World No Tobacco Day: Redbridge service joins campaign

Aaron Bohannon, tobacco control lead with Everyone Health, said: "The benefits of quitting tobacco are enormous and almost immediate.
"After just 20 minutes of quitting smoking, your heart rate drops and the carbon monoxide level in your blood drops to normal within 12 hours.
"Quitting smoking will reduce your risk for stroke within five to 15 years, lung cancer and heart disease within 15 years."
A retired Redbridge resident named David, who wished to only use his first name, had been a smoker his entire adult life and was referred to the service after visiting a lung health check clinic.
He had tried quitting several times in the past but it never stuck; after he was given Champix medication, he was finally able to give up.

A Utica man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison today for for recording himself sexually abusing a child, federal prosecutors said.
Aaron Bohannon, 53, will also be required to register as a sex offender, and ordered to a lifetime of court supervision after his release from prison in 20 years, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.
Prosecutors said Bohannon sexually abused a child from 2018 to June 2019. He then recorded and distributed the abuse, according to the news release.
Bohannon also shared and viewed child pornography of other children online, prosecutors said.

UTICA, N.Y. – A Utica man has been sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting a child and distributing child pornography.
Aaron Bohannon, 53, admitted to recording his sexual abuse against a child victim from at least 2018 through June of 2019, and sending the explicit videos to others. He also distributed sexually explicit photos and videos of other minors.
