THAILAND: The Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) abruptly submitted a draft purchase contract for the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to the Office of Attorney General (OAG) yesterday (July 2) after the latter publicly stated it never received the contract.

The move came as the government came under further fire over its failure to procure sufficient vaccines as the number of new cases continued to soar, with more than 6,000 cases and 61 fatalities confirmed yesterday.
The Centre for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) said that the number of new cases is expected to rise further next week. ....

The Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) abruptly submitted a draft purchase contract for the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine to the Office of Attorney General (OAG) on Friday after the latter publicly stated it never received the contract.
In a statement, the OAG dismissed media reports saying the draft procurement contract for the Moderna vaccine was still under review by the office.
The statement came after GPO director Vitoon Danwiboon s June 23 comments saying the GPO would soon submit the draft to the OAG. ....

I got a text this morning from Memorial to call and register for Moderna in October. Called and they want me to go there and pay ฿2,000 now to get on the list. I explained as patiently as I could that I m happy to pay when they actually have vaccine on the shelves, but not when they not only don t
have any, but don t really know when they ll
get any. That was as far as I got.

When I think I m starting to understand Thai s, they throw one of these at me.

The Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM) is urging the government to allow private institutions to procure their own Covid-19 vaccines to speed up the inoculation process and achieve early herd immunity.
Speaking at a virtual event titled “Efficient Covid vaccination rollout in Asean”, APHM president Dr Kuljit Singh said private hospitals have yet to be granted permission by the government to procure vaccines on their own due to the global shortage of jabs and equity concerns.
“We have made many requests to the government that in order to get early herd immunity, the private sector should be allowed to procure its own vaccines,” he said, adding that the procurement process should start as soon as possible to secure vaccines given the short supply. ....
