Irish Water, working in partnership with Clare County Council, is carrying out water main improvement work between Mullagh and Milltown Malbay.
This work involves the installation of 4.7km of new water main to replace old mains which were bursting frequently. This will result in a more secure and reliable water supplies for local residents and businesses as well as a number of Group Water Schemes supplied from the public mains.
This works got underway in October and are expected to be completed by the end of June.
In order to progress this essential work, there may be disruption to water supplies in the area next week during the following times:

Doonbeg wastewater treatment plant has now been selected for upgrade as part of the Small Towns and Villages Growth Programme.
This investment in the local wastewater infrastructure will provide additional capacity for the development of new homes, while ensuring that wastewater continues to be treated to an appropriate standard.
Elaine Heneghan, Irish Water’s Regional Forward Planning Specialist, said: “We are pleased to confirm that this important project to improve wastewater treatment capacity in town/village has been given the green light. This will bring big benefits to the area by ensuring the infrastructure is in place to meet the needs of the village as it continues to grow.

Galway Bay FM Newsroom – People in the Briarhill and Doughiska areas of the city have been advised by Irish Water and Galway City Council that their supply of water will be affected for most of today after a watermain burst on the Monivea Road, near the Clayton hotel.
The burst occurred during the night and approximately 800 properties in the Briarhill and Doughiska areas are affected.
It is likely water supply will be off until 5pm but it may take 2-3 hours for normal supply to return.
A crew is on the way and are arranging traffic management for the repair.
