So if youre going to be out and about this morning, the cross streets getting through were on 22nd so that can get through. But lancaster parkway is all blocked off. Avoid this area if you can. Also people can get down to welcome america. One of the events today is the ceremonial passing of the liberty bell. One of the new attractions this year the road to rio exhibit. Its comprised of two trailers. We got you some video of the exterior. Theyre parked at 20th street on the parkway. Its to boost excitement about the 2016 Olympic Games that will be held in rio. Theres a green screen photo ops. Make it look like youre jumping into an olympic pool. It opens today at 11 00, closes at 7 00. It will be packed up and then head to san diego. The delaware beaches are also a popular destination this weekend. 70,000 drivers are expected to pass through the tolls on state route 1. The main road to the beaches. That number of drivers is up from last year possibly because of cheaper gas. Other folks will be spending some time in the pocono mountains for the Holiday Weekend. Investigators say the man called 911 from his car threatening to kill himself and police. Two officers found the vehicle unoccupied near the intersection of bergen and harrison avenues. As the officers exited their patrol car, the suspect approached them with a loaded gun. The officers fired stopping the man and killing him. Both officers have been placed on administrative duty penting an outcome of an investigation. In north philadelphia, police are investigating a double shooting that left two men injured. It happened at erie and germantown aes. Both victims were taken to the hospital. One is stable the other critical. No word yet on a motive or a suspect. A fight in University City ended in a shooting just outside of a dormitory in the heart of penns campus. Police say two groups were arguing at a nearby bar at 45th and stanton streets at 2 00 a. M. A man in a car with maryland plates opened fire. Two men aged 29 and 32 were injured. Both went to the hospital. Authorities tell us the victims returned fire with guns they were legally carrying. The university of Pennsylvania Police were identified about the shooting first. Then philly police. So far there are no arrests. Three people questioned by Philadelphia Police in the murder of an 85yearold woman are no longer in custody. Yesterday investigators returned the victims car to her driveway. The victim has been identified as regina brunner. It was stolen monday after brunner was killed inside her home. Police found the car abandoned in philadelphia on tuesday. Officers also found her computer at a house on west oak lane. Police in Montgomery County want you to take a look at this bank robber. He wore a jacket and tie yesterday morning. He also wore a bucket hat, sunglasses, and a red scarf. He was carrying a gun. He got away with an unknown amount of cash. Allentown Officials Say they are cooperating fully with the fbi after a raid on city hall. Federal agents seized several documents from the building yesterday and questioned the mayor as part of a grand jury investigation. The city Spokesman Says he believes allentowns contracting process is under review. He issued a statement saying leaders acted properly at all times. We also reached out to the mayor for comment but have yet to hear back. This morning there is reassuring news for Atlantic City as it fights to keep a stronghold on the garden state. Theres flom chance voters will be asked about whether to allow casinos in north jersey. There are proposals for casinos in East Rutherford and newark. But state constitution would have to be amended to allow outside of Atlantic City. He is 98 sure the question will not be on the November Ballot because of that reason. The time now is 5 38. Well have details throughout the newscast. Now to a digital exclusive story. Tomorrow will mark one year since a massive fire gutted a street in southwest philadelphia. The gesner street blaze claimed the lives of four Young Children and left nearly half the block in charred shambles. Much of that construction remains today. The fire started on a couch on the porch of one of the row homes last july 5th. The flames quickly spread down the block forcing residents to jump from their windows. Four Young Children could not escape. Nbc 10s digital team returned to the block to see how neighbors are coping with the disaster. The home rest main standing but burned out and boarded up. And the smell of burned debris is still in the air. Neighbors like Tyrone Watson who you see right there tell us that they feel abandoned by the landlords who own the homes and they feel abandoned by the city. As much as you tell us youre accomplishing something and you walk out your door and you see this its like youre not getting anywhere. What can we do . You know . We expect our city to do something. But i believe the city is you know giving the owners a chance to do their part. In other nussews this morning, a Russian Rocket launched yesterday carrying muchneeded water, food spare parts, and experimental equipment. The iss crew was anxiously awaiting it after three prior supply missions failed. Last sunday a u. S. Supply Mission Failed when spacex broke apart shortly after liftoff. Last october, another private companys rocket blew up. And in april a russian ship with 300 tons of supply was lost in orbit. Popular tourist attraction turns into a trap for some visitors in orlando. The 400 foot ferris wheel known as the eye in the sky got stuck in the sky. The wheel stopped moving yesterday trapping everybody in the stifling heat. It took about three hours to rescue all of the riders. Everybody got off safely. A power glitch caused a malfunction. Officials say one of the shells exploded inside of its case causing the others to tip over and fire into the crowd. Organizers end bed the show after the accident. If you take a look at the shore, you will notice they stay around the shore but were not seeing a lot of rainfall around our shore communities. Thats good news.
