KAI Sotto isn't losing sight of his ultimate goal of making it to the NBA.
But Adelaide 36ers general manager Jeff Van Groningen warned the Filipino prodigy not to take his stint in the National Basketball League (NBL) in Australia lightly.
"The National Basketball League is a tough league," he said. "It's a very strong league and improving league. It's gone from being one of the top 10 leagues in the world perhaps 10 years ago to certainly I think in the top five leagues in the world now."
Sotto's party, though, needs not to fret when it comes to the 7-foot-3 center's future as Adelaide has been in this situation before.

Giddey has been earmarked as one of Australia's next basketball superstars.
In his debut season in the NBL the 18-year-old has already shown why NBA teams are watching him so closely ahead of this year's draft, and the impressive Melbourne-born teenager could well be heading to the Tokyo Olympics to represent his country in July.
There's a lot of hype, but experts and those closest to him say it is justified.

New Zealand Breakers smash Adelaide 36ers in NBL Cup

The New Zealand Breakers have produced a record-breaking first-half onslaught to set up a 106-62 thrashing of the Adelaide 36ers in the NBL Cup.
Adelaide entered Saturday's contest at John Cain Arena aiming to improve on their slow starts, after falling behind 36-10 in a loss to Melbourne United two nights earlier.
But New Zealand blew the Sixers off the court with a 32-6 start to set a league record for the largest first-quarter lead in a 40-minute game.
The Breakers increased their advantage to 30 points at the main break, creating a club record for the biggest halftime lead, before going on to become the first team to earn maximum points in the NBL Cup by winning all four quarters.

2021 NBL season preview key players X factors and how each team can win

This NBL off-season lasted nearly an entire year. Think about that for a second.
We had a pandemic disrupt everything, players opt in and out of contracts, salary cuts across the entire league, the start to the new season pushed back and back, and teams re-located then re-relocated some more.

Sides were forced to operate amid unprecedented uncertainty, while the league did its best to outsmart a virus that's seemingly uncontrollable. It seems miraculous that, in the end, we ended up with all nine rosters filled without losing a significant amount of talent, ahead of a season that will do its best to flirt with normalcy.

ADELAIDE'S NBL season is suddenly at the crossroads after losing a third-consecutive game to a team below it on the ladder, going down 96-87 to New Zealand at home on Sunday.
Entering the match on the back of losses to Illawarra and Cairns, the 36ers were outscored 26-18 during the fourth quarter of a contest that had been tight until late.
