2 killed, 3 injured in Mymensingh road accident

At least two people were killed and three others were injured in a road accident between a bus and a CNG run auto-rickshaw in Rashidpur area of Mymensingh Sadar upazila. The deceased were identified as, Babul Mia (42) and Ripon Mia (30), both of whom were from Mohanganj upazila of Netrakona, reports our Mymensingh correspondent. 'Strict lockdown': Mymensingh police subsidising iftar packets for sale to low-income people

He said the policemen will bear the expenses for serving iftar items from their salaries.
Since the lockdown started, daily bread earners especially rickshaw- and van-pullers and day labourers have fallen into serious financial crisis and it is beyond the capability of many to afford iftar, said the police official.
He said the packet of iftar items which includes fried rice, grapes, banana, jilapi and other spicy items costs Tk 62, but the beneficiaries can buy it for Tk 5.
The iftar packets will be distributed at different spots of the city daily, said the SP.

Police have arrested four people in connection with the rape of a woman in Dhaka s Savar.
The arrests were made during a raid at a house in Savar municipality area this morning, our Savar correspondent reports quoting Savar Model Police Station Inspector (investigation) Saiful Islam.
The arrestees are Md Rubel Ahmmed (40), Md Firoz Talukder (36), Md Sumon Hossain (24) and his wife Nilufa Akhter (21).
According to the written complaint, two people along with Rubel and Firoz entered the woman s flat, raped her and threatened her against disclosing the matter yesterday noon. ....
