An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced a 19-year-old man Evans Asante to 22 years imprisonment in hard labour for robbery.
Evans Asante, who also stabbed his victim, Prince Senyogah in the back and left wrist, robbed him of his cellular phone and a laptop computer.
He pleaded guilty to causing harm and robbery and was sentenced accordingly.
Prosecution told the Court presided over by Madam Adelaide Abui Keddey that on April 2, 2021, at about 0145 hours, a Police Patrol Team during its routine patrols chanced on Senyogah lying in the middle of the road near the National Theatre. ....

A 19-year-old man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison by an Accra Circuit Court for stabbing a student in Accra.
Evans Asante also made away with the student’s mobile phone and backpack containing a laptop after the assault, the court heard.
The court, presided over by Ms Adelaide Abui Keddey, convicted Asante after he pleaded guilty to two counts of causing harm contrary to section 69 of the Criminal Offences (Act 29), and robbery contrary to section 149 of Act 29.
What happened
The court heard that at about 1:45 a.m. on April 2, 2021, a police patrol team on routine duties chanced on the victim, Prince Senyogah, with two stab wounds on his back and left wrist while he was lying in the middle of the road near the National Theatre in Accra. ....

A young man, named Divine Puplampu has narrated how his dying close relative who is currently in coma was left to die when the big hospitals in Accra all refused to admit him for treatment.
According to the young man, the hospitals refused to admit his relative citing shortage of hospital beds in some of the hospitals and also, covid-19 fumigation exercise ongoing at other hospitals.
In a lengthy Facebook post sighted by this portal, Divine indicated that he called all the provided phone numbers on Ghana Health Service and Ministry of Health official websites in order to see if he can get a recommendation to a hospital where beds are available. All these, according to Divine went in vain as his calls went unpicked. ....

Vodafone Foundation Donates PPE To Accra Regional Hospital During Christmas


 
Vodafone Ghana Foundation has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to the Accra Regional Hospital as part of efforts to protect frontline health workers in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The items, which were donated during the festive period, include sets of face shields, boxes of N95 facemasks, surgical gloves, hand sanitizers, and rubbing alcohol.
Speaking during the presentation, Amaris Nana Perbi, Vodafone Ghana Foundation Lead, said:
“We value the priceless role that our country s frontline health workers are playing in the fight against COVID-19. The donation is in line with the Foundation’s commitment to ensure that health workers will be safe during and after the festive season. We deemed it important to equip them with PPE and essential medical supplies whilst celebrating them this Christmas season.” ....
