Mystery Trip to UAE by Malaysia's King

What were the Sultan and two other top officials doing in seeking repatriation of funds?

In January this year, Malaysia’s current king, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad, accompanied by two elected officials – the Foreign Minister Hishamuddin Hussein and the Attorney General Idris Harun flew to Abu Dhabi on a deeply secret mission – to discuss with UAE Prince Mohamed bin Nayan the return of a vast treasure trove stolen from 1Malaysia Development Bhd before the Malaysian sovereign investment collapsed in a welter of scandal two years ago.
One of the side benefits of the trip, as Asia Sentinel reported on April 16, was that the king and members of his entourage were said to have been vaccinated as a favor with the Sinopharm vaccine in the UAE, one of the world’s leading countries in combating the virus along with other oil-rich Gulf states. Sultan Abdullah, the sources say, was given an additional 2,000 doses for his family and friends to take home to Malaysia.

Ex-1MDB CEO has suspicions on illegal activities in 1MDB between Najib, Jho Low

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Former 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) chief executive officer (CEO) told the High Court on Monday (May 17) that he had suspicions that some illegal activities were happening in the company between Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, or Jho Low over the US$3bil (RM12.39bil) bond issuance.
The US$3bil bond issuance involved 1MDB Global Investments Limited (1MDB GIL) to Abu Dhabi-Malaysia Investment Company (ADMIC).
Mohd Hazem Abd Rahman, 47, however, said he never asked Najib, who was the prime minister at that time, to clarify the matter but shared his concern with former 1MDB chairman, Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin and Najib’s former principal private secretary, the late Datuk Azlin Alias knowing that they had access to Najib.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak as the prime minister then was involved in Low Taek Jho’s “nefarious agenda” for 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) when the government-owned firm’s subsidiary raised US$3 billion of funds in 2013, a former 1MDB CEO claimed in court today.
Mohd Hazem Abd Rahman, a former CEO of 1MDB from March 2013 to early January 2015, said this while being cross-examined as the 10th prosecution witness in Najib’s ongoing trial over power abuse and money laundering charges involving more than RM2 billion of 1MDB funds.

Outside the courtroom, Shafee said three deputy public prosecutors from the 1MDB trial had also requested the judge to allow them some time to attend Rosmah’s proceedings.
