Smart mini-lockdown enforced in parts of District West

Authorities have imposed a smart mini-lockdown in two sub-divisions of District West as Covid-19 cases continue to rise in the city. On recommendations of the district health officer of District West, the West deputy commissioner imposed a smart mini-lockdown on streets and localities of specified areas in the Mominabad and Orangi Town sub-divisions for a period of two weeks from December 29, 2020, to January 11, 2021, under the Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act, 2014, read a notification.
The areas of the Orangi Town sub-division where the smart mini-lockdown has been enforced include Gabol Colony, DataNagar and Mujahidabad. In the Mominabad sub-division, the smart mini-lockdown has been imposed in Hanifabad Colony, Madina Colony and Bilal Colony. ....

The novel coronavirus has claimed 32 more lives in Sindh, with the majority of deaths occurring at health facilities in Karachi, during the last 24, raising the death toll to 3,302 in the province.
As many as 1,903 more people tested positive for the infectious disease when 20,681 tests were conducted, the highest number of tests conducted in a single day, raising the number of positive cases in Sindh to 202,983, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said in his daily Covid-19 situation report on Friday.
He said the fatality rate dropped to 1.6 per cent in Sindh with 32 deaths overnight despite the growing number of deaths on a daily basis, adding that the national fatality rate stood at two per cent, while the global rate of 2.23 per cent. ....

KARACHI: The Sindh government on Thursday decided to close all madressahs across the province which continued their educational activities despite closure of other educational institutions, including schools, colleges, universities and coaching and training centres, in a move to contain spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
A notification issued by the Sindh home department said that the orders were put in place “with immediate effect” and asked all the relevant district administrations and law enforcement agencies to ensure its implementation. However, unlike schools, colleges and other educational institutions, the authorities have not mentioned any time frame for the closure of the madressahs in the province. ....

Due to concerns over the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Sindh, the home department has ordered immediate suspension of all educational activities at madrasas across the province.
According to the notification issued by the home department, while exercising its powers under Section 3(1) of the Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act, the government has ordered immediate suspension of all educational activities at madrasas across the province.
Section 3(1) empowers the secretary of the Sindh Auqaf & Religious Affairs Department and the divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners to issue further orders, directions and notices to put this order into effect and issue further clarification for implementation. ....

Authorities have imposed a smart mini-lockdown in Karachiâs three districts as COVID-19 cases have reached all-time high in the city.
According to the Commissioner Office, a smart mini-lockdown has been imposed in District West, District Keamari and District Central on Thursday for two weeks.
On recommendations of the district health officer of District West regarding micro hotspots of the spread of Covid-19, the West deputy commissioner imposed a smart mini-lockdown on streets and localities of specified areas in Manghopir and Orangi Town subdivision for a period of two weeks from December 18 to December 31 till 7pm under powers conferred by the Sindh Epidemic Diseases Act, 2014. ....
