Reveals her brave fight against Cervical Cancer. Why she kept it secret for months and why she credits her high profi and moment of impact. A passenger train slams into a fedex truck, slicing the tractor trailer in half. Miraculously no major injuries. The surprising reason behind why it happened. Today, wednesday, january 25th, 2017. Good morning, everyone, welcome to today on a wednesday morning. Natalie is here again why savannah stays on maternity leave. We hope to have her back in the near future. I love that. That video was crazy. Unbelievable. Thank goodness that nobody got hurt. You see that truck completely severed in half. Crazy. Were going h coming up in a little while. Lets get to our top story. President trump is set for what hes calling a big day on national security. It will include the promise to build a wall on the mexican border. Our team has complete coverage. Peter alexander will start things off for us. President trump is putting the power of his Office Behind another major project. New this morning, a Senior Administration official tells nbc news the president will sign an executive order to prioritize the removal of criminal aliens and construct a new barrier along the southern wall with mexico. Prime minister may will be coming over reporter this morning President Trump is taking the first step to fulfill his Signature Campaign promise. I will build a great, great wall on our southern border. Reporter expected to sign an executive order directing the start the construction of a border wall. A Senior Administration official telling nbc news mexico will ultimately pay for the wall. Mr. Trump offering a preview. Tweeting big day planned on national security. We will build the wall. Also breaking overnight the reports of the president s broader immigration plan that includes a four month halt on refugee is. There was growing bipartisan t outrage over his claim of widespread voter fraud. This is going to undermine his ability to govern the country. Sean spicer backing up his boss. Hes believed this for a long House Speaker paul ryan say theres nothing to substantiate his claim. Ive seen no evidence to that effect. If proven it would be a massive crime. Sean spicer said the white house had no current plans for an investigation. The National Association of secretaries of state reaffirming its confidence in the systemic integrity of the election process. Saying its not aware of any evidence supporting President Trumps claims but open to learning more about the administrations concerns. At stake the administrations credibility after a series of claims. Inflating the inaugural crowd side and mr. Trump comparing the Intelligence Community to nazi germany. Claiming the media was to blame. They made it sound like i had a feud with the Intelligence Community. All of overshadow mr. Trumps agenda, including his latest executive orders resurrecting the keystone and dakota pipeline. Both of which president obama opposed. Well build our own pipeline, well build our own pipes. Thats what it has to do with. Like we used to in the old days. Reporter President Trump teeing up one of his most important decisions promising to announce his Supreme Court nominee next week. We have outstanding candidates and well pick a truly great Supreme Court justice. Reporter insiders say the leading contenders are federal Appeals Court judges appointed by george w. Bush. Democrats are gearing up for a fight. Republican leaders insist theyll do whatever it takes to win confirmation for whoever that Supreme Court nominee is. Late tuesday, seemingly out of nowhere mr. Trump took to the horrible carnage going on in his words, referring to that citys homicide rate, quote ill send in the feds. It turns out the president was likely watching fox news that ran a segment on that topic minutes earlier. All right. Thanks. How is the latest news about the border wall playing along the bordered . This is a small piece of the 700 miles of secure border fencing we have in the united states. The rest of the u. S. Mexico border is relatively unprotected. It doesnt have a fence, it has border parole. Mr. Trump has said he wants a border wall. He wants to mexico to pay for it. This part of the fence costs 6. 8 million to make residents around here will tell you they have seen people cb it was a constant refrain we heard during his campaigns. Pop chanting build the wall, build the wall. People in this region, people that live along the border that we have spoken to say they dont think a border wall will be particularly effective unneless its patrolled. This fence is straight into mexico. People can climb over this in about 20 seconds. But it remains to be seen how much an actual border wall will cost. Estimates are 8 billion to 10 billion right now. Donald trump saying he wants mexico to pay for it. Mexico saying they are not going to help with these costs. Back to you. Thank you. Ari melber is here with todays fact check after the Trump Administration doubled down on that debunked claim that 3 million to 5 Million People illegally voted in the last thats right. Monday President Trump telling congressional leaders he lost the popular vote because of the allegedly illegal votes. Sean spicer said a 2008 study by the Pugh Research center supported the claim that a High Percentage of people were noncitizens. We can tell you this morning, both those claims are false. According to the findings of authorities. There was no major voter fraud in this election. Thats typical. Its rare for people to take the personal risk of breaking the law to vote when theyre not authorized. Republican and democratic officials oversee voting in all 50 states. They responded to the latest claims reiterating theres no evidence that supports the voter fraud claims made by President Trump. What about the one specific study mr. Spicer mentioned . Its not entirely clear which he was referring to. What spicer was said a study out of pew in 2008. There was a pew accuracy of government voting records, not voter fraud from 2012. Finding 24 million records were inaccurate because voters died or had been inactive. The paper records are not evidence of fraud. When aides wrongly claimed back in november the study showed there was fraud. There author stressed his report had no findings about fraud. He spoke out again tuesday saying theres zero evidence of fraud in the latest election. In the past team trump has cited a 2008 survey that found 14 of noncitizens telling pollsters they voted in 2008 and 2010. That survey did not prove in person voter fraud either. In any event it was in 2010, not about this 2016 election. Bottom line trump and his aides have reason to know all of this evidence and reason