Fred Grandy Will Star in GIVE 'EM HELL, HARRY! at Redhouse Arts Center

Redhouse Arts Center has just announced the addition of a one man show for one weekend only. Give ‘Em Hell, Harry! by Samuel Gallu, will star Redhouse favorite Fred Grandy (from the beloved “Love Boat” and former United States Representative from Iowa) and also marks the Redhouse return of Tony Award nominee Hunter Foster who will direct the show. The shows will take place for one weekend only beginning, Friday January 28th and running through Sunday, January 30th only. Grandy, a self-professed fan of the 33rd President, will step into Truman’s shoes for this one-act reprise of the 1975 Samuel Gallu play featuring the wit and wisdom of Harry Truman that will present like a historical cabaret.

Redhouse names Temar Underwood as Associate Director of Artistic Programming

Syracuse, NY -- Redhouse Arts Center has named Actor and Director Temar Underwood as its Associate Director of Artistic Programming. This interim position will allow Redhouse to be able to continue virtual theater programming until it can welcome back live audiences and launch a full Main Stage season again.
Mr Underwood will be act as an Artistic Lead on virtual theatrical programming as well as programming in conjunction with Redhouse’s Education Department and partner organizations. Samara Hannah Executive Director commented, “Temar was recently named an Associate Artist at Redhouse and we are thrilled to engage him further. He has always been a favorite of our audiences as an actor and director and has earned the respect of his peers and those he has directed. We look forward to working with him in the coming months to bring programming to our supporters as we wait for a time when we can get back to live performances.”

Artistic Director Hunter Foster Exits Redhouse Arts Center as Theatre Pauses Operations


Home, canceled. The Redhouse board recently convened and decided to suspend the artistic director position until conditions for live stage performances improve. There is a chance Foster may resume his role when audiences can safely return.
Executive Director Samara Hannah said in a statement, “Redhouse is honored to have had Hunter Foster lead its theatre program for the past two years. These are very challenging times and most challenging for the performing arts. We remain optimistic as we look to continue working with Foster during the interim as well as the possibilities of working together in the future.”
Foster added, “I’ve had the honor and privilege to be the artistic director for Redhouse these past few years. It was my dream job, and we accomplished a lot of great things here. My wife and I fell in love with Syracuse and the community, and we can’t thank them enough for their support. It’s disappointing that I won’t be able to finish the job that I started, but I know Redhouse has an incredible future ahead of it. I am also excited about independently producing theatre on my own with my production company. With vaccines on the way, I am hopeful live performances will return in 2021, and I definitely will be a part of it.”

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The Redhouse Arts Center has put its theater operations on pause for the “foreseeable future” because of the coronavirus pandemic and suspended its artistic director position until live stage performances can resume.
The center said in a statement Tuesday that it has “made the difficult decision to pause its theater operations for the foreseeable future.” As a result, its artistic director, Broadway veteran Hunter Foster, will be leaving the organization in early January 2021, it said.
