Senator tim kaine officially accepted the nomination as Vice President. Lets start with the president s speech delivered 12 years to the day since he first arrived on the National Political scene with his 2004 speech to the democratic convention. Last night he sought to compare the vision he shares with Hillary Clinton against the one donald trump laid out one week earlier. We democrats always had plenty of differences with the republican party, and theres nothing wrong with that. Its precisely this contest of idea that pushes this idea forward. What we heard in cleveland last week wasnt particularly republican and it sure wasnt conservative. What we heard was a deeply pessimistic vision and that is not the america i know. Most of all, i see americans of every party, every background, every faith who believe that we are stronger together. Black, white, latino, asian, native american, young, old, gay, straight, men, women, folks with disabilities all pledging allegiance under the same proud flag to this big, bold country that we love. Thats what i see. Thats the america i know. After all these years, she has never forgotten just who she is fighting for. But hillary has been in the room. Shes been part of those decisions. She knows whats at stake in the decisions our government makes. Whats at stake for the working family, for the Senior Citizen or the Small Business owner. For the soldier, for the veteran. That is the hillary i know. Thats the hillary ive come to admire. And thats why i can say with confidence there has never been a man or a woman, not me, not bill, nobody more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as president of the United States of america. Time and again youve picked me up. And i hope sometimes picked you up, too. And tonight i ask you to do for Hillary Clinton what you did for me. I ask you to carry her the same way you carried me. America, youve vindicated that hope these past eight years. And now im ready to pass the baton and do my part as a private citizen, so this year in this election, im asking you to join me to reject cynicism and reject fear and to summon what is best in us to elect Hillary Clinton as the next president of the United States and show the world we still believe in the promise of this great nation. The president capped his speech by then literally embracing Hillary Clinton on stage. The night didnt impress the Trump Campaign much. They accused the president of resorting to the politics of fear and saying that, quote, they offer nod solutions for the problems facing america, in fact they pretended those problems didnt even exist. They described a vision of america that doesnt exist for most americans including the 70 of americans who think our country is on the wrong track. Never has a party been so disconnected from what is happening in our world. Last night wikileaks posted 14 minutes of audio what they claim were voice mail messages from top democratics. Yesterday, donald trump batted back accusations that his party is being assisted by the russian government. He suggested that if they did hack into the emails, they should go a step further. Its just a total deflection. This whole thing with russia. By the way, if they hacked, they probably have her 33,000 emails. I hope they do. They probably have her 33,000 emails that she lost and deleted because you would see some beauties there. But i watched this guy move. He talked about we think it was russia that hacked. Then he said could be trump, yeah, yeah, trump, trump. It is so farfetched, its so ridiculous. Honestly i wish i had that power. I would love to have that power, but russia has no respect for our country and thats why if it is russia. Nobody knows. Its probably china. Or it could be somebody sitting in its bed. It will be interesting to see i will tell you this, russia if youre listening, i hope youre able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press. Lets see if that happens. That will be next. That a person in our government, katie, would delete or get rid of 33,000 emails. That gives me a big problem. If russia or china or any other country has those emails, to be honest with you, i would love to see them. Trump also defended his praise for russian president Vladimir Putin and would not call for him to stay out of the white house race. You call on put on the stay out of this esflex. Im not going to tell putin what to do. He already did something today where he said dont blame them essentially for your incompetence. I dont think putin has any respect whatsoever for clinton. I think he does respect me. And i hope i get along great with him. Its possible that we wont, jeremy. I hope that we get along great with putin because it would be great to have russia with a good relationship. Right now we dont have a good relationship. Putin has said things over the last year that are really bad things. Okay . He mentioned the n word one time. I was shocked to hear him mention the n word. You know what the n word is, right . I was shocked. Total lack of respect for president obama. Number one, he doesnt like him. Number two, he doesnt respect him. I think hes going to respect your president if im elected and i hope he likes me. Trumps statements on russia yesterday drew criticism from opponents and disagreement from allies. Later in the night, National Security figures criticized him from the democratic conventions podium. Donald trump calls himself the law and order candidate. But he will violate international law. This morning, this very morning, he personally invited russia to hack us. Thats not law and order. Thats criminal intent. Donald trump today once again took russias side. He asked the russians to interfere in american politics. Think about that. As someone who was responsible for protecting our nation from cyberattacks, it is inconceivable to me that any president ial candidate would be that irresponsible. The former republican turned independent said he understands why americans would want a businessman for their president but made the case why trump isnt the right one.
