She didnt care about gender. She was concerned about being the best firefighter. She was assigned to the fire station and working overtime at engine 73 that responded to that fire. She tried her best to do what she thought, trying to be a hero. Reporter the lawndale married mother of son and daughter lost their life battling a fire in West Oak Lane. The firefighters were in that dark and smoky basement. They pulled back. But craiglewis did not make it. I was telling everybody too, she wanted to be better than the best guy on the job. The Investigation Continues into the first female firefighter death for the city. They will interview her team and inspect her equipment. We assume that the equipment is functioning properly. Its not clear what happened at that moment until there is an investigation. Her locker is a beautiful memorial. She wanted to make sure that the smoke detectors were in less fortunate houses and had a chance, should anything happen. I live across the street.
