The year 2020, as former American President Franklin Roosevelt said of the 1941 attack on the Pearl Harbour, is a year which will live in infamy. 
At no time in recent history, save the 1939-1945 period of the second world war, has the human race been tested and the world order turned upside down. The Corona virus continues its belligerently destructive path, testing science and shaking the foundations of our shared humanity. 
That notwithstanding, the human race’s resilience and tenacity when faced with adversity, is remarkable. We fall, rise, fall again and rise, hoping that tomorrow will be better. As we close the chapter of this dark year therefore, I wish to share heartfelt condolences to fellow citizens who have lost their loved ones and pray for healing to those battling for their lives.  ....

Disgruntled, bitter, angry. This is how many have described former Ethics and Integrity Minister Miria Matembe’s feelings towards President Museveni’s government.
The former Mbarara Woman MP, who served in the same government for more than a decade, withdrew from elective politics in 2006 after a bitter fallout with Mr Museveni in 2003 over the removal of presidential term limits from the Constitution.
It is, however, possible for one to forget that the former minister retired from active politics almost 15 years ago, because of constant criticism of her former boss and the government he presides over. ....
