CARSON CITY — During Wednesday’s public federal Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) meeting, the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services says it learned that a Nevadan was one of the six reported serious reactions to the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine.
The state of Nevada was not informed of the reported reaction until the live, public meeting on Wednesday, according to the Nevada Health Response team. At that time, it was reported that the person in Nevada is an 18-year-old woman who reported a blood clot and a hemorrhage without an immediate word of recovery.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Some bikers are asking for an explanation after a large bike ride around downtown Las Vegas ended with some of them, including minors, in handcuffs and a clash with police officers.
The movement, they call the "BikeLife," has been steadily growing through social media, especially Instagram, amid the pandemic.
"We've been doing this for two years and since COVID hit, that's when a lot of people were buying bikes and coming outside," explained Roman "Chop" Delrosario who operates the Instagram account for Team Seven.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The state unemployment department reports its website is still experiencing a few errors when it comes to accepting Unemployment Insurance claims.
Thursday, the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) sent out a note stating previous issues affecting some UI claimants were still occurring.
The department also says it continues to work to resolve the problems as quickly as possible and expects the issue to be resolved in time for next week’s claim filing.

Those who receive veterans benefits should be getting up to $1,400 dollars starting this week.
The latest round of payments applies specifically to veterans and their beneficiaries who receive Compensation and Pension benefits and who don't normally file a tax return.
For most, money will be deposited electronically.
Paper checks should be received over the next several days.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Cosmopolitan hotel-casino on the Las Vegas Strip has committed to paying up to $1 million in cash bonuses if 80% of its workforce receives their first dose by May 1.
The resort sent the following statement:
In response to the Nevada Gaming Control Board’s clear direction to gaming companies to accelerate the vaccination of its workforce, effective April 13, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas will launch the next phase of its COVID-19 vaccination plan as a continuation of the resort’s ongoing health and safety measures. To incentivize employees to receive the vaccine as soon as possible, the resort will commit to pay upwards of $1M in total cash bonuses should 80% of the workforce receive their first dose by May 1. Employees who have yet to receive the vaccine are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the resort’s free onsite vaccination clinic. Employees who choose not to get the vaccine will be required to test weekly.

NEVADA (KTNV) — The Nevada Health Response team issued a statement on Tuesday after a pause was recommended by the FDA and CDC for the Johnson & Johnson COVID vaccine.
"The State of Nevada is committed to protecting the health and safety of all Nevadans and will pause the use of the Janssen one-shot vaccine until the review is complete. The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and the Nevada State Immunization Program are contacting providers to inform them of this announcement and working to avoid any disruption of planned vaccination clinics."

“As a mom of four and a parent to teens, they have busy schedules, they have school, we’re looking for convenience,” says Brock. “Everything always runs behind, it’s a few hours time to commit for one child at a time.”
