I said i dont go on those kinds of dates, blind dates. I said ill go if you go. And frank and his then wife came with me and i met jonathan, he was delightful. Couldnt have been nicer. Anyway, they did find out after some drug tests that he had marijuana and some xanax i think in his system. And not enough alcohol to be legally under the influence. But he is also a minor. So there are lots of issues. You know whats fascinating about this . They took ten they gave way for the public to see ten hours of hanging with the biebs in prison. In jail. They had ten hours. I guess freedom of information act. Yeah. All those everybody wants to know whats going on. All the cameras are rolling. He pleaded not guilty to dui. Resisting arrest and driving with an invalid drivers license. His blood alcohol was below the legal limit, though hes not legal to be drinking at all. But the urine test did find marijuana and xanax in his system. So onward we go. I think once he hits 20 and hes ive got a good feeling. All week long we have been talking about our special series love yourself, a look at how real women view their real bodies. In the world of photoshop, nips, tucks, its hard to be real about what we see in the mirror. We sat down with three ladies, all of whom have conquered their own body image battles and found a way to love their selfies, like you will, after you see this. Im a perfect 10, thank you. I have a favorite dress thats like a 40s, 50s style, i put it on and it is beautiful and i love myself in it. Theres things i love about my body. I love that its unique. I worked really hard to be an athlete. And its part of my history and still part of my body, which is awesome. Definitely growing up, i mean, kids are mean. I just felt like i was surrounded by just these really thin, petite girls and that was what everyone wanted and thats what you should be. One minute i was 8, then a 10 and then a 14. It was a real paradox for me growing up playing sports. Even though i was at peak fitness and felt great on court, i was unbelievably aware of the fact that my legs set me apart from other people and that it wasnt considered conventionally beautiful. It was always the super thin woman was the one that got the love interest. So i have to look like that to have the happy life. We have all these false images of all these people put out in this world like its normal or like its real or like its natural. And it is not. Theyll call Jennifer Aniston an athlete and she looks great. Shes in incredible shape, but an athlete is a much more muscular person. I definitely have those days where im like, oh, im just so gross. Ill catch sight of myself window shopping and see myself in my jeans and just think, oh, my gosh, like, that is not what other people look like. The way you begin to start loving yourself and loving your body is being honest with yourself, with what size you are and what you wear and what you can fit and what you cant fit. I found my body shape, i found my body style and when i do look through magazines, i can appreciate the fashion. I can look at it and say, that wont look good on me. But this one will. And i love me for that. I do really, you know, have to remind myself that having large thighs and a large butt is not the worst thing on earth and it actually makes me different. And makes me better at the sport i love, and that is a really, really good thing. We come in different shapes. We come in different sizes. We come in different colors. But at the end of the day, were all women. We have to just, like, love who we are. And own it. Own it. Own it. Barbara, well let you take your first go at it. What did you do to this house . Well, this is a perfectly pretty house with great lines. But you cant see them because theyre obliterated, whatever that word is, by all the stuff in front. I made some simple changes. I flipped the large and small tree. Got a hole anyway, put it in there. I widened the steps, installed two red double doors with a transom window above. And some brass knockers. Careful. Knockers. What a different house, cleaned up, looks important and you see how pretty that house is. You spent more money than i did. I told i was not allowed to spend too much money. Lets go back to the old house again. Kathie, tell us what you did. Ive got to see the picture. Lets see the picture. I didnt think we were allowed to do major i just cleaned it up a lot. Raked it, and just put more mature i think i put shutters up. Changed the colors. I dont know, just cleaner. But i like what you did, making the door wider. Lets see the split. I like what you did with that. And the winner is the one on the left for sure. Everybody can clearly see. Well, maybe barbara has you on that one. To the next one, shall we . This is it. Barbara, you go. This is a great house. But the only thing that it really has thats great is its modern, its simple, but they totally wrecked it with that window. Its the ugliest window ive ever seen. Which one . The bay window on the righthand side. I converted the bay window to a double door and painted it teal. Put in brass knockers. Again. I converted the old single door to a third window. Because things in three really look nice. And i moved the large bush to the left side of the house. All inexpensive and put an arch over the door and got rid of the horrible beam that was going on. Again, she spent tons more money than i did. What did you do, kathie . No, i did not do those flowers. No, no, no, no, no. I did geraniums, just geraniums. Pretend those are geraniums. Thats what i did. I put window boxes in and i changed the color of the and i did not pick that red door either. Yes, you did. I was in the room. No, not that color red. Not that color red. You picked a cheesy old skinny door like that. I didnt know we could spend that kind of money. You know what i wanted to do it sounds like barbara is winning. No. I understand how the game is played now. Listen, that roof is the biggest problem with this house. The roof has to be made into a cathedral roof, which i was told would cost about 20,000. You cant do it. Lets move on. I said if youre going to make 100,000 more on the sale of your house, do the cathedral ceiling. Next. Competition. Third one, double or nothing. This is it. All my others are cheap too, by the way, now that youre talking money. This one is all driveway. It looks terrible. The only thing nice about this house is that fence. So i painted it light yellow because it wants to be charming like the fence. I added an arch window over the garage. You painted the house bright yellow, not the fence. Painted the house. Thank you for that question. I tore out half the driveway and put in a lawn on the right hand side. That is a charming house now. Lets see what kathie did. I spent about 2,000 again. Cheesy girl. I put in ivy and stuff and window boxes are and why would you that horrible gray color. Its disgusting. Because i ran out of money, barbara well, it looks like barbara won. This was fun. So sorry. And i adapted very easily because i was a child and children tend to adapt more easily. I almost died. So my perspective was always i could have died. So this is nothing. Everythings relative. It is. The reason i wrote the book was to send that message that, you know, you can get through anything. You can any challenges that come your way, as long as there is breath theres life. And you can do anything. Weve been talking about that all week long, attitudes about ourselves and our body image and such. Was that an extremely painful time for you as a young woman going through puberty . Was that the hardest time to just accept yourself . Very difficult. Very, very treacherous. You know, as a teenager you just want to be like everybody else. You know. And i was different. And it was challenging. But i was obsessed with being like everybody else. Interesting. And i think that that obsession is what carried me today to not define myself by my leg. I define myself by my family, my friends, my philanthropy. When i get a pedicure. She gets pedicures on both sets of toes. You were very close to your mom. You talked about how your mom watched kathie lee and regis with your mom. Yes, im so sorry, and you did lose her. And you dedicate your book to her. She struggled really badly with alcoholism, didnt she . Yes, she did. And its such a terrible disease that affects so many of us in our country. If not us personally, we know someone, a friend, a relative. And i think the takeaway is for me that seeing her just, you know, spiral downward so quickly and so horrifically, is that if you know someone whos suffering, make them hit rock bottom quickly, as quickly as possible, so that they can get the help themselves. They have to get help. Otherwise, you know, alcoholism takes your brain away. My mother actually became had dementia toward the end. And alzheimers. Yes. But that was from the alcohol. Yeah.
