Basic materials stocks were trading in the positive zone, with the S&P BSE Basic Materials index rising 37.87 points or 1.03% at 3725.24 at 09:48 IST.
Among the components of the S&P BSE Basic Materials index, Fineotex Chemical Ltd (up 8.14%), Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd (up 7.01%),Tata Steel Long Products Ltd (up 4.95%),Orient Paper & Industries Ltd (up 4.78%),West Coast Paper Mills Ltd (up 4.61%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Pennar Industries Ltd (up 4.59%), Sanghi Industries Ltd (up 3.84%), National Fertilizer Ltd (up 3.81%), Rain Industries Ltd (up 3.79%), and Tata Metaliks Ltd (up 3.58%).
On the other hand, Pokarna Ltd (down 4.99%), Anant Raj Ltd (down 3.74%), and Greenpanel Industries Ltd (down 3%) moved lower. ....

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the valedictory function of the second National Youth Parliament Festival on January 12 via video conferencing.

Odisha CM announces Rs 92.37 crore financial assistance for kendu workers

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen
Patnaik has announced financial assistance of Rs 92.37 crore for the welfare of kendu leaf pluckers and other workers associated with it.
The chief minister made the announcement while reviewing the welfare of the people, mostly tribals, engaged in kendu leaf activities on Monday.
Of the total amount, Rs 59.78 crore will be disbursed as bonus, he said.
Since 2014, the state government has made provision for giving bonus to the people engaged in kendu leaf trade, which comes from the profit made, the chief minister said.
Patnaik also announced that the exgratia in case of the death or permanent disability of a kendu leaf worker would be increased to Rs 2 Lakh from Rs 1 Lakh. ....

Commissions Interesterification plant and 3rd unit of Bakery Shortening plant at Bhiwandi factoryAjanta Soya has commissioned Interesterification plant of 125 TPD capacity and 3rd unit of its Bakery Shortening plant of 35 TPD capacity. This expansion will meet the increased demand of Company s premium brands of Bakery Shortening Variants.
