was a moment in game three, the clip they battle and forth. And they are toying with him out there. For the rest of us that are normal size, we love steph curry and what golden state has done because theres hope for the little guys. You can shoot and dribble and win. And kevin durant has been almost unfair. Cheers. Cheers to popcorn. Very nice. Unbelievable. And you, as well, being named to thursday night football and the olympics. Awesome weekend for sports. Im starting here, in rock center and eating popcorn. We look forward to the olympics and all of the fun stuff. Live coverage right here on nbc app and you can catch game six of the nhl final.
