Reporter when that boy arrived here late tuesday night in grave condition, the result police say of a brutal beating received at the hand of his mothers boyfriend, all of it over a piece of cake. With his mother at work on tuesday, the boy was left at this apartment in the care of his uncle and his mothers boyfriend robert leroy wilson. According to court documents, when wilson caught the boy stealing cake, he cuffed his hands and beat the defenseless child until he was unresponsive and stiff. The boys uncle took the cuffs off and called 911. To have a 9yearold in the condition hes in now because an adult literally beat him into that condition is traumatic. Its marched on all of us to hard on all of us to deal with those things. Reporter a neighbor said nothing about wilson stood out when they chatted about motorcycles in the parking lot. Seemed like a normal everyday guy, didnt seem like the person that would do. This. Reporter but living next door to the family he did have one strong memory about the boy. The kid cried a lot, so i dont know. Reporter when the boy was examined, doctors found healing injuries with the new wounds. It tells us from our investigation now were looking at something a little more long term. Reporter there is one other disturbing element to report in this case. Police say when the paramedics first arrived at this home, the mother was there and she turned them away saying herring son didnt need medical attention at all. He was just congested, but after the boy didnt regain consciousness for another four hours the adults in the home changed their mind and called 911 a second time. Police are still investigating.
