Court Grants Leave Seeking Order To Compel President Tinubu, Nigerian Electricity Agencies To Reverse Unjust Tariffs

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos State has granted the prayers of the Incorporated Trustees of Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) against the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu, as a first respondent. Other respondents in the suit numbered FHC/L/CS/99/2023 are the Attorney General of the Federation; the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission and the Nigeria Bulk Electricity Trading Plc as 2nd, 3rd and 4th Respondents respectively.

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over “the failure to publish spending details of about N400bn so far saved as a result of the removal of subsidy on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly called petrol.” The suit followed reports that the Federal Government has saved N400bn
