India on Sunday recorded 12,899 fresh COVID-19 cases that pushed its infection tally to 4,32,96,692, while the number of active cases increased to 72,474, according to Union health ministry data. The death toll climbed to 5,24,855 with 15 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated. The active cases comprise 0.17 per cent of the total infections. With 14 new Covid-19 cases, Ahmedabad accounted for half of the total new cases recorded in Gujarat on Sunday.

India has reported 2,858 fresh cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Saturday.

It further said that the country has reported 3,355 recoveries and 11 Covid deaths, in the last 24 hours, on the conduct of 4,86,963 tests. With this, India's recovery rate stands at 98.74 per cent.

A total of 27,986,138 people have received have been vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine in India so far.
