Residents of the South Taranaki town of Pateā are frustrated with the number of unexpected cuts to the town s power supply, with residents demanding answers from electricity supplier Powerco.
Powerco confirmed to the Chronicle on Friday that there had been 11 outages across the township over the last 14 days, with the cause of them ranging from high winds to blown fuses and equipment failure. ....

Whanganui rural residents have growing concerns over the quality of internet that is available to them.
A 2020 survey by economic development agency Whanganui & Partners and the Whanganui Rural Community Board found 77 per
cent of farmers had access to some form of internet, but 73.3 per cent of them reported having download speeds under 10Mbps. ....

MOUNDS, Ill. (KFVS) - A deadline for the City of Mounds had residents wondering if their water was going to be shut off.
Due to an outstanding bill, the city needed to reach an agreement before March 10 with Southwater, Inc., their water provider, or the city would be without water.
Mounds Mayor Rita Flummer felt some weight lifted off of her shoulders.
She said they signed the agreement with the water company March 9.
“When this is all done we will go forward with our regular monthly bills right now just go forward like this had never happened,” said Flummer. ....

Hundreds of thousands of marine life are dead and Waipū residents are being driven out of their homes by a stench described as rotten eggs and dead bodies believed to be caused by recurring algal
bloom.
What s more, a wildlife refuge within the affected area is an integral feeding zone for protected bird species.
The Waipū estuary lagoon, south of Johnson s Point, has been described as a dead zone with lifeless marine species including eels, fish and plants. What remains alive are said to be beaching themselves, gasping for breath in an attempt to escape the black oxygen-depleted waters, believed to be from trapped and rotting algal bloom. ....