to know they are currently mischaracterizing it. That makes the repetition of these falsehoods stated with the authority of the u. S. Government all the the scope of the allegations would seem to warrant an investigation. The white house wont rule that out but says there isnt one right now. Thats the most concerning part. Move aside from the fact check and say, here you have the government representative saying there were three to five million crimes occurred and at the same time theyre not going to investigate or prosecute them. Thats an inconsistency thats very hard to square. Thank you very much. Good to have you here. As we said President Trump is promising to nominate a new Supreme Court justice next week. Nbcs Steve Kornacki has a closer look at three names in the running. Lets talk first about what is going to need to happen in order to push through his nominee and what kind of fight can President Trump expect from democrats . The fight over the fight. You have the rule in the senate traditionally the filibuster if the Opposition Party doesnt like the president s pick they can force you to get 60 votes. Theres been chipping away on that by the democrats. Now heres a hint that mount a filibuster, maybe theyll go all the way, change the rules again, destroy the filibuster, bottom line if they want to do that they can. Lets talk about the names well be hearing a lot about. Weve got three here that nbc is kind of focused in on. We think trump may be down to these three. William pryor. He was the attorney general of alabama. If you look at the pros and cons here. There we go. Here we go. First of all this is what the right has been waiting for. The left a seat vacant for the entire campaign. This guy very out spoken on social issues. On a scale of one to ten, this fight would be an 11. Theres all sorts of ammunition here for democrats to go after. This would rile up democrats to say the least. Neil gorsuch. A little bit of his background. What are the pros and cons trump might be li he shares the philosophy but not the temperment. A third possibility thomas hardman, a federal judge. You can look at his background in turns of what he might be looking for. He drove a taxi in college, did not go to the ivy league. A different route than we usually see. They might be interested in that story. Theres the idea of a stealth factor. A little bit less of a paper trail here. That makes conservatives nervous. They want to know one of their own is on the court for the long time. Nicely done, thank you very much. President trump is tweeting about the voter fraud issue saying i will be asking for a Major Investigation into voter fraud to vote in two states. Action from the president even as we were talking about it just a couple minutes ago. A quick note, greta van s t susteren is interviewing paul ryan. Tuesday we show you video of dayton collapsing. The governor announced he has been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and will undergo either radiation or surgery. Doctors say the collapse was not related to the cancer. Dayton says he plans to finish the final two years of his term. He turns 70 tomorrow. Forget the flu this year, the bug to avoid is the noro virus. Outbreaks across the event are bringing misery to millions of families and forcing some schools to close. Tom costello has more on that story for us. Good morning, nice you. Welcome back. Not a very good morning though for a lot of folks nationwide who are sick in bed this morning. Infectious disease experts say the noro virus is the hardiest bugs known. It spreads fast in places where people share close quarters. Hospitals, cruise ships and schools. The systems are enough to send you to bed for days. Vomiting diarrhea, stomach pain. Sometimes fever and body aches. This morning the noro virus is spreading misery across the country. Some moms dealing with multiple kids sick at the same time. My middle child had it saturday. Sunday my older one had it and tuesday after school my youngest one got it for the second time. In one chicago high school, more than a thousand students and 50 teachers caught the virus in just a few days. Classes canceled. Out breaks in rhode island causing several schools to close to disinfect class rooms. Often called stomach flu its not related to the influenza virus but it is highly contagious. If youre near someone who is vomiting, the person vomiting creates an aerosuolaerosol. Youll get sick 2448 hours later. Experts say the virus can live on surfaces like bedding and countertops making it tougher to fight. The best defenses are the most basic. Frequent hand washing with soap and water. Hand sanitizers are not enough. Disinfect with a bleach based cleaner and watch linens and towels. If you feel sick stay home. Noro virus can be deadly the main risk is dehydration, most people recover after a few miserable days. The cdc says the increase in noro virus cases is typical for winter. On average there are 19 to theres not enough data to know whether this season is especially bad. If you or someone in your family has caught it you know how unpleasant it can be. Its the worst thing youve ever had. Its so contagious. Stay where you are. It was long time ago. But its the worst. Reporter police in utah have reas dash cam video showing the moment a train slammed into a fedex truck. The train just missed the trucks cab. Fortunately there were no serious injuries. The crossing arms were not down at the time the lights were not flashing. So there are indications that snow and ice may have caused the system to fail. The accident under investigation. You notice the arms come down immediately after that truck gets hit. Thats crazy. Wow. All right. Al is here with our first check mr. Roker good morning. Good morning, were talking more snow. Lets show you right now the snow in south dakota. This is near nebraska, the nebraska minnesota, border and, boy, it is coming down. Tractor trailers, all kinds of passenger cars getting stuck. People just having a real mess. You can look at the swath of snow stretching from south dakota into wisconsin. This is going to be making its way to the east later on today and on into tomorrow. We do look for snow moving into the great lakes today. Gusty winds along this path. Once this continues to pull out. Its going to start to cause major snow problems for the great lakes. Especially lake effect snow because theres about 6 of the lake covered by ice. Theres plenty of moisture available through the great lakes tonight from cadillac ifor to six inches of snow. Thery may get two feet of snow or more through sunday. That is going to be a real mess. Were going to get to your local forecast coming up in the next 30 seconds.
