The Artery will present “Phenomena and Forecast,” an introduction to Adele Shaw’s new work, from Jan. 8 to 30. The artist will also have books and sketchbooks containing sketches and studies of her various works in development. In 2020, Shaw reevaluated the image-making in her paintings. A number of big reveals led her to this new, personal work. By going completely abstract, she found a language to project intangible things — the smell of lavender or the sound of sunlight streaming through trees.
