Delhi HC issues notice to Centre, EC on plea seeking compulsory masking during poll campaigns

New Delhi [India], April 8 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Thursday issued a notice to the Centre and Election commission (EC) on a plea seeking direction to ensure that masks are worn during rallies and campaigns during the ongoing Assembly elections to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The bench of Justice DN Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh sought a response from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and EC in the matter and slated the matter for hearing on April 30.
The plea sought direction to the poll body to publish prominently on its website, mobile apps, election materials and other platforms the Election Commission Guidelines for the conduct of general elections/bye-elections during COVID-19 published in August 2020. ....

New Delhi, April 8 : As more than 100 hours have passed with CRPF commando Rakeshwar Singh Manhas still in Maoist custody , the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), in close coordination with the Chhattisgarh government, has been scrutinising names of independent interlocutors whom the ultras will trust to arrange his release.
Among the names under discussion include a few journalists, who have deep approach to the rebels, some NGO members involved in civic operations in Bastar region for years and some former government officials who have worked in the region and helped in safe surrenders of ultras before the government. ....

First time in J&K's history no physical shifting of files, records during 'Darbar Move'

To minimize financial burden of the annual Darbar Move practice on the state exchequer, the J&K government, first time in history, has decided to shun the requirement of physical movement of files and records from Jammu to Srinagar and vice-versa.
Ironically in the era of technology, the cash-starved J&K government, every year, spends a whopping amount of Rs 200 crores on Darbar Move by hiring hundreds of trucks to carry files from one capital to another.
This time authorities have clearly mentioned that only 10 trucks will be engaged, that too, shifting highly sensitive and confidential files. A clear direction has been given to all administrative heads to digitalize all files by April 15, 2021. ....
