Dewitt Police Identify Dead Man Found Near Carrier Circle Friday

Town of Dewitt, N.Y. - Dewitt Police are releasing the name of the person who was found dead by the Speedway near Carrier Circle Friday.
35 year old Mark Owens of Cicero was discovered in a swampy area near the Speedway and not far from the car wash on Thompson Road.
Police say they are waiting for results on the cause of death.
They are asking that is anyone has any information or had any contact with Owens since April 1st, to contact them.

Infant Killed, Two Children Injured In Strathmore Shooting

An baby girl is dead and two children remain hospitalized following a shooting in Syracuse's Strathmore neighborhood.
Police were called to the shooting just before 7 Sunday night on Grant Avenue. The infant was killed, and two other girls, ages 4 and 7, were both taken to the hospital. Syracuse Police officials will be holding a press briefing on the shooting later Monday.

Syracuse City Schools Prepare To Welcome Back More Students In Classrooms

The Syracuse City School District will be resuming in-person classes for more students Monday.
Kindergarten through fifth grade students are going to be in school five days a week. Children in grades six through eight has the choice of four-and-a-half days of in-person instruction, followed by a half-day of remote learning.

Three Injured Following Weekend Violence In Syracuse

Three people were injured following a series of violent incidents in Syracuse over the weekend.
Police were called to both a shooting on the city's Eastside and a stabbing on S Salina St around 1:30 Saturday morning.
Later that evening, another man was found shot in the back near First North St on the city's Northside. All three victims sustained non-life threatening injuries.

NY Sending Vaccines To Colleges and Universities

Albany, N.Y. - New York is launching an effort that aims to get college kids the coronavirus vaccine before they leave for summer break. Governor Andrew Cuomo was at Suffolk County Community College to announce the plan, noting the SUNY network of schools will take the lead.
The governor says this will directly focus on people ages 18-to-24, arguing while younger people typically deal with less-severe COVID symptoms, they still factor into herd immunity.
Cuomo also reports an increased testing-positivity rate for the younger age demographic, saying that's risen from nine-percent to up around 14-percent.

Syracuse Man Steals About $10,000 From Home Depots Using Fake Barcodes

Syracuse, N.Y. - State Police have arrested a Syracuse man for stealing from area Home Depots, 28 times.
Trooper says 37-year-old Jeffrey Gordon created barcodes for lower dollar amounts, and scanned the fake barcodes at the self-checkout, paying the lower prices.
They found that Gordon did this 28 times at various Home Depot stores including, Dewitt, Camillus, Clay, Cicero, Auburn, and Watertown.
The total amount of theft is estimated to be $10,000.

Cortland County Man Points Gun At Kids

McGraw, N.Y. - A Cortland County man has been arrested after pointing a gun at three children.
Police were called to McGraw Elementary school for a domestic investigation. They learned 30-year-old Bronson Marshall pointed a gun at three children while he was at a home in the Village of McGraw.
He was arraigned and released.
