  The Labour Party has reserved its ticket for the 2027 presidential election for Peter Obi. Obi, a former Anambra State governor, was the party’s presidential candidate in 2023. He came third in the election, losing to Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came second in the poll. This was disclosed in a communique issued at the end of the National Convention of the party held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the Grand Seasons Hotel, Nnewi, Anambra State.

“We are expecting seven delegates from each of the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, all elected members of the party in the Senate and House of Representatives as well as State Houses of Assembly, LP Commissioners and members of the National Working Committee, NWC, among others.”
