Theres been a real outcry from the medical community, even from the white house over the weekend. Late last night, you saw the governor of the state of new york andrew cuomo coming out to clarify that he said doctors and nurses coming back from west africa could be put in a 21day quarantine at their homes. Still, many are saying do we need this policy at all . New York Governor Andrew Cuomo last night seemed to try to strike a middle ground, saying Health Care Workers should be comfortable, but still insisting on a 21day quarantine. My personal practice is to err on the side of caution. Reporter a course of criticism after new york joined new jersey and illinois in forcing a mandatory quarantine. Ebola survivor Nancy Writebol said it would discourage others from volunteering in west africa. We wont have medical people willing to go and help. Many doctors and nurses cannot afford to be away from their practices for that period of time. Reporter and the white house got involved, Senior Administration official saying sunday they had let the governors know they have concerned about the unintended consequences of the policies. Nurse casey hickox has become sort of a poster child as to how the policy has played out in real life, waking up in a climate controlled tent next to a new jersey hospital after arriving at knew arc airport friday from sierra leone, where she treated ebola patients. She claims authorities at newark were unprepared, keeping her alone for hours. She says she was flustered and registered an elevated fever but was never truly ill. I have been asymptomatic since ive been here. I feel physically completely strong. Reporter in an exclusive interview with cnn, hickox criticized her quarantine. It doesnt make sense. Its not evidencebased. The second thing is, its really inhumane. Reporter she has hired a lawyer and plans to file a federal lawsuit, challenging the quarantine as part of her Civil Liberties. The mayor of new york city says she should have been treated better. We owe her better than that and the people who do all this work better than that. Reporter but governor Chris Christie defended his decisions as a matter of public safety. I understand miss hickox is uncomfortable and she doesnt want to be quarantined but my greater responsibility is the 8. 9 Million People of the state of new jersey. We want to take every precaution. Reporter governor christie said on sunday he had not heard from anybody in the white house. Meantime, Governor Cuomo saying he was not pressured by the white house to reverse the quarantine policy in new york state. Meantime, dr. Spencer, in this hospital behind me, is in stable condition. He received a blood transfusion over the weekend from Nancy Writebol, the survivor you saw in the piece. She says she hopes her antibo antibodies against ebola will help him in this fight. Matt . Gia soriano is now the second victim who died in this shooting. Were devastated by this senseless tragedy. Gich gia is our beautiful daughter. Reporter two more students are in critical condition, andrew fryberg. Hatch continues to improve. He was shot in the jaw and cant talk but wrote a message to his grandfather. It kind of broke his heart to hear. Why would my brother do that to me . Even though theyre cousins. Reporter for students, classes have now been replaced by candlelight vigils. This one honors the first victim, zoe galasgow, who died friday. Amazing grace close family friend passed along a message from zoes who are. She just loved her baby so, so much. It covers the length of a football field right now, thats the fastest its been moving in days, unrelenting and unstoppable. Overnight, red hot lava inches even closer to the taylors neighborhood. For weeks, theyve been bracing for the inevitable. Its kind of like a horror show happening in slow motion. Reporter oozing over streets and this week into a cemetery, its melting asphalt and earth, moving straight to the resort town of pahoa. Its real. Its now or never. You pack and youve got to get out. Reporter hawaiian officials are going door to door to the 40 or 50 homes under an evacuation warning. This woman may have to leave as soon as tomorrow. Its going to be sad watching our house go down. At the same time, you know, i would like to be here if its happened. Reporter the lava flow, triggered by a volcanic eruption at the end of june. Its been active for decades, its dramatic explosion often caught on camera but typically the lava has gone south, toward the ocean. Now its moving north, aimed at homes, restaurants and shops. The gunman was shot dead by a sergeant in arms inside the parliament building. South korean prosecutors are demanding the Death Penalty for the captain of a ferry that sank in april, killing more than 300 people. Prosecutors say he failed to carry out his duties, which they say amounts to homicide. Theyve also requested life sentence force three other crew members on charges they failed to protect passengers when the ferry was sinking. A big storm will move in later tonight and its all due to the remnants of ana, bringing a lot of rain. They dont need more rain in seattle. For example, for the year so far, for the month of october, theyre almost two inches above normal. For the year, almost 39 inches above normal, 38 inches so far for the year. Almost 12 inches above normal, a foot of rain above normal. Look at how much rain theyre going to get over the next 24 hours. Anywhere from two to three inches. Reporter in an interview over the weekend, jebs son, george p. Bush, running for texas land commissioner, was asked if there was a better than 50 chance his dad will run in 2016. I think its more than likely that hes giving this a serious thought. More than likely that hell run . That hell run. Reporter republican officials agree. A lot of people, our donor community, people we talk to who say hes leaning toward yes. Reporter in the top tier when matched amongst other political candidates, analysts say he could struggle in a primary. He ruffled feathers in his party base with these comments about immigration.
