Cottman and algon avenues in northeast philadelphia. Police say the two cars collided just before 4 oclock this morning and the force of it was to the point that one of the cars ended up on the lawn of Northeast High School. Both drivers had to be extricated out of their cars werent rushed to the hospital with multiple injuries. Lets turn now to david and karen for weather and traffic. Good morning. Good morning, everybody. Were off to a mild start this morning. Its real that last gasp of mild air before the cooler stuff arrives later today. You can see there is some cloud cover around the area to start out and in fact there is also some dense fog thats popped up in areas close to the coast, dense fog advisory until 10 oclock in all of our coastal counties where visibility is below a quarter mile. This goes until 10 oclock this morning and current visibilities are pretty low down along the coast. Under a quarter mile in some spots. Were now seeing that fog migrate a little closer to philadelphia. The visibility in the city has dropped from 10 miles to 5 miles just in the last half hour. And so it could be that this fog starts to become more of an issue closer to philadelphia as well as the morning goes on. Mild to starter out though. 57 degrees in philadelphia right now, almost 60 in wilmington and close to that down the shore as well. 57 millville. Still 49 in allentown but even that is a relatively mild number. As we head out the door this morning, 55 degrees by six and 56 by 8 oclock. Some of you may be dealing with fog. Mild today although well hit that high of 66 relatively early. I could see that happening around 1 30 or 2 oclock. After that the temperatures dip. 64 by 3 oclock and by 6 oclock all the way down to 53 and karen that does not bode well for the overnight hours when we are going to get down right cold. Details coming up. All right dave. Well enjoy that mild commute. Youre right were dealing with the fog this morning. David showed us how the visibility reports were worth in south jersey and delaware. Here were looking morrisville bucks county but you can also detect at least a touch of fog right here so you got to lower your speeds and be careful. Dont forget to use your low beams not high beams. This is route 1 at pennsylvania avenue. We have that serious accident that matt and tam have been talking about in northeast philadelphia here, cottman avenue and algon avenue, theyve shut down cottman between algon and somerdale. If youre in this area youy you can use rhawn street and levick or use when it can kerr avenue or castor avenue as options. Tacony palmyra bridge is in the clear. The construction has wrapped up right on schedule so looking a little better there and speeds on i95, the schuylkill and the the blue route mostly in the 50s at this point with no big problem. One more live look outside. This is the vine street expressway approaching the schuylkill, not too bad right here and traffic is very light, tam. Thank you karen. Happening today, kidnapping suspect Delvin Barnes will face a federal judge. He is the man accused of abducting a woman off a germantown sidewalk earlier this month. Now, barnes has been in custody since last week. Of course authorities believe he is the man seen in a disturbing video that was released right here abducting 22yearold carleesha freelandgaither after she had gotten off a bus. A witness said she kicked out the rear window as she fought with her attacker. Federal investigators used gps device placed in barnes car by a used car dealer to help locate the vehicle and rescue freelandgaither three days later. Again, barnes will be in court today. Of course well keep you updated on any developments as they happen today and throughout the week. Im erin ohearn live in the Satellite Center. Tam, back to you. Erin thank you for that. Bensalem police say 29yearold Anthony Carter of feasterville removed american flags and then set them on fire. Detectives were able to collect dna evidence from the flags wooden handle and it matched their suspect. Police do not believe there was any motive beyond making mischief. Carter denies the charges. So, david, its nice to set that fog option on Storm Tracker 6. Yeah, its been a good morning for that. We have some dense fog down by the shore but it is beginning to push inland a little bit and philadelphias starting to see visibilities drop a little bit. Nothing real dense in the city just yet but that could change and its something well be watching through the morning. Your thickest fog though is right down in those coastal communities where we have less than a quarter mile visibility. Lets head outside and were looking at the airport and the fog not all that bad here just yet. We have been noting a little bit of a misty look in some of the lights above the terminals but so far officially 5mile visibility in the city. Still mild is your first highlight of your forecast today. One more day of the milder air, although this afternoon we are going to start to feel those temperatures drop a bit and then overnight we are looking at an allout plunge in temperatures. Temperatures right now, though, arent that bad. 57 degrees in philadelphia. 57 in millville. 54 in trenton. 49 in allentown and 57 in Sea Isle City and the winds right now arent all that strong. Mostly in the single digits. Youve got satellite showing you that Morning Cloud cover. Could be a little bit of drizzle mixed in in areas where the fog is thick. And then out to the west some clearing and it does look like were going to transition to a mix of clouds and sun and this precip out to the west is going to fall apart before it gets here. As we take a look in allentown, we are going for a relatively mild high of 63 degrees, a little on the cool side, clouds mixing with sun as the day goes on. At the shore also above average temps today with a high getting up to 66 degrees, clouds mixing with sun, once we get rid of that dense fog advisory which expires at 10 oclock. After 10 00 we expect the fog to be a little bit better and then in philadelphia, were looking at a high of 66 degrees. Again, clouds with some morning fog giving way to some afternoon sun and as we go through the afternoon, those winds are going to turn out of the northwest and pick up to about eight to 16 miles per hour. Heres how the numbers are going to go today. 56 by 8 oclock, 60 by 11 00 your high probably strikes around one 30 or 2 00 with 66 and then we really start to fall in the afternoon. By 5 oclock well be down to 56 degrees and there will be that breeze blowing. Speaking of the winds, heres how youll see that wind shift. Notice how the winds just during the day slip out of the northwest and start to pick up. So, look for it to get blustery later on and were also looking at cooler temperatures as we get into the afternoon from about 1 oclock, 2 oclock where were going to hit that high down the 6 oclock you go from the 60s down to the 50s in philadelphia and then just continues to drop overnight by 11 oclock tonight cecily will have numbers in the 40s for you and by tomorrow morning ill be showing you numbers in the 30s. Thats the way its looking. Your exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, going for that high of execs today. Clouds and sun temperatures falling in the afternoon and winds picking up. Saturday chilly, 46. Starting out with temperatures around the freezing mark both of those mornings and then on sunday evening, clouds get thicker, we get a high of 59 and there is the chance of some showers rolling in and maybe some wet snow north and west of philadelphia.
