dallas you will feel like 109 latertering all summer line. there could be severe weather in paducah, memphis and toward nashville as storms will fire in the morning hours to the west, continuing from the overnight hours that we saw showers yesterday and then slide off to the east through the deep south and also in toward the mid south. this is the area that will see the significance weather around 5:00, 6:00, paducah, memphis and the like and then moving on again from west to east for the rest of the evening. some spots will have four inches of rainfall in these areas. there could be large hail with this. but there is the rainfall. the 4 inch swathe. so we know that there will be a significant threat there of some flash flooding in places that pick up that 4 to possibly even 6 inches of rainfall in the heaviest of thunderstorms. we'll have to keep watching that. new video just in as the wildfires in hawaii, you are looking at maui right now, but

record record-breaking heat. you're looking at a lot of areas dealing with this. along the gulf coast, it's the temperatures and the humidity that creates the feels-like temperature, the heat index. already right now it feels like 109 in corpus christi, 106 in houston, 108 in new orleans, in tampa it feels like 106 right now. to the west, also still very hot. many of these places 5 to 10 degrees above average. tomorrow and monday we're looking at at least a hundred locations that could end up breaking record highs. some of them could do it all three days in a row. it's more the prolonged heat that's been a big concern. the few places that aren't dealing with extreme heat are the areas getting showers right

southern plains with a few outliers in the east coast. temperatures will feel like 110 in houston this afternoon. 113 in baton rouge. 112 in shreveport. 109 in new orleans. so, just incredibly hot and temperatures are going to stay above average throughout much of south. below average temperatures taking hold across the northern rockies and the northern plains. high temperatures in the west staying hot. phoenix, 107 today could be the first day that we have stayed below 110 in 31 days. if you can believe it. so, really seeing a brief break from the heat, by only a couple of degrees. but then it doesn't last long. temperatures soar right back up above 110 for the remainder of the week, omar. so it is going to be a brutal week ahead even though the numbers quite aren't as large but still very oppressive heat across the same areas. >> wow.
